Walker - 1 x 01 - Reaction

I finally (almost 24 hrs after it debuted is what I call “finally” Lol) watched Walker. I kept telling myself going into it. This is not Sam. This is not Sam. I expected to see flashes of Sam because I am looking for him. I will probably forever be looking for him. I saw very little Sam. What I saw was Dean and John.

Dean like things Walker did:

• Drank whiskey straight out of the bottle

• Went to a bar and had some more

• Got mad and busted some shit up. In this case it was a guy who pissed him off

• Drove (That was a little weird)

• Referred to himself as the “big brother” (That messed with my mind.)

Parallels with John Winchester:

• He ignores his kids in favor of being obsessed with a dead wife.

I had real trouble with this one. I didn’t like John for that very reason.

I actually found myself thinking: “Why aren’t you going to see your kids? WTF? Sam would never do that.” Another reminder to self: This isn’t Sam.

• He was a Marine.

•He tells his son “I made you grow up too fast.”

• Did I mention he’s obssessed with a dead wife? It’s work a case. Work another one. Get to the bottom of the wife’s murder. Hey 👋 You have kids. (Supernatural has marked me forever. I know what a father like this did to Sam and Dean.)

There was one time I saw Sam in him and that was when he was arguing with his daughter. It was the best scene of the episode IMO. He had similar arguments with Dean. You could hear the feeling in his voice. That was the scene that made me care about Walker. (Or was it Sam that I’m still caring about?)

I’m going to like his house. A. Lot. Stone fireplace. Wooden walls. It kinda has that cabin vibe. The last scene in that house with Walker and his kids made me see the potential in the show. If he can get over losing his wife in a way John never did that would be some character development I could really get behind.

It’s going to take me a minute to adjust because I will forever love Sam Winchester and I miss him terribly. Now here’s this man who looks like him and sounds like him but isn’t him. I’m in your corner Jared but I don’t love Walker. Not yet. However, if anyone can make me fall in love with him- it’s you. ❤️
