A Helping Hand
Featuring Walter Guy Andy by thedarklordemma
(Forewarning: Violence, some of this sounds sorta noncon so if you’re triggered by that, I wouldn’t recommend this fic.)
———————-
Gamma balanced a large stack of books precariously in her arms as she used her toe to push the button for the elevator. The Walter Library was massive, and without the upgrades that other robots received, she could only read and obtain. And so, these books would have a new home in her stasis chamber, keeping her awake at night as the Matter Mistress would watch and study her. She knew she was observing from that two way mirror, but she didn’t care, one insomniac to another. They both needed something to do.
She couldn’t see over her armfuls but she heard the DING as the elevator arrived and waited for the shuffle of doors before walking carefully inside, books teetering. She side-eyed the number pad before using her toe again to push the button on the level of her room, blessing her mechanical balance. The doors shut and the elevator made her boiler slosh as it descended.
It stopped, and she glanced at the floor number, since it was much too soon for her level. The door shuffled open and someone pushed a button, unable to see who until a Walter Worker stood next to her. She froze, looking at them in surprise, before sharply looking at the spines of her books. The intern seemed unperturbed by her presence as the elevator continued, the strange feeling coming not just from her boiler now as she grew concerned.
That or I’m just paranoid, she scoffed. But when had she been wrong? She shifted a little away from them and the elevator jerked to a stop.
As the doors dinged the Walter Guy grabbed her by the large gear on her neck, paralysing her mechanical spine. She bent over, dropping her books and waving about her arms to fight him off, but three other workers pulled them out of the elevator, her books scattered everywhere making her trip. Her hat was knocked off her head as they dragged her down the laboratory hall, two pinning her arms, but it was hardly much use. She kicked and wailed as loud as her vocoder would go but they merely forced her into an empty lab, dragged about like a kitten at the scruff of her neck.
"Pin her down!" The Walter Guy at her neck demanded, and she was forced onto a lab table. They jammed the gear with some wire cutters, nearly being flung about in the process.
"Now we can finally find out what’s wrong with you, you crazy piece of scrap!" The other worker shouted, and she looked at them with wide, terrified eyes. They couldn’t do that, Mr. Walter promised! He promised she’d be safe, that she could have her secrets! No, no, no! She wouldn’t be dismantled, not like this, not now!
The sound of whirring mechanics filled the air and she threw one of them with a hiss of hydraulics. Her body began to heat up with the strain, steam shooting from her vents and sounding like a kettle. The others locked down her legs, but her arms moved too much, and after the member of their party had been tossed like a ragdoll they were sure to be more careful.
They grabbed clamps from the workbench and tightened them around her wrists, forcing out a wail of pain as the metal crunched a bit beneath the teeth, arms pulled wide. She could feel her green matter crystallising as one of her captors took the opportunity to reach inside her head and start to pull out her filters, which glowed brightly in the dim room.
"Time to figure out what makes you tick," the Walter Guy threatened, slicing off the Walter Robotics jacket she always wore as she began to cry. The other employees watched, holding her shoulders back as he picked up a large power tool to strip the screws right off her chassis.
Out in the hall, a young Walter Guy trotted down the stairs, sent to figure out why the elevator wasn’t working. He heard it ding over and over as the doors tried to close but were blocked by a book. Picking it up, Andy looked confused by the mess, noticing an old hat on the ground. His ears perked when he heard a shrieking vocoder screech, bolting into a run down the hall. Stopping at the source, he burst into the lab, seeing Gamma shrieking and crying as her bolts were removed one by one from her loosening chest plate. They were on the last few now, the decorative metal hanging on by a thread. Andy snapped out of it and rushed towards them.
"What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” He shouted, shoving the drill-bearer out of the way.
"Protecting ourselves!" The other yelled right back once he recovered his footing.
"This thing could be a walking bomb for all we know! Haven’t you seen her glitch? Look at Jack over there, he’s out cold!" The Walter Girl messing with Gamma’s head feed pointed to the Walter Guy she’d thrown.
"Maybe if you didn’t attack her she wouldn’t have thrown him?!" Andy insisted, going to Gamma’s side to try and pull out the clippers in her clockwork. The one with the drill grabbed his wrist to stop him.
"You’re about to make a very big mistake." He threatened, fingers tight around a metal wrist.
"You already did." Andy’s face darkened and he used the strength in his robotic arm to push the guy off, knocking him back and tripping over his fallen comrade. "Anybody else have a problem?!" He turned to the other two employees, who put their hands up and backed away slowly as the silver metal glinted in the single lab light.
He quickly went to the button on the wall that calls QWERTY and when the screened AI arrived and made a large 8O Andy began undoing the clamps upon her arms, Gamma gently crying, limp against the metal slab as steam leaked from her nose.
"QWERTY get Six please, and the Matter Masters, we have a situation in lab 7." He informed as he snapped the wire clippers and tugged them out of her neck, shoving the loosened cog back into place, eliciting a pained gasp before freeing the trapped gynoid. QWERTY sent the message as Andy twisted the clamps from her dented, broken chassis, releasing the ankle cuffs as well. Stumbling down from the table’s foothold, she found a lab coat was draped around her shoulders suddenly by mismatched hands and she gripped it around her ruined mechanics, chest plate still hanging loosely, held into place by damaged hands.
She kept running through her mind what she could’ve done differently to prevent what had happened, eyes misty and glistening. She could’ve been upgraded, she could’ve gotten less books, covered up her gear, she could’ve invited Bumble, but she didn’t, none of it! Why didn’t she?! A broken sob crackled through her vocoder, steam rolling out of her head to ease her pressure build up, but it did nothing to ease her pain.
She flinched slightly when Andy touched her arm gently, metal on metal. Her eyes flickered to him and then away, her bellows nearly popped from her screaming and her boiler nearly empty now, she was too weak to resist. She shakily reached up and used bent fingers to quietly drape her filtration tubes back into her head.
As the other three Walter Workers kept their eyes and hands to themselves he could see one of the Guys get fidgety, and in a split second he ran, but Andy was too quick and snatched him from the edge of his uniform.
"Don’t even think about it!" He scowled and shoved him to sit with his buddies, before glaring at the Walter Girl. "You too, over there." She joined them and sat down, Andy turning to Gamma who’s eyes stayed on the floor. “Are… Are you alright? Is there anything I can do?” He hated feeling helpless, frowning when she shook her head, the coat draped tightly around her shoulders, cinched shut by quivering, nervous fingers.
"I-I’m f-fine, I’ll-I’ll b-b-be oka-kay…" She muttered, vocoder gravelly and sounding badly damaged. He didn’t insist any further and there was an uncomfortable silence until the Masters and Six arrived, looking surprised at the scene before them.
"What happened here?!" Six exclaimed, looking at two of the Walter Workers helping their semiconscious friend to sit up. Gamma made a sound like a quiet, gravelly whimper, static in her voice and Andy spoke up for her.
"These guys attacked Gamma in the elevator, I’m guessing and hauled her in here to," he paused, "dissect her, I think.” Matter Mistress Bunny shot silent angry daggers at the four who had disobeyed her orders, and they cringed, not knowing if she could send actual invisible mime daggers at them as well. Matter Master David hauled them all to their feet somewhat angrily, causing Gamma to be a little startled and turn away. Mistress Bunny walked to them and made Matter cuffs to keep them all in line, a little chain gang of magic, and they all winced, and you could tell she was giving them a hell of a talking to with her telepathy.
"Get her out of here, kiddo. Patch her up." Six told Andy, "We’ll deal with these guys."
"Six, please! Trust us, she’s gonna hurt someone! Find out how she works!" One of the Workers pleaded with him. "Please, let us do this!" Six turned to them and stalked up to them, Andy had never seen him mad, nothing like this, even Master David and Mistress Bunny paused to watch.
"You made me break a promise." Six spoke sharply, the worker forced to gaze deeply into the keyhole mask as he towered over them. "I do not break my promises. Especially not pinky ones. And that is unacceptable.” He looked at the Matter Masters and they forced the Workers into a walk, leading them out of the laboratory.
"Take her to a different lab," Six told Andy, turning back to them. "I don’t think she wants to stay here any longer than she has to." He bends down and picks up the scraps of her favourite jacket, rubbing a thumb over the patch with his company’s logo. "You’re lookin’ a little green around the gills." He said gently, bending down a bit, and she looked at him. "I’ll get you another one. I promise." He tore off the patch and handed it to her, before leaving, gesturing for QWERTY to follow him.
Andy stepped to Gamma’s side to follow orders, holding out his arms to give her warning of his touch before gently wrapping an arm around her, resting his hands against her shoulders and guiding her to a different room, switching on the lights. Instead of the table, he sat her on a chair and she kept her eyes down. He quietly rolled over a toolbox, kneeling in front of her.
"Can you hold up the plate please?" He spoke quietly to her, pulling out a box of nuts and bolts, some washers and tools. She shrugged off the lab coat and pressed the metal into place, letting him feed the bolts through and he screwed them on gently. He then picked up her hands, looking at the crunched up wrists, bent and crushed finger joints where the old, thin metal was fought and held.
"I was m-more durable when I was younger…" She said quietly, not meeting his eyes, her voice, with its static, making her sound old and sad. "I’m not meant for fighting any-ymore." He tried his best to smooth out the metal and fix the tiny screws and joints as her limb shook with her voice, "I-if I’d b-b-been upgraded I-I could’ve…"
"What you could’ve done doesn’t matter," He silenced her, "It wasn’t your fault. You’re safe now." She didn’t meet his eyes and he pursed his lips, lifting her chin to look at him, "Hey." She met his eyes, "They won’t let it happen again." She paused, looking at him before nodding quietly, her cores going into cool-down. He finished doing his little repairs upon her hands and she looked not-quite-new, but good enough to pass. He packed up the toolbox and put it away as she slipped on the lab coat and stood up.
"Th-thank you…" Gamma glitched out softly, looking at him but not directly. She raised her hands as if to hug him, but changed her mind, looking as if to shake his hand before giving up.
He smiled slightly at her indecision, and went over to her gently placing his metal hand on her arm, “It’s okay.” She nodded, and put her hands in her pockets, before shuffling to the door. She paused, vocoder making a strange sound. Turning back, she looked insecure.
"Can… Can y-y-you walk me to my room?" She asked, and he smiled and nodded, going to the door and leading her down the hall. Bending down, he picked up her hat from the floor, brushing it off and putting it on her head.
"There. Much better." She smiled weakly at him as he pressed the button to the elevator, the doors opening with a ‘ding!’

Rat-tat-tat, ta-tat-tat-tat!
Bumble rattled along, holding her tummy with a vaguely ill expression. Gamma wrapped her arm around her shoulders gently, making a face of concern. “We need to open you up and make sure everything is okay, you’re running way too rough.” She looked around the quiet hall of Walter Manor, leading her to the abandoned labs. Lunchtime seemed the best to use their tools without being caught. They had permission, but Gamma’s paranoia around the Workers made her hands unsteady.
“O-o-o-o-oka-a-a-y-y-y,” the sick bot replied, looking like she was about to toss up a couple cogs. Opening the door and clearing the area, Bumble stripped and sat on the table and lay back, Gamma fastening her down so she’d stay and pulled the lever to bring the table upright with a loud hydraulic hiss.
Going to the toolbox and looking for some tools, she pulled up a chair and a rolling cart and gathered the parts she needed together. She settled in front of Bumble not long after, sighing and detaching her chest plate, putting it aside. The mechanics all worked furiously to keep the blue bot running, Bumble watching as her friend began to inspect her for the rattling sound, like keys in a washing machine.
“Stop eating things, Bumble, not even humans eat some of this stuff.” Gamma made a face as she shook some of the blue matter buildup residue off her hand. “Gross! Don’t you clean yourself?”
“I-I-I-I fo-orgo-ot.” Bumble replied with a sheepish expression. “If we-e got che-eck ups he-e-ere thou-ugh I be-e-et I-I wou-ould a-alwa-ays be-e cle-ean!” She smiles at the idea, optics focusing on all the high tech tools that surely grant money bought at one time or another.
“Shh, you’re ma-making your insides move.” Gamma chastised and Bumble quieted as her friend stuck her hand behind the large motor, which shook like it was filled with jumping beans.
Unable to find the source of the noise, Gamma huffed and rested her hands on her knees, glowing eyes lighting up the bot. “I can’t find this damn noi-noise!” She complained.
“Ga-a-amma-a,” Bumble tried to interrupt.
“I thought m-maybe a wire came loose and s-s-started hitting the motor but nothing seems to be d-d-doing so.”
“Ga-amma!” Bumble insisted.
“The core is fu-functioning normally so nothing is wrong there.”
“Gamma!”
“What?!” Gamma sat up, looking at Bumble annoyedly, but she just pointed behind her, and she turned around.
A Walter Worker stood there in surprise and Gamma’s face fell. She quickly stood up, handing the chest plate to Bumble, standing protectively in front of her as she began packing up. “C’mon, check up is-is over.”
The Walter Employee approached quickly, “Hey, wait, if you’re having trouble I could help!” He put down the files in his arms but Gamma was already packing up.
“No, we’re fine.” She spoke coldly, not looking at him.
“G-G-a-amma,” Bumble said quietly, and Gamma looked at her, midway through dropping a wrench into the toolbox, and she saw the uncomfortable expression on her face as the rattle echoed in her vocoder, “Le-e-et ‘em he-e-elp plea-ase…”
Gamma huffed out steam and took back the tools, dropping them onto the cart as the Walter Guy sat on the seat she vacated. He took the chest plate from Bumble’s hands and put it aside, leaning forward and pulling a pair of blue gloves from his pocket, poking around a bit, the project needing fresh eyes.
“Well th-then,” Gamma flicked the name tag to see it better a moment, “Andy. What do yo-you suggest.” Her tone was condescending, but he sat up, addressing Bumble kindly.
“If you wouldn’t mind, if you go into deep stasis I could look closer.” He looked for a tool from the cart.
“No, she will n-n-not.” Gamma said frankly.
“Ga-amma.” Bumble actually frowned a bit, “I do-o-on’t need to-o run all the-e time like yo-o-ou do.” Settling back, she closed her eyes and went into stasis mode, her motor slowing as her core picked up the excess energy. Eventually the rumble stopped altogether and the core glowed brightly in its place.
“Y’know, I could always just,” Andy started, thinking of ways to upgrade and improve and Gamma cut him off as she hovered dangerously behind their shoulder.
“Don’t you dare.” Feeling the daggers that shot from her eyes, Andy made a face.
“Okay, okay, calm down.” Switching tools, he started taking off the main motor case to where turbines spun. “There, see?” Reaching inside the now-still motor, Andy twirled the turbine fan until a bolt spilled into their hand with a clink as if it hit metal. “There’s your problem.”
Gamma huffed and looked away, arms crossed as he placed the bolt where it’s meant to go, finding the matching nut on the bottom corner of the casing where it got caught in some wires.
Fastened tightly, he replaced the motor casing and then her chest plate tightly. Smiling with pride, he tilted his head after a pause with confusion, “So uh… How does she turn on?”
“Hold on.” She pursed her silicone lips and hummed the first few bars to You Are My Sunshine. There was a clicking as her motor started up again, steam vents hissing out tones to the tune of ‘my only sun shine’. Andy looked very confused.
“Uh, what was that.”
“We set up a command system for waking up, where the tune would play and she would wake up. It makes it so that it can be played on a timer and she can set when she wants to wake up herself rather than be reliant on me. In case I’m not around.” Gamma explained as Bumble’s eyes flickered open.
“But yo-o-ou’ll alwa-ays be he-ere, ri-ight Gamma-a?” She smiled sleepily at her.
“Y-yeah, Bumblebee, I’ll always b-be here.” Gamma said, helping the bot off the table and setting it into its original position.
“Tha-a-anks for your help!!” Bumble exclaimed, hugging Andy, who stumbled a little under the weight.
“No problem!” He smiled and Bumble let the squishy biological go, replacing her clothes. Gamma made a face, clearly annoyed she couldn’t do it on her own after over a hundred years, but she hated shutting Bumble down for repairs. What if something happened?
Bumble hugged Gamma’s arm to make her feel better. “We could do more repairs for you if you like, maybe give Gamma a break?” Andy looked between the robots.
“Na-a-ah, Ga-amma’s go-o-ot me co-overed!” Bumble assured, smiling.
“M-maybe another time,” Gamma said, looking at Bumble instead.
“What about you?” Andy offered to Gamma.
“No.” She replied firmly, “Let’s go.” Bumble hurried after Gamma as she began to walk away, the rumbly bot making a comical face, and waving to the Walter Guy as he was left behind in the messy lab with nothing but a stack of paperwork and a few stray tools.
what i learned from drawing today during church is. The only walternate i can draw is Walter girl becca today. Also feet are stupid. And dreds look cool long.
for some odd reason i wanted to draw cold weather walternates so i drew. Walter girl becca, Walter girl hanna, Walter girl lotti and Walter girl cialiegh in winter wear. The only one that turned out good was becca.
also drew max. Will post it a second i guess. then reply to those roleplays.
To new followers and probobly old
Hello and thank you for following me, it means alot! But I have a feeling most of you followed me because of Steam Powered Giraffe fanart. I'm afraid I have to tell you that I will not be doing much SPG fanart...
There is of course my Walter OC Sven, who I will be still be drawing lots of since he's my babby. And honestly I'm not sure if I'll be doing any more Evil!Spine, depends on if I have a reason or inspiration for it. I do still really love my Evil!Spine concept, so there might be some drawings in the future when I find inspiration for it.
I'm sorry to all who has followed and expected lots of SPG :c
hello! So I know you're like, one of the biggest blogs there is when it comes to spg, so I thought it would be best to come ask you about a question I had. Ive been hearing a lot lately about blue matter poisening, and it being the reason walter workers are bleach white, and their hair is black and blue. I was wondering if there was a post about this, or if there was any information on why/how this happens? Im super curious.
Okay so I have only been in the fandom since Dec. of 2012. That said, I’ve noticed that blue matter had been in the fandom and the lore, but wasn’t nearly as discussed as it was in 2013 when Walter Girls started going to concerts and things.
At first people were trying to figure out why they were pale. Maybe they were mimes. It was roughly explained that the Walter Girls hair and lips turned blue, and their skin turned white because they had been exposed to Blue Matter. There was a lot of whispers in the fandom of what blue matter poisoning was like. The only authority on the subject came from Bunny during her live streams where she introduced her persona as a Walter worker. Explaining that the Peter’s have several employees off all different races, meaning we could all be Walter workers. Matter Mistress Bunny, she explained, wasn’t affected by the blue matter because she was a mime.
This caused an explosion of people creating Walter Workers. Any race, all white faced with the blue hair and such. Varying degrees of ‘Blue matter poisoning’ because of how much white or blue they could do with their makeup.
At The Walter Robotics Expo on July 18th 2013, in San Diego, California, we got a bit more lore on the subject. Walter Guy Sam was introduced with some videos that played before the concert. From these, what I’ve heard- I can not find in writing- was that he was in the process of being exposed to Blue matter so that he could work with it more. This caused his hair to fall out and vomiting. And from this post by cutepoweredjellyfish
“In one of the videos at WRX that Walter Guy Sam did. He mentioned his tears now burned through clothing among other things.”
Hopefully these videos will be on the WRX DVD that’s still in production. But here is for the Fandom Lore of what I remember Blue Matter Poisoning being like:
The 2nd or 3rd Peter and Wanda Walter, figured out that Blue Matter was having an effect on their health. This is speculated to be why Wanda and Norman Becile still look so young when they are 80+ years old. It has an effect on lifespans. It changes the make up of your genes and things.
To work with Blue Matter you need to be exposed to it in increments. So skin tone changes depending on what level you are exposed. Some are only slightly white, while some also only have blue tips to their hair. For those fully exposed its all white with Black and Blue hair- like the walter girls that work with the bots. Whether these walter workers are also immortal has not been addressed as far as I’ve seen.
Peter Walter the 6th was caught in a blue matter rift explosion taking off most of his face. Speculation is that there is now a blue matter rift for his face and he is also now, immortal.
~~+It is my personal headcanon+~~~
That this also works with other matters such as Green Matter. I feel that if these things affect your physical being they would also affect mentally. Blue matter has helped fuel scientific discovery so I could see that it enhances mental capacity while diminishing peoples social capacity, maybe even language and the like. Perhaps making them more Mime like.
For Green Matter, I see it as a slow grade form of frontotemporal Dementia. Not only would it make people immortal, like blue matter, but increasingly make them psychotic. With symptoms such as:
Increasingly inappropriate actions, lost of empathy and other interpersonal skills, lack of judgement and inhibition, apathy, repetitive compulsive behavior, changes in eating habits- predominately overeating, lack of awareness of thinking or behavior changes
All of which I think explains why the Beciles who discovered Green Matter and worked with it, kinda went off their rocker.
I use this theory in my own fanfic of Kazooland High. Its not explained, its sort of a never spoken fact, of why Boss is so hard on my fanbots.
Still all of this might change with the new pages of the comic coming out. Once we learn more about the Beciles, and Peter the 6th, and the current residents of walter manor! I hope this was what you wanted to know.
