I wanted him to look very pierced, but not insanely pierced. Turns out 24 face piercings is actually not terrible? Especially if 11 of them are in the ears.
WRT colors: The blue ones are all different gemstones that I haven't thought through -- except the long earring is all black diamonds, and the industrial is tipped by a pearl. Everything else is basically fair game.
Some of these have triad purposes that I've thought of, some have personal purposes that I've thought of, and many of them have neither ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

right ear (6): first lobe has the officer earring with black diamonds; second lobe; two orbital -- one silver signifying interest in women, one gold signifying interest in men, the combination of the two is less restrictive than the binary, much like identifying as bisexual; helix; targus
left ear (5): Jin blood triple rings, industrial room key, rook
cheeks (3): left-side teardrop probably for his first kill or something; both dimples because they're adorable
nose (2): septum from his time as a soldier but with a smaller ring now; right nostril
lips (3): medusa -- the top lip thing -- is what you get when you graduate out of being a soldier because it would interfere with the larger ring so it's a mark of accomplishment in rising up the ranks; left spider bites
throat dermal (1, not pictured)

collar bones (4): 2 in each side
sternum (2): down the center
bellybutton (2): top and bottom, done for JYL's pregnancy and successful delivery, respectively
hips (6): 3 each side, JYL's request -- she thought they'd be pretty next to the fingertip- shaped bruises
spine (9): these denote major kills, human and yao
dick (1): palang, vertical -- this is definitely a kind of rite of passage but I'm not sure what... probably a virginity thing, that seems very JGS. possibly a marriage thing...? I think I like that better, but the logistics of it wrt xuanli seems... fraught. maybe JZX and LQY share a sneaky piercer (LQY definitely has a sneaky piercer, but we'll get to that later in another side chapter)
