The good news is that I can go RX’ed on 21.1. The bad news is that I am almost certainly going to pee myself and spend a good portion of the 15 minutes lying facedown on the floor.

WOD #6 - 11/13/17
I had a dream that I missed today’s class and had to go tomorrow. It seemed so feasible I almost just accepted that fate was telling me to sleep in, but alas the anxiety of missing class won out in the end.
Today was a partner WOD and my partner was this sweet, yet bad ass lady who kept cheering me on for doing the simplest things. I couldn’t let her down, so as so it kept me working my hardest / fasted throughout the workout.
Divided between us, we did 4 rounds of:
1 Rope Climb her / 3 rope pulls me
40lb DBall over the shoulder
6 wall climbs
20 burpee box jumps to 20’
We finished in 24:26.
The rope pulls I really don’t mind and watching her do a rope climb really got me more ~optimistic~ about doing a rope climb then I’ve ever been. She made it look like rock climbing, and I’ve done rock climbing, so clearly one day I can climb a rope.
The DBall over the shoulder were less brutal then I expected, same with the Burpees. This WOD was definitely hard, but I didn’t feel like I was dying. Burpees used to make me wish I was dying, but today I probably could’ve done them indefinitely, albeit slowly.
Wall climbs - I need to work on walking my hands back. I think it’s more so a mental barrier as opposed to a physical one and I need to at least try to lift my hands off the ground next time.

BBG- 15 min Snatch technique work
Conditioning-10 min AMRAP of
6 HSPU 3 wall-walks up and down
30 BB Lunges, front rack (95/65)
60 Double Unders 120 singles
Foam roll, 500m row (1:52 @~60%) and stretching exercise, PVC work.
Group snatch technique work was done with PVC pipe and no weights used, from the high hang position, then down to the hang position just above the knees, and finally down to mid-shin. I found just how much tension the proper position will load onto the hamstrings, and trying to go down and hold in each of the three positions (in particular the latter two) became really difficult. Not unexpected, but still startling.. Coming back up in slow motion from mid-shin to hang, my legs were actually quivering, muscles spasming in that range of motion. Interesting having a very obvious and real highlight of a weakness like that.
The WOD, not a lot to say, other than the substitutions/modifications listed above. I won't say that the wall walks were easy, but they were less difficult than I had expected, while still providing a challenge in the second round. Lunges were done at 65 lbs.
Made it through one full round, and then wall walks + all 30 lunges of the second round during the 10 minutes. Not exactly pleased, but I'm still trying to recover lost ground from my hiatus, so I can't be too hard on myself.

WOD:
Level 2 Intermediate:
15 Min AMRAP of:
10 Power Cleans (95/65)
10 Wall Ball (20/12)
10 Knees 2 Elbows
Warmup: 3 x 10 Lunges, PVC Pipe Passthroughs, 10 DU/30 Singles, and Max time handstand holds.
I was a little surprised at doing the handstand holds, I honestly wasn't sure that I could actually support myself.. Of course, I had been doing/thinking about them incorrectly.. it's not a matter of doing it like a handstand push-up, it's a matter of having elbows locked and active shoulders, to bear the weight up higher, rather than relying on arm strength.
First attempt I got up to a count of about 41-42 seconds, surprised me entirely.. felt my head get a little spinny following that however, had me slightly concerned. That was doing the "kick-up" method.. the remaining two tries were more of a wall-walk, facing away from the wall rather than towards.. easier on my head, but the process (and repeated attempts) had my time cut short, down to 20 seconds or so per attempt. Always a pleasant surprise to find out you can actually do something, though!
The rest of the warmup was uneventful, still working on DU's.
The workout was pretty terrible though! I know anything involving wall-balls is going to be trouble for me.
I suppose I can take some small comfort in finding that 95 lb. power cleans have become somewhat easier for me; At one point I went through all ten without much effort at all, felt like I could do them all day long. Didn't totally bash my collarbone or chest while doing them either, I think maybe it's a sign of starting to develop finer muscle control and getting muscle memory set in place? Just a guess.
The wall-balls were terrible, 20 lbs still poses quite a challenge, and trying to throw it up ten feet.. yeah, not so much. I think I was closer to eight feet for much of the workout, and went slow even at that. :( I think I lack power in the squats and fail to properly translate it into upwards momentum to get the ball back up. Twelve seems easier to work with, but I suppose I should concern myself more with strength than speed, in general. I'll get there eventually.
The knees to elbows weren't really too much of a problem, except my grip strength is still seemingly low, I have to work on ten at a time in two sets, though I managed to squeeze out seven of ten in one round.
TL;DR: Hey, I can do handstands! Power cleans, okay! Wallballs :( Knees to.. *comes off, gets back on* Elbows!
Final: Four rounds plus 6 wallballs.
