that moment by the end of sinners where the harrowing opening scene of sammie walking into the church bloody and beaten, shellshocked, terrified, holding his broken guitar, and his father is welcoming him back into the fold of the church like a prodigal son, and it seems to be the perfect set up for a religious cautionary tale of the consequences of straying from god... but it's then resolved in this instant transition where you see sammie driving away, crying, still clutching his guitar despite it all and it hits all in one moment that he has rejected christianity and chosen blues even though he's just gone through this horrible, traumatic event "because" of "the devil's music" - that he has uncovered and refused the abusive fallacy at the center of christianity that the bad things that happen to you if you stray are because of the things you love that are against bible doctrine, that it's your fault and you've brought it upon yourself. and he said no! he said no. and then we see him go on and live to have this successful career and know that he was right, that the association of blues with the devil was a lie. that's it that's what it's like. i bawled my eyes out at the movie theatre especially in combination with the beauty and terror of the piece the resistance of the film, the scene where the spirits of the past and future all come together to unapologetically embody that music, that history, even as they are surrounded by flames burning the building down, and it's like: fuck you, we'll have the party in hell, then, but god damn it we will have it

QUESTIONS ABOUT ANGELS

Of all the questions you might want to ask about angels, the only one you ever hear is how many can dance on the head of a pin.

No curiosity about how they pass the eternal time besides circling the Throne chanting in Latin or delivering a crust of bread to a hermit on earth or guiding a boy and girl across a rickety wooden bridge.

Do they fly through God's body and come out singing? Do they swing like children from the hinges of the spirit world saying their names backwards and forwards? Do they sit alone in little gardens changing colors?

What about their sleeping habits, the fabric of their robes, their diet of unfiltered divine light? What goes on inside their luminous heads? Is there a wall these tall presences can look over and see hell?

If an angel fell off a cloud, would he leave a hole in a river and would the hole float along endlessly filled with the silent letters of every angelic word?

If an angel delivered the mail, would he arrive in a blinding rush of wings or would he just assume the appearance of the regular mailman and whistle up the driveway reading the postcards?

No, the medieval theologians control the court. The only question you ever hear is about the little dance floor on the head of a pin where halos are meant to converge and drift invisibly.

It is designed to make us think in millions, billions, to make us run out of numbers and collapse into infinity, but perhaps the answer is simply one: one female angel dancing alone in her stocking feet, a small jazz combo working in the background.

bucky waking gale up on christmas morning with a hot chocolate piled so high with whipped cream it’s threatening to tip right over. gale smiling all sleepy, taking a sip and getting the cream all over his nose. gale moaning a little because bucky stirred extra sugar into it just the way he likes it. bucky getting a husky little “thank you darlin” in return for his efforts and then kissing him so long the hot chocolate gets cold

I just found out that Taabe means "Sun" in Comanche, but it can also refer to a clock or time (same thing in Cree). So Taabe dies when the sun is going down, and then Naru avenges him by killing the Yautja at night and returns with its head at sunrise.

Anyways my post CT Ben HCs as your local resident disabled Ben stan

Is in a wheelchair for the first three months post CT, though after he's healed up enough, he uses one off and on. The wheelchair we see in the show is NOT an everyday wheelchair, despite it being months after CT, that leads me to believe that it is not a permanent thing

Despite him not being 100% wheelchair bound, he is an ambulatory wheelchair user, the nerves in his leg were peobably a wee bit jacked after the incident so long walks without some sort of aid are a no go. When he's not using a wheelchair, he uses forearm crutches or a rollator

No matter what it is, he WILL deck out his mobility aids, if its legally his then he's making it LOOK like his. Stickers, keychains, beads, etcetc. He also has spikes on the handles of his wheelchair because he HATES when people push it for him without his explicit permission, like go away???

The first few months (after he's healed enough to move around) were spent in almost 24/7 physical therapy, he need a LOT of it to even be able to stand, nvm walk, he does eventually get to a point where he can walk, even without aid, but it's a lot more strenuous than before and he needs a LOT more breaks.

Tries growing his hair out again, gets overwhelmed, cuts it again

Gets a Nova Scotian Duck Tolling Retriever who is his service pup :D they can warn when his blood pressure/heart are getting a lil out of hand, as well as retrieving things for him

Can't do a lot of activities, especially for the first year, as his heart is still quite weak due to the bloodloss and. It literally stopping. The rest of the camp fam make sure to find things he can do safely though

Stayed with his grandparents in italy when he was discharged from the hospital, he was still a lil too much of a risk for the flight back to america, it was also nice to spend time back in italy with family rather than fighting for his damn life.

Gets headaches/migraines especially easily now, as well as getting winded, chest pain and lightheadedness become very familiar to him.

The camp fam take turns taking him to his doctors appointments, though Kenji and Yaz do it the most

This ones a bit angsty I fear, but he def gets really sad about Bumpy not being a few hour drive away anymore, like yeah, he can go to Italy, visit his grandparents, stay with Darius while he's there for work, but it's not the same, she's not *there*. It takes a long while to get used to, honestly he feels really lost without her for the first while, makes one of the photos Darius sent him with her and Smoothie his phone background, finds himself staring at photos of her until his heart aches. It sucks, he misses her, a lot, she was his best friend and now it's just like when he came back from Nublar and was left constantly worrying about her, and now Smoothie was added to the mix too. Poor guy has definitely cried over it more than a couple times.

Speaking of, he becomes a bit of a crybaby after the incident, blames it on his meds, but more than anything, it's because of how close he came to death, how he was mere moments away from not being around, and that's terrifying. He had paranoia already, but this is a whole nother level.

Constantly telling his friends and family he loves them, he doesn't want to risk losing a last chance.

His mom calls him at least once a week to check in, when she heard about what happened it was like she was shot back to when she found out about Nublar, she nearly lost her baby boy again and she wasn't going to risk missing his voice again.

Definitely gets a lot more anxious of anything with a thagomizer, the first time he saw a stego up close after the incident he nearly had a panic attack

Kept the thagomizer, Kenji hates it but he can't really tell him no.

Brooklynn helps him with his bandages and cleaning the most, she's been there and knows what she's doing

Sammy makes him baked goods that don't have too much sugar as to not screw with his heart, nearly gets him on a vegetarian diet but he is a lil too stubborn

Sometimes Darius takes him on drives just to get out of the house, he's isolated himself before and knows that being stircrazy is terrible. The drives never really lead anywhere specific, just sightseeing with music and conversation, but that's enough for Ben to feel a little more normal again.
