Cebu Pacific Juan for Fun 2016 has awesome participants and coaches this time around.

5 teams from hundreds that applied were chosen to join the Cebu Pacific Juan for Fun 2016. 5 teams that will be competing with one another to win the ultimate grand prize for this year – Travel-All-You-Can pass. This entitles each member to as many free flights to domestic and international short-haul destinations as they want within one year. They will also win exciting premium travel gear from the challenge’s partner brands.

The contest will be for 7 days. Each team will be given 35,000 php to use as their budget for the 7 day travel escapade.

To help the teams.. Celebrity coaches were picked for each team. The list includes first-time coaches—actress, singer and blogger Saab Magalona, and TV host and VJ Robi Domingo. They will be joined by returning coaches—musician Champ Lui Pio, Internet star Bogart the Explorer, and travel writer Jude Bacalso. Throughout the challenge, these celebrities will stay in touch and cheer for their respective teams through social media.

Just what is Ubuntu? Well, according to wikipedia:

Ubuntu[15] is a Debian-based Linux operating system and distribution for personal computers, smartphones and network servers. It uses Unity as its default user interface. It is based on free software and named after the Southern African philosophy of ubuntu (literally, “human-ness”), which often is translated as “humanity towards others” or “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”.[16]

Development of Ubuntu is led by UK-based Canonical Ltd.,[17] a company owned by South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth. Canonical generates revenue through the sale of technical support and other services related to Ubuntu.[18][19] The Ubuntu project is publicly committed to the principles of open-source software development; people are encouraged to use free software, study how it works, improve upon it, and distribute it.[20][21]

In other words, its a LInux based operating system – a different option if you can say compared to Windows and the iOs. Best of all.. it’s free. It’s like wordpress.. it’s technically free.

The latest version of Ubuntu ( according to my installation, which my computer says is up to date) is version 15.10

How to install? All you need is a USB.. around 4 gig is fine..You can download the installer here:

Once you install Ubuntu, it will take less than an hour.. If I remember correctly,it too around 45 minutes including the updates.

One of the things I noticed is that it takes very little space in the installation.

As you can see, its around 12 gig.. and thats with my files already.. Nice, right?

Maneuvering around inside Ubunt is a little tricky at first. but dont worry.. just google whatever you want to do and you will usually find an answer.

Like the chromebook, Ubuntu also has its own store.. that comes automatically installed.

Here’s a look at the layout. The close, minimize and maximize buttons are found on the top left.. opposite of where it would be in windows.

Worried about productivity? Well, dont. Ubuntu also has their own free version of the usual Microsoft office programs for word,excel and powerpoint.

So far, so good for me.. Since, I mostly use google docs and drive for my files… that’s also where I do my word processing. So for those that are looking to save cash coz you dont want to buy an original copy of the OS from windows.. try installing Ubuntu.
