The Fierce Deity
I 100% made this for my sister, Bree/Echo. Majora's Mask is her favorite Zelda game and Time as the Fierce Deity is her boy.

people with siblings: how do you feel about them?

So I chopped about a foot of my hair off and I freaking love it. My hair is very thick and VERY heavy, and it was to the point of giving me a headache from just being down on top of being a huge pain in the ass to take care of. Once you're keeping it up in a bun for literally 95% of the time, what's the point?
It's amazing how making a big change to your hair can make you feel like a new person. In my case it's going hand in hand with the other previously mentioned personal changes I've made to take better care of myself.
In other news, new art is scheduled for Tuesday! I decided to delay posting it until after the holiday weekend.
I also finally saw Project Hail Mary and now I kinda want to draw Rocky and Grace fisting their bumps.
Amaze, amaze, amaze.
My next piece is (tentatively) finished and time testing right now.
It's very fierce and god-like.

One of the definitive markers of adulthood is getting stupidly excited about shit like getting a new drafting chair.
My body is getting old enough that I can no longer ignore it screaming at me about my current desk chair being too big for me. And don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic chair. It's a Herman.
When I had the health crisis with my neck/spine that caused my nerve damage back in 2009 it was right about the time that my dad was winding down the family business in preparation for retiring. He was only down there for a few hours a couple days a week at that point.
I was using a shitty cheap desk chair at the time until one day he came walking in from the garage carrying the Herman from his desk down at the business. Without even saying hello he plopped it down in front of my desk, pointed at it, and told me "Sit down so I can adjust it for you." I've been using it ever since.
Again, it is a FABULOUS chair. And an expensive one, too. I've always been extremely grateful for it, and I've used it well. But it's honestly made for a man over six feet tall, not my little 5'3" fun-sized ass. I've just always used it with a booster cushion under my butt to lift me and another one behind my back to push me forward along with a tilting foot rest under my desk to retrofit it to my much smaller build. (My toes barely brush the floor without the foot rest.)
All of that didn't matter when I was 25, though. It was great!
But I'm not 25 anymore. I'm going to be 42 in September, and having to sit on multiple cushions to get myself up high enough to be up over my cintiq to draw on it just isn't working anymore (I have to add 1-2 cushions under my butt when I'm drawing which forces me to literally jump up into the chair to get in it).
Now that I've gotten back on my bullshit art-wise, my spine is telling me loud and clear that it most definitely is not working for me anymore.
So now I'm going to be waiting at the front door like a little kid next to the fireplace on Christmas Eve for this to arrive:
And I'm psyched as fuck about it.
Like Real People Do
Named after the Hozier song. I don't think they would ever get bored with the mundane things that normal people would have, without any magic, life or death stakes, divine intervention, bloodshed, or trauma. They'd live for moments that "real people" have every day, and living in itself would be novel.
Also? Rings because I can.
I made a speed paint video for this piece, too:

Dark Link: Screw this battle. Seriously.
There’s not much explanation needed on this one. The Dark Link mini boss battle in the water temple of Ocarina of Time. I hate this battle. I suck at it. I seem to be the only one who sucks at it.

The Six Sages: Ocarina of Time
Now before I get a bunch of notes saying “THERE ARE 7 SAGES ZELDA IS A SAGE DUH OMFG”, yes, I know. When I originally titled this The Six Sages I meant the six temple sages. I should have named it The Seven Sages, yes, but it’s about five years too late now.
Ocarina of Time was my favorite Zelda game for nearly 20 years until Breath of the Wild hit, but it’s still a very very close second now. I was 14 when it first came out and it was my first Zelda game, so it’s special to me. This is basically my love letter to the game.

Musician of Time
Something I posted here literally years ago with a description that means nothing now, so I’ve re-written it.
Ocarina of Time was not only my favorite Zelda game but my favorite game, period, from the time I first stuck that gold cart in my 64 in 1998… until I slid that tiny Breath of the Wild cart in my Switch in 2017.
Sorry, OoT. You may have been dethroned, but you will always be my first Zelda love.

A Jump of 20 Years
Give or take a few months. I found this recently during an archaeological dig in my bedroom. I drew this when I was 14 by eyeball copying the Ocarina of Time guidebook and I remember I was so frickin’ proud of myself I had it tacked on my wall for years after that. I usually hate my old art from that long ago but… this ain’t bad.
I’m temporarily giving up on putting links in my posts at all to see if that helps my stuff actually show up in search results.

So the 14yo kid in me is crying hysterically right now OoT was my first Zelda game oh my God.
Oh my God.

Witchcraft
I've been told my coloring process from flat to finished is "witchcraft" by people who are privy to my progress shots as I work, so I decided to make a gif showing all of the layers that go into how I color/shade flesh and hair. Hopefully it's kinda neat-o.

Foolish, Foolish Girl
From "Calm Waters Run Deep" chapter 8 by @themarydragon on Ao3:
I reached up with my left hand and took a handful of his tunic, grounding myself with his faith. I pressed my face into his chest and took a moment to praise everything, past or present, that had existed to bring this man into my life. “What would I do without you?” “With some luck, you’ll never have to know. My life is yours, Princess.” I felt the last thin thread of resist snap, and the fight went out of me. I loved him. Damn it, damn me, damn him, damn everything to the cold oblivion from which Ganon sprang, I loved him. It was the single most foolish, ignorant, inconvenient thing I could have done, but there it was. I loved him. I loved him. Shit, shit, shit.
Zelda scolds herself as a "fool/foolish girl" several times throughout Trouble the Water when it comes to her feelings for Link, and this was the most foolish thing of all.
