I'm a 2020 college graduate. I lost my internship due to lockdown, I got rejected from job after job, no ceremony or closure, and just recently got rejected from a dream job I worked so hard to get since high school. I felt like I wasted my life by being alive or born too late for everything thanks to the pandemic. The movie Soul made me snap out of my lost soul dark thoughts and taught me to calm down & enjoy living because my journey is just beginning.

Anyone up for making/running a Disney confessions blog that explicitly disallows any and all "confessions" concerning "representation"? And more importantly, sticking to it? The existing waltdisneyconfessions blog has become little more than 50 Million Ways To Say The Same SJW Crap Over And Over. No, I can't run such a blog myself; I KNOW I lack the time, energy, and patience.

Ugh, that blog is so annoying.

Yeah, because people who have a different opinion than yours, even if it means defending a cartoon character that isn't real, should be shut down. Way to promote the spirit of the US and other corrupt governments! I get what you were trying to say, but no one should be attacked for having a personal opinion, no matter how much you disagree. Especially when it has to do with cartoon characters. Defending a real person sure but a cartoon character you can reimagine in a fanfic and all that jazz.

If you feel that strongly about this then you should be willing to put your name on your comments to me. If you truly believe in what you’re saying, say it for real rather than behind those sunglasses, yeah? It’s not like I’m going to troll you for disagreeing with something I said (despite what you appear to incorrectly assume).

I’m going to guess you’re talking about the comment I left on the @waltdisneyconfessions blog post about Mother Gothel’s actions and abuse survivors. If I’m correct, then way to blow things out of proportion like whoa and make some nice blanket assumptions about me and what I actually said.

For some background, the confession I commented on said the following:

“I think everyone who’s ever had any problem with their mother can relate to Rapunzel’s relationship with Mother Gothel, which is what makes it so complex. But it feels like the fans who have bad or abusive mothers have taken ownership of Rapunzel and Gothel’s relationship and projected their own issues onto it, and anyone who doesn’t think Gothel was anything less than a pure evil monster gets shut down.”

And I left a comment on it listing some of the reprehensible things Gothel did and ended it with “Anybody who tries to defend Gothel SHOULD be shut down”.

So, first off, where did I say that all people who have a differing opinion from me on any and all subjects should be attacked? Nowhere. You are putting that sentiment in my mouth, not me. I was talking about the defense of Gothel’s abusive behavior only.

Also, “shut down” is not the same thing as “attacked”. Did I say anyone who defends Gothel’s abusive behavior should be attacked? No. You are the one making that leap, not me. 

In this context I’m saying “shut down” as in strongly disagreeing with the person and shutting down their argument with counterpoints. You know, like… debate? Points and counterpoints? Talking? Not everything has to be digital warfare, and saying my statement there “promotes the spirit of the US and other corrupt governments” is absolutely ridiculous. Come on, now. Be reasonable.

I never said that people should be attacked for having a personal opinion, nor did I say that anybody who has a different opinion than mine about anything and everything should be shut down. That is you putting words in my mouth, and I’d appreciate it if you’d… not. It’s not a good look.

The Next Right Thing has been helping me with my grief. I had to put my cat down 2 months ago but I’m still in so much pain so to help I sing it to myself. I’m too nervous to tell people I love this song because whenever I see someone mention it they rip it apart and call it the worst song in Frozen 2

Bluey has been an amazing show to watch during quarantine. Seeing their family work through things and love each other is so nice when you see so much crap going on. I'm not afraid to admit it either. Go watch Bluey, it's wholesome!

During 2020, around the time Frozen 2 was released to Disney+, I was struggling mentally. I was falling into a depressing mindset because of a failing friendship. When I rewatched Frozen 2, Elsa’s song “Show Yourself” moved me to tears, reminding me that I don’t NEED someone to get on with my life.

I've come to realize that Snow White has become my comfort movie and that she has become my favorite princess. Anytime I'm struggling with anxiety or depression, I watch it. Snow White is really optimistic, kind, and comforting. Reminding me to stay positive and kind. The song "With a smile and a song" really helps me during those times.
