Waldo Kitty
Created by Lorna Smith and produced by Filmation, The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty is a mixed live-action/animated Saturday morning series. It stars a house cat named Waldo and the amazing adventures he has through his imagination. These adventures are presented in animated form and sees Waldo remained as a super hero named Catman, the gunslinging cowboy known as The Lone Kitty, a Robin Hood style bowman called Robin Cat, the mythological hero Captain Herc, and the jungle faring Catzan. Waldo’s adventures most often entailed having to recuse his girlfriend, a white kitty named Felicia, from a villainous bulldog called Tyrone.
The series is inspired by the 1939 short story, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, by James Thurber. Actor Howard Morris provided the voice for Waldo, with Jane Webb and Allan Melvin as Felicia and Tyrone respectively. A pair of tabby cats named Fredo and Sid portrayed the live action iteration of Waldo. The series premiered in September of 1975 and ran for thirteen episodes.
