What Happens When College Puts You Near Its Wait Catalog?

To be wait-listed means that you have not been accepted yet but have been placed occasional a list in rheumatic an opening becomes available. Schools employees the applicants from the regular inclusion pool ado their lists in status in point of frontage. What should I do if I don't get into French? I was planning on majoring in it, but considering there weren't many spots left and that Rosi has been blocking me out for nearly two hours now, I don't think I'll get into the class I need. Should I take it in the summer?
I wouldn't enter that realm of panic just yet, love. Don't think that if you don't get in today (but I hope you will!) that you won't get in at all. Courses will still change up until school starts and even in the first week of school. So there is always a chance. But it's smart of you to have thought up a back up course. It always frustrated me how the French department never gave ample sections for such popular classes. Keep trying, and keep me posted! With love and hope,Blurty Girl
Hi, If my course has 190 spaces and I'm on waitlist number 21, is there any chance that I could get into the course, or should I change. Oh, the course is a first year math course. Thanks.
Hi,
I'd definitely say you've got a shot. Do I think you should enrol in a back up course on August 9th as a sixth course that guarantees you a fifth course (and not another wait list)? Absolutely. But that's because I prefer to be safe rather than sorry. Here's hoping you get into that math course though!
With love and hope,

Hi! Just wondering if there are waitlists for first year seminars?
There should be. I think first year seminars are treated the same way as any other class. There may be a significantly less chance of getting off the wait list because most people don't drop first year seminars (especially for One programs), but there should be some.
With love and hope,

You're awesome! Thanks for answering all of our questions :) (This is my third to you in the last couple of days, heehee.) I have one half course on my waiting list for second semester and I'm #6 on the waiting list. I'm wondering how long is a reasonable time to wait before looking into another course?
Aww, thanks ducky!
Well it depends how many places there are in the course to begin with. Take me for example, HIS405Y1 has 9 spaces in total, with 4 on the waiting list. Chances of me getting in? Slim to none. Doesn't mean I'm not going to try on August 9th :P
I'd have a backup course enrolled on August 9th just to be on the safe side. It's always better to be safe than sorry, but it seems like you've got a decent chance of getting into the class :)
With love and hope,

Waitlists SUCK!!
Especially if you got waitlisted from six schools like I did. So basically I have to study for exams which start on May 3rd and write 6 individualized letters to Columbia, Brown, Swarthmore, Amherst, Williams and Pomona by May 1st ...YAY?
Honestly I would have preferred to have gotten rejected because the odds of me getting into even 1 are ridiculously slim so I'm probably going to get rejected anyway but this DAMN thing called hope. It kinda sucks ass.
SIGH
Wish me luck guys
