Reposting-Americans should not be permitted to kill exotic animals for fun!! “The Trump administration has authorized a U.S. hunter to import a lion trophy from Tanzania — the first allowed from that country since lions were given protection under the U.S. Endangered Species Act in January 2016. A Florida man received permission to import the lion’s skin, skull, claws and teeth, according to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service records belatedly released under the Freedom of Information Act.” The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International, along with the Humane Society Legislative Fund, are fighting for the CECIL ACT to be passed by Congress. CALL TO ACTION: Urge Congress to pass the Conserving Ecosystems by Ceasing the Importation of Large Animal Trophies (CECIL) Act to ban imports of trophies and parts from African lions and elephants from Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia into the United States. The Minnesota dentist whose killing of Cecil the lion fueled a global backlash emerged Sunday for an interview in which he disputed some accounts of the hunt, expressed agitation at the animosity directed at those close to him and said he would be back at work within days.

I agree with Jimmy Kimmel. I hate it when hunters say they “took” the animal. You took its life. You killed it. It was alive and well. 

Until you shot it.  For fun. If you’re going to kill things, have the damn guts to say it, instead of employing euphemisms to try and make your killing for fun sound sophisticated and civilized.  It’s not.

Cecil the Lion and SeaWorld

People are apparently upset about Cecil the Lion’s death and consider his killer an evil man. This is true.

And how SeaWorld is a horrible place where orcas, dolphins, belugas, other cetaceans and animals are confined to tiny enclosures and chlorinated water.

Yet these same people support the most terrible animal cruelty on factory farms and in slaughter houses. By ignoring or refusing to consider where their food comes from.

Ignorance is not bliss.

Cecil the lion was a wild animal that lived in a nature reserve. He probably lived as good a life as a lion could wish for, before his untimely death.

I can’t say the same for the poor creatures in SeaWorld.

I do not want to belittle how tragic and unnecessary Cecil’s death was or the dreadfulness of trophy hunting and SeaWorlds practices.

But why do people value the lives of some animals over others?

Pigs kept on factory farms (over 95% of pork production) are just as clever as Cecil, with extremely high emotional intelligence. Yet people don’t think twice before scoffing their faces with sausages, pepperoni, rashers, etc.

These animals do not deserve to suffer in the concentration camps that are factory farms, or the horror they face at slaughter, any more than our cats and dogs.

If one is truly upset by the story of Cecil the lion and the SeaWorld inhabitants, as they should be, then they need to seriously look at themselves and consider all of the pain and suffering that they fund.

You can’t be pro animal rights, if those rights only serve to include a select few species while purposely excluding others for your own convenience.

Your money is your vote.
