Something that really stood out to me about Will’s characterization in “GOAT” is that the writers made him sensitive. He openly sheds some tears when he’s overcome with joy, and nobody ever insults him for it. I can’t think of a lot of other male animated characters who do this, without having it played for laughs.
I think it’s important to show kids (especially young boys) that you can be tough, brave, and strong, and that having strong emotions doesn’t take those traits away.
