How does Brown's waitlist system work? Like, what are the chances of getting off it, and how does that work with sending in deposits at other schools while you're waiting to hear and what-not? At this point, I'm hoping I end up waitlisted, because I know chances of acceptance are so slim!

Brown does not release any information regarding the wait-list because it varies every year depending on how much room they have. If you get a letter saying you have been wait-listed, you won’t hear from Brown until after May 1st because that’s when those who were given offers have to decide whether or not they are accepting the offer. And even then, I think they tell you it will be around May 15 or so before you hear back (if you do).

In the mean time, your best bet would be to send a deposit to another school. There is absolutely no guarantee that you will get off the wait-list, so it really is vital that you put a deposit in somewhere else just so you know you’ll be going to college in the fall.

However, remember the wait-list isn’t the end of the world! Even though the chances of getting off are unknown, it’s better than being flat out denied. I’ve actually met two other people from my class who were also given admission off the wait-list, so have faith!

Perhaps, in retrospect, letting on to my mother that I had to wait-list classes required so that I may graduate wasn't the brightest idea at two in the morning...

But then again, I always make it work, so why do we need all the yelling..?

To answer some of your questions...

Today, I went to school to get some questions answered. :) I wasn't able to answer some of the anonymous questions posted here, so while getting some other things done I went ahead to the Dean's Secretary and asked:

1. Deadline for wait-listed applicants to pass their grades and letters: April 2, 2012. Make sure that your grades are complete (no more pesky * instead of numbers) before submitting!

2. The new list has come out! I'll post it soon. :)

Anyway, that's all I've got for today! To be sure about any of the information you need to know, go and ask the Dean's Office or the OIR and they'll have the right answers for sure.

Since I have such late registration time, I am now forced to make 3 plans for my schedule.... really not happy about this and I really hope my first or at least second plan works out because I want those schedules but the chances of getting into a class without a wait list is pretty low at this point. I know that some of the classes will open more seats but only those on the wait list now will be put in the class which puts me at the end of the waiting list -_- well I'm just praying I get at least one class I want and things will somehow get better. Now, I have to sleep early to get up early to get ready for 11am.
