Origin/History of Lindsay Dunson
📖 Lindsay Mirage Dunson: Official Backstory
Lindsay Mirage Dunson was a little girl who lived surrounded by luxury thanks to her mother, Alice Dunson, a famous actress and model of her time. On the surface, it might seem like she had no worries or financial struggles, but despite living in a grand mansion and having everything she could ask for, Lindsay was incredibly lonely.
Her father left before she was born. Her mother, trapped in her own temperament and the chaos of her career, often took out her anger on Lindsay during fits of rage. Afterwards, she would apologize and buy Lindsay things to keep her quiet. But all Lindsay truly wanted was her mother’s attention and love—something she only received on very rare occasions.
Despite everything, Lindsay was a cheerful, introverted, and friendly child. She had a deep love for her toys, drawing, sewing, and—above all—photography. For her, taking a picture was like freezing a moment in time forever, capturing an instant exactly as it was, so she could later appreciate every single detail. She also liked to keep her things neat and organized; for her, every gift from her mother was like a piece of Alice that was always with her, and she cherished it deeply.
Between the ages of 4 and 5, she moved from her home country of Russia to live with her mother in California. Shortly after, her mother met a man named Roger Miller, who soon became her official partner. Lindsay, who had always wanted a close relationship with her mother, thought that this new situation would give her the chance to have a complete family, and she excitedly hoped for a father figure.
However, after a few months, Roger began to treat her with contempt and hatred. He had never wanted children, and he especially didn’t want to raise his partner’s child from a previous relationship. He ignored her completely, and on the occasions when Lindsay played and made too much noise, he would beat her, mistreating both her and her toys, leaving them damaged.
Lindsay had never had a healthy emotional relationship, so she didn’t know how to recognize abuse. Since her mother hit her and then apologized, she believed that was simply how people treated each other. Because of this, she never told her mother about what Roger was doing to her.
One afternoon, while she was playing in the large backyard of her home, Roger came over to where she was. Lindsay was confused, because he never played with her. She thought she was in trouble, but to her surprise, Roger approached her gently and told her he would take her for a walk. Lindsay, excited by this unexpected show of affection, accepted. Before leaving, she grabbed her plush toy, Nathan, her only and best friend. Nathan was special among all her toys because he was the first one she ever had, and he had been with her the longest.
They walked for a while until they reached a nearly deserted road. There, Lindsay felt scared and said she wanted to go back home to play with her dolls and see her mother. But Roger didn’t listen. In an instant, she felt a needle prick her neck, and she fell asleep.
She woke up hours later in a strange, dirty, and dilapidated room that reeked of decay. Outside, she could hear voices—voices she had never heard before. Terrified, she saw Nathan lying nearby. She grabbed him, hugged him tightly, and closed her eyes, wishing it was all just a bad dream.
Then, a man with a kind and charming appearance approached her. With a tone that made Lindsay feel uneasy, he asked her why she was afraid. He introduced himself as Félix Vázquez. He took her out of the room and led her to a "special" room, where there were other children. They looked malnourished, as if they hadn't eaten in months, and were chained by their necks, arms, and legs. Lindsay walked hand-in-hand with Félix, thinking he was taking her to the exit. When she saw the door, she believed she was finally going home.
But Félix opened the door and led her into a much larger and more cared-for room. There were children's drawings on the walls and dozens of cameras of all sizes and styles. Many adults were scattered around the room.
Months passed. Lindsay couldn't sleep without the constant fear that it would be her turn to go to that room, where many children were forced to pose for photography and videos. Although most of the children were beaten and bound, Félix treated Lindsay differently because he had developed a sickly affection and obsession with her. Lindsay clutched Nathan at all times, begging silently to be left in her corner, because she already knew what happened in that room.
She was the only one without chains, but her door couldn't be opened without a key, unlike the others who lived in cages. As time passed, her hope that her mother would come looking for her faded away. She thought maybe Roger had handed her over to these people or had abandoned her there. The simple act of taking photos now disgusted her. She was sad—too sad.
One day, one of the "workers" at the facility forgot the keys to her room. Lindsay grabbed them and escaped. She ran and hid with Nathan, trying to go as unnoticed as possible. She almost made it to what looked like the exit, but unfortunately, she ran into an autopsy room.
She froze in shock at the sight of the blood and organs of a corpse on the table. In that same moment, she felt excruciating pain in her left leg. Someone heading toward the room had slashed her leg with a blade. She screamed in agony and passed out from the massive blood loss that occurred within seconds.
When she woke up, she was confused and disoriented, as if waking from a nightmare. She saw trees all around her and immediately knew she was no longer in that place. She was sitting under a tree. Something touched her left arm, and she realized it was Nathan. She hugged him tightly. The strange thing was that Nathan was now moving on his own. Though this would have terrified her under normal circumstances, her confusion and loneliness made her instinct to hug him stronger than her fear.
She looked around and saw something lying on an old, dirty blanket. There was a lot of blood around that place, and the body lying there looked exactly like her. Lindsay stared at the corpse for a few minutes. She took a step back, tripped over a branch, and fell to the ground.
Then, a tall, pale, faceless figure with tentacles extending from its back helped her up. Terrified but with no other choice, Lindsay accepted the help.
That figure was Slenderman. He would become her mentor, leading Lindsay and Nathan deeper into the forest, where her new life as a vengeful ghost would begin.
