Waiting Well
Wait /wāt/ (verb)- to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens.
Well /wel/ (adverb)- In a good or satisfactory way.
We live in a country that leads us to believe we are entitled to instant gratification. We feel we are being disrespected if we have to wait for something. When in fact, if we do have to wait, we are better off for it.
I have come to realize waiting in a slow line when I am in a rush (or hangry) is exactly what I need in that moment. It forces me to be still and realize how much I am rushing for no real reason. In that moment I have two options:
1.) Get really anxious, frustrated, annoyed, and… wait.
or
2.) Slow down, take a step back, look for what God is showing me, and… wait well.
Both involve waiting, but only one option involves waiting well. Choosing the second option obviously makes the most sense, but in the moment, I find it easier to gravitate to option one.
Actively trying to choose the better option is not always easy, but it is always worth it. So the next time you find yourself trying to rush through an inconvenient situation take a step back, look around, and choose to see what God is showing you.
Choose to wait well.

Lisa
