You spent your whole childhood with Wanda and Natasha at your side, certain the three of you would never drift apart. Then you left for the city, and now coming home means facing everything your absence turned their yearning into.

Many hate on trios, saying there’s always a duo in a trio. That one person left standing just slightly outside the circle.
It was never the case with the three of you.
One shy greeting shared between you all when your families were introduced after Wanda and Natasha moved into town, and somehow the three of you became stuck together as thick as honey. Impossible to separate after that.
You spent countless sunrises to sunsets together. Inside jokes so overused they stopped making sense years ago, yet still sent you rolling onto your backs in laughter with pine needles tangled in your hair. From ages five to eighteen, you watched one another grow up in all the quiet ways that mattered most.
You explored every inch of land surrounding town, knew every trail, every hidden riverbank, every broken fence and abandoned road. Played the same games one too many times.
Spent nights at one another’s houses whispering embarrassing stories into the dark until tears gathered in your eyes from laughing too hard. And sometimes those nights turned softer, quieter. Comforting hands resting on knees when secrets slipped out, insecurities revealed only in the safety of each other.
You grew up with one another. Blew out birthday candles side by side, exchanged stupid Christmas presents every year, learned to drive in the same rusted trucks, and crammed yourselves into diner booths after reckless late-night drives through mountain roads. The whole town knew the three of you together, like your names belonged side by side as naturally as the mountains belonged to the horizon.
Inseparable, never meant to part from one another. Photos of the three of you hung around each other’s rooms, tucked into mirrors and pinned to walls, always leaving space for another year, another memory. Until one evening.
It was supposed to be another sleepover, only older now. The three of you somewhere between eighteen and nineteen, curled up in familiar places with the television humming quietly in the background and empty soda cans cluttering the table. Comfortable in the way only years together could make people.
Then your mother stepped into the kitchen and asked softly if you had told them yet. Their eyes flickered toward you immediately, and your body ran cold.
You couldn’t say it. Could barely even look at them. So your mother did it for you. She told them you were moving away to the city.
And the room lost its warmth.
You had been in New York for almost five years now. You’d finished college, settled into your first full-time job, and quietly reached the point where your life stopped feeling like something temporary and started feeling like something built.
Somewhere along the way, you’d grown into a woman almost unrecognizable from the girl who once ran barefoot through riverbanks and mountain trails. Back home, you grew up in a place where cell service barely existed, where fashion meant whatever clothes survived the week and your father’s boots were just part of the outfit you threw on over pajamas.
Your friends in the city found your childhood charming in that distant, curious way people do when they’ve never lived it. Wine glasses balanced between their fingers as they asked you questions about horses and wide open land and how you could stand living somewhere so small everyone knew everyone. What it was like. Why you left. If you missed it. If you could ever go back.
You always answered lightly, laughing it off, turning your past into something almost like a story instead of something you had lived. But the questions stayed with you longer than they should have, especially the ones about why you left, because you never really had a clean answer for that anymore.
Your parents had long since stopped arguing with you about New York. Now your calls home were softer, stretched out with pauses, your mother asking when you were visiting again and your father pretending not to notice how often you said you were busy. It hadn’t felt urgent before, life always pulling you forward too fast to look back.
But now, for the first time in years, the thought landed differently.
You could go home. There was nothing stopping you anymore.
You had PTO sitting unused, no deadlines pressing against you, no real reason not to leave the city for a while. You could just… go.
The realization settled in your chest in a way that made everything feel suddenly too quiet. That night you called your parents while sitting cross-legged on your couch, laptop open on your knees as flight searches loaded in the background, your finger hovering between dates as your mother’s voice filled your apartment from the speaker.
Your dad picked you up at the airport, giving you a hug so tight your lungs burned. You didn’t mind it. You just shoved your face into his shoulder and held on a second longer than you meant to, breathing in the familiar rough cigarette scent and something older underneath it was motor oil.
It hit you all at once how much you’d been holding back, how much you’d been pretending wasn’t there. How much you’d missed him. How much you still loved him in that deep, uncomplicated way that never really changes no matter how far you go.
When he finally pulled back, his hands stayed on your shoulders like he needed to make sure you were real. “God, look at you,” he said, voice thick in a way he tried to hide by laughing. “Look at my girl… you’re so grown up.”
You smiled at him, soft and a little watery around the edges, eyes matching his in that too-emotional way neither of you commented on. You squeezed his hands like you were grounding yourself through him instead of the other way around. “I miss you…”
“Me too, and so does your mother,” he said, giving your hands a gentle squeeze back as he nodded toward the exit. “Let’s go home… she’s waiting for you there.”
She gave you a just as tight hug, one you fully just broke into, tears slipping before you could even think to stop them. You held onto her like your hands had been waiting years to do that again, arms wrapped around her so tightly it almost felt like you were afraid she might disappear if you let go.
She didn’t rush you. Just held you back just as firmly, one hand steady between your shoulder blades, the other cradling the back of your head like you hadn’t outgrown needing it.
You buried your face into her shoulder, breathing in her shampoo and lotion, the familiar softness of her sweater, the quiet warmth of her that somehow still felt like home even after everything. The air in the house felt different in a way you couldn’t quite place at first.
Cleaner, lighter, like it had been waiting for you to notice it again. And suddenly it hit you how long it had been since you’d taken a full breath without something sitting heavy in your chest.
You exhaled shakily, pulling back just enough to look at her, eyes still glassy. “I’m home…”
“That you are,” she said softly, brushing a thumb beneath your eye like she was still allowed to do that without asking. “We’ve been counting down the minutes.”
Her smile was small, careful, like she was afraid too much emotion might break something.
“We’ve got dinner… please come in.” Then, after a beat, her gaze flicked over your shoulder toward the rest of the house, softer still.
“The house has changed a bit… as you might assume you notice.”
After dinner, when you finally parted for the night, you climbed the creaky stairs slowly, each step familiar in a way your body remembered before your mind fully caught up. They had said the house had changed, and you believed them, until you reached your bedroom door.
The moment you opened it, everything stopped. Your suitcase rolled softly behind you and came to rest in the corner, but you barely noticed. Your feet moved on their own, slow and careful, like you were walking through a memory instead of a room.
Nothing had been moved. Nothing had been replaced. It was all still there, held in time like someone had refused to let it become anything else.
The old quilt on your bed. The faint marks on the wall where posters used to hang. The dresser you’d carved into when you were younger and thought it was funny. The bookshelf still slightly crooked no matter how many times your father tried to fix it. Even the soft smell of dust and old wood and something unmistakably you.
You walked like you were in a movie you weren’t sure you belonged in anymore, fingers brushing over surfaces as things you had forgotten suddenly returned in fragments. Late-night conversations, getting ready for school, lying on your back staring at the ceiling thinking the world would never change.
And yet it had. Just not this room.
You flop onto the bed afe hearing the springs bounce under you. The ceiling stares back at you the same way it always did, familiar in a way that almost feels unreal after so long away. Your eyes drift to your vanity, spotting the photos there, and something in your chest tightens.
You sit up slowly, gaze lingering on them. Smiling faces caught in time. Too many memories packed into small frames, edges slightly worn from years of being looked at and never really put away. You, Wanda, Natasha. Always the three of you.
You wonder what they’re up to, where they are right now. If they’re together. If they’re laughing. If anything about them feels different, or if it’s just you who changed. If they moved on after you left.
Your throat tightens before you can stop it.
You reach over and turn your lamp off for the night before you can let yourself wonder about anything further.
You had some time to warm up to everything again before your parents mentioned that you should attend the city’s small gathering once more, just to greet everyone again, catch up, be seen. It had sounded like a good idea at the time. You missed people from the town you grew up in, missed the familiarity of faces that didn’t feel like strangers even after years apart.
Your parents were going too, a kind of quiet reassurance at your side in case you felt awkward or in case the town had decided you’d become the “city girl” who left and never quite belonged again.
A few hours later, and it had been a fine gathering for the most part. Shaking hands yet again, hugging occasionally, repeating the same softened version of your life until your smile started to feel practiced instead of real. The fire burned bright in the center of everything, casting warm light over familiar faces as the sun fully disappeared and the night settled in.
You excused yourself quietly, slipping away toward the bathrooms just to breathe for a moment, let your shoulders drop where no one could see.
That’s when a truck pulled up. Headlights cut through the dark for a second before shutting off, leaving the engine to tick in the silence. It caught your eye without meaning to.
The door swung open, and your heart stuttered in your chest.
The one with the short, messy hair stepped out first. Except it wasn’t short anymore. Long auburn strands spilled over her shoulders, catching the firelight every time she moved. A cigarette rested between her lips, smoke curling into the night air.
The habit struck you immediately. Unfamiliar against the version of her you’d carried in your head for years.
The second door swung open a beat later. You shouldn’t have been surprised to see her, not really, but the sight of her still knocked the breath from your lungs. She looked older now.
Taller somehow, steadier. Softer in a way that only time could carve into someone. Even her voice, faint beneath the noise of the party, had deepened into something calmer, more mature.
You could hear the two of them talking quietly amongst themselves.
Their names stirred in the back of your mind, dangerously familiar. You shoved the thought down before it could settle, forcing your steps to remain even as you continued toward the bathrooms, pretending your pulse hadn’t suddenly fallen out of rhythm.
Part of you hoped you’d imagined it. That maybe you’d looked too fast, caught the wrong angle in the flicker of firelight and smoke and familiar noise. Maybe she hadn’t seen you at all.
But fate had other plans.
For one fleeting moment, her gaze drifted lazily across the crowd. Casual, distracted. Then it found you right as you reached the edge of the building and stepped inside.
You pushed through the bathroom door quickly, the cold fluorescent light washing over you as you gripped the edge of the sink for a second longer than necessary. Your pulse still hadn’t settled. You turned on the faucet anyway, letting the icy water run over your hands just to give yourself something else to focus on, but you can't.
Five fucking years. You dried your hands slowly against your jeans as you stepped back into the mosquito-filled air, already planning to keep your head down and walk straight past them.
“Hi,” she said softly.
Guilt and awkwardness climbed up your throat so fast it almost made it hard to answer.
“Hi.”
The word came out quieter than you intended.
Silence settled between you almost immediately, thick and uncomfortable. You weren’t sure what you were supposed to say to her anymore—or if you were supposed to say anything at all. The two of you hadn’t spoken since the day you left for the city. No calls. No texts. Nothing except years of distance stretching wider and wider until it became easier to pretend it didn’t matter.
Maybe this was how things were supposed to go.
People faded. Friendships lost their grip. Not everyone you met was meant to become part of your foundation. Some people were only passing branches, temporary things meant to break away eventually.
You told yourself that was all this was. Five years was a long time to hold onto someone. You shifted slightly, already preparing to step around her and leave the conversation exactly where it stood. Brief, polite before Wanda spoke again.
"You changed your hair,” she commented, her eyes drawing carefully over you.
“Yeah, I did…” you breathed out, wiping at your bicep when you felt what was probably a mosquito land there.
“It looks nice. Seems like you’ve really been taking care of yourself.”
The compliment sat awkwardly between you. You shifted your weight, one foot already turning away like you were preparing to leave the conversation before it had the chance to become anything more. Still, you could feel Wanda’s gaze lingering on you. And another from farther away, heavier somehow, burning into your skin.
Curiosity got the better of you. You glanced toward the truck near the fire and found Natasha already watching you. The flame from her lighter illuminated her face for a brief second as she lit another cigarette, smoke curling past her lips as she leaned back against the truck.
“Not too sure,” you admitted. “However long I can stretch my PTO. I’m getting time with my parents.”
Something flickered across Wanda’s face at that. Small enough that you almost missed it. The mention of family. The quiet implication beneath your words. That you came back for them, not for this, not for her.
No mention of catching up. No offer to see each other again. Still, she smiled softly, the kind that felt more polite than personal now. “Well… it was nice seeing you.”
“You too.”
The words felt strange leaving your mouth.
Wanda gave a small wave before turning and heading back toward the fire, her figure slowly blending into the warm glow and drifting smoke. You started in the opposite direction, hands shoved into your pockets, but after a few steps you glanced back over your shoulder anyway.
It wouldn’t be a small town without its monthly farmer’s market.
Your parents had driven the three of you into town early that morning, and for once, you didn’t mind staying close to them. It gave you something familiar to hold onto. The market buzzed around you with soft music, overlapping conversations, and the scent of kettle corn drifting through the warm air. You pointed out different stands to your mom, teased your dad over overpriced honey, and exchanged polite smiles with a few familiar faces from years ago.
It almost felt normal.
By the time you stopped at the smoothie stand near the edge of the market, the heat had already settled into your skin. You held your mango smoothie in one hand while waiting for the larger one your parents planned to split, half-listening to the blender roaring behind the counter.
Then a voice slipped into the space beside you.
“Mango? Always been your favorite.”
Your stomach tightened before you even looked up.
Wanda stepped beside you casually, hands tucked into the pockets of her jacket despite the warmth outside. Her hair was pulled back loosely today, auburn strands catching in the breeze.
“You ordering one?” you asked, trying to sound more relaxed than you felt. Almost pushing her away again.
She hummed softly, glancing up at the menu board. “Maybe. I’m deciding.” A small smile tugged at her mouth. “This stand’s new. Only been here about two years.”
She glanced away from the menu for a moment, eyes settling on you. “How’s the city been?”
The question made your stomach sink unexpectedly, like there was too much wrapped inside those four words. Your fingers tightened slightly around the smoothie cup as you silently wished your parents’ order would be ready already.
“Uh, yeah…” you muttered, shifting your weight. “It’s good. A lot.”
Wanda smiled anyway, like she understood the awkwardness behind it. “Still overwhelming?”
“Pretty much all the time.”
“I can imagine,” she said softly. “Forty people in one gathering is about enough for me. I can’t imagine being surrounded by that many people all the time. Always somewhere to go.”
You hummed, feeling yourself loosen slightly at the subject. Talking about the city was easier than talking about yourself. Easier than talking about the five years sitting between the two of you.
“It’s not as bad as people think,” you admitted, glancing down at your drink. “Everyone kind of stays in their own lane. It feels like you actually get your own space there.”
You paused briefly before adding quieter, “Doesn’t feel as suffocating. Or like everyone’s watching you all the time.”
Your name was called from the stand. Relief flickered through you immediately. “That’s mine,” you said, half a step backward as you pointed toward the counter. You grabbed your parents’ smoothie when it was handed over, the cold cup grounding you in something simple again.
Wanda was still there. Feeling awkard to say goodbye, but even more not to say anything at all. You turned back to her, something small and almost unintentional softening your expression. Not quite a smile, not quite nothing either.
“Uh… it was good seeing you,” you said quietly.
Wanda nodded once, gentle. “Yeah. You too.”
You held her gaze for a second longer than you meant to, then shifted your weight away, your parents already drifting toward the next stall.
“Take care,” you added, voice lighter now.
"You too."
You lay in bed, covers pulled up to your chest, staring at the ceiling while the quiet of your room presses in around you. Your eyes drift again and again to the photos still pinned along your vanity mirror. Snapshots of a life that feels both distant and uncomfortably close.
You shift restlessly beneath the blankets, your thoughts swinging between extremes, almost hot and cold the way Wanda and Natasha feel in your chest.
Part of you circles the idea of mending it.
Of letting the distance soften, of allowing something polite and careful to form again. Something that doesn’t demand too much, just enough to acknowledge what you once were without pretending it never existed.
It's similar to Wanda, who's already reaching, in her way. Small steps. Easy conversations. A version of reconnection that doesn’t feel like it would swallow you whole if you tried.
The second part, one that looks at Natasha and feels that familiar finality settle in your bones. The part that questions why you would even try to rebuild something that already burned itself down so completely.
What would it even mean to go back there? What would you be rebuilding, exactly. Friendship, history, or just the echo of something you’ve already outgrown?
It pulls you in two directions at once, neither one fully letting go.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, you realize it isn’t really about choosing between them. It’s about choosing which version of the past you’re willing to carry forward with you.
You pulled your jacket tighter around yourself, watching the clouds shift into something ugly overhead. Thick, swollen, and dark enough to swallow the horizon. They rolled together into one continuous mass as far as you could see, the air turning heavy with the metallic scent of rain before it even started falling.
You tapped your foot against the floor near the counter, impatience building as you waited for the last of the payment to go through for your parents’ horse feed. One more errand. One less thing for them to worry about. That was the idea, anyway.
The cashier finally nodded toward the card reader. “You’re good to swipe or tap.”
“Thanks,” you muttered, relief already loosening your shoulders.
The bell above the door jingled as you stepped outside.
You had wished for no rain. And the sky answered anyway.
It hit fast. Cold wind first, then the first scattered drops, and then all at once the world opening up above you. You hurried toward the car, already regretting the jacket you chose, the timing, the entire day.
You had wished to get home safe. And the car responded by slowing like it was thinking about giving up entirely.
A sputter. A shake. Then silence.
“No. No, no, no—come on,” you groaned, gripping the wheel as if that alone could convince it otherwise. You slumped forward, pressing your forehead against it for a second before letting out a long, defeated breath. “Damn it… of course. God fucking damn it.”
Of course it was the old car. Of course it was your parents’ old everything. Old house, old roads, old feed store that took forever to get anything done.
You shoved the door open and stepped out into the rain immediately soaking through your jacket. Cold water ran down your arms as you moved behind the car, placing your hands against the trunk.
“Please,” you muttered under your breath, as if the car might suddenly develop empathy. You pushed.
At first it barely moved, tires digging into wet ground that was already turning fast into mud. You leaned harder into it, boots slipping slightly with each effort. Rain blurred your vision, plastering your hair to your face, soaking through everything faster than you could adjust.
More time passed. And your arms started to burn. Your breath came sharper. The car barely shifted an inch.
“Come on,” you hissed through clenched teeth, pushing again, harder this time.
The ground gave out beneath one step, your foot slid out from under you instantly. You hit the mud first—hard—then felt the sharp sting as your face followed, your lip splitting on impact. A copper taste filled your mouth almost immediately, mixing with rainwater as it ran down your chin.
You froze for a second, breath shaking, rain hammering down around you like it was trying to erase you entirely. Your fingers lifted instinctively, brushing over your lip. No, your nose. Or wherever it is the blood had started to show after slamming into the back of the car.
“God,” you muttered again, voice rough as you pushed yourself upright, wiping at your face with the back of your hand. It didn’t help much. Everything was already soaked anyway. Rain, mud, and now a thin streak of blood that refused to blend in.
You turned back toward the car, still half-focused on trying to salvage the situation, when headlights cut through the storm in the distance.
At first, it was just relief. Sharp and immediate. Someone. Anyone.
You held a hand over your eyes, squinting through the rain as she stepped out of the truck. Her boot sank slightly into the mud, dark water splashing around it, but she didn’t seem to care.
You opened your mouth to explain. Something halfway between it just died and I’ve got it handled... but she cut you off before you could get a word out.
“The hell are you doing?” Natasha’s voice cut through the storm, sharp enough to feel like it landed harder than the rain.
Something in your chest snapped hot immediately.
Not fear. Not embarrassment.
Frustration. Honestly, it might’ve even started the second you saw her truck.
“What does it look like I’m doing, you ass?” you shot back, wiping rain from your face again only for it to be replaced instantly. “The car stopped. It’s not starting again and I’m just trying to go home!”
She made it across the road, crouching slightly to peer into your stalled car as rain battered both of you. You stood there beside it, completely soaked now.
Tears dripping into your eyes, clothes heavy and clinging to your skin, mud tracking up your legs. Everything felt cold, uncomfortable, wrong. The only thing you could think about was a hot shower waiting somewhere on the other side of this mess.
Natasha straightened again, voice carrying over the storm.
“I can’t help you out here,” she called. “I’ll drive you back and tow your parents’ car.”
There wasn’t much room for argument in the way she said it.
The passenger seat of her truck felt like another world entirely. Your soaked clothes squeaked faintly as you sat down. You stared straight ahead for a moment, hands awkward in your lap, trying to settle your breathing. Time only moved forward, you reminded yourself. Second by second, and you're moving forward to this moment ending.
Natasha was already outside again, hooking your car up, rain running off her shoulders as she worked. Then she climbed back into the driver’s seat like the storm didn’t touch her the same way it touched everyone else.
The truck rumbled slightly as she started it. Silence settled in immediately after, just the low hum of the AC. The steady drum of rain against the windshield. The faint creak of metal as the tow line tightened behind you.
You stared out at the blurred world beyond the glass, rain streaking sideways in the headlights as the truck rolled steadily forward.
“Thank yo—” you started, the words catching in your throat before they could fully form.
Natasha hit the brakes. Hard.
The sudden stop snapped you forward against the seatbelt, breath punching out of your lungs as the world jerked into stillness. The tow line behind you creaked under tension. Rain hammered the windshield like it was trying to break through.
“I just can’t fucking believe that you’re back. Why in the world did you come back? You’re so incredibly selfish, you understand this?”
For a second, you just stared at her, rain and adrenaline still ringing in your ears.
“Excuse me?” you say, sharper now.
Natasha lets out a short laugh, but there’s no humor in it. She looks back out at the road like she already regrets turning toward you in the first place.
“Yeah,” she mutters, “excuse you.”
The wipers drag back and forth, useless against how hard it’s coming down.
You open your mouth again, but she cuts in before you get anything out.
“No, don’t… don’t even start explaining like there’s a good version to any of this,” she says, voice tighter now. “Not ‘I wanted to chase my dreams.’ You only told the two of us when your mom brought it up. Like something you were never even going to tell us until you just left. And I don't even want to know how you told your sweet parents."
“Natasha—!”
“Two friends, people who’ve known you since birth,” she continues, faster. “You don’t think we deserve an official goodbye? Any explanation? Before you get up and leave for five years? And oh yeah, 'I got your little things done, so let me just come back because I missed it?' You expect everything to just be fucking peachy dandy? Two people you’ve known for your whole life, who’ve been nothing but everything to you. You can’t even afford the decency to say goodbye? What a fucking joke you are.”
You throw your hands up, opening the car door. “I can’t do this.”
She’s out almost immediately, slamming her door behind her.
“Run away,” Natasha snaps after you, voice cutting through the storm. “Very you. Don’t confront anything head-on."
You whip around to face her.
“So what is it with you? Do you want to drive me home, or should I drive? Because this is—”
“This is what?” she interrupts, stepping closer. “You tell me. What is it with you? Why did you want to leave everyone here who’s cared about you? Truly?”
Her voice rises slightly now, not quite yelling, but close.
“How’re the fake friends in New York?” she throws in, sharp and quick. “You like the money? The title of being in New York instead of this nothing town?”
A beat.
“It’s all wonderful, right? Until you need to think about something that actually means something to you. That’s why you came back. You’re not truly satisfied there and you know it. Why the hell did you even lea—”
“Because Natasha, I’ve had nothing done nothing! My siblings have done outstanding things, and all I have ever done is mess around. I tossed pencils into a cup with you and Wanda instead of studying. My sister was in honors at my age, while I was covered in mud. My parents expect more. I can’t be the loose end in my family.... I.."
She huffs. “You know how much your parents missed you when you were gone? I made up excuses to come by just to try and cheer them up. They worried they messed up with you. Wondered why you left so far away when you seemed so happy here.”
You wave your hands. “Can we just… don’t…”
“Sure,” she says, tone flat, unimpressed, already done. Climbing back into her car.
The drive is even more silent than before, Natasha reaching to try to light a cigarette on the rest of the drive.
You glance at her. “Terrible habit, but I’m not surprised.”
She huffs, setting the pack back in the cup holder. “Wanda’s been entirely too sweet to you. I’ve been telling her."
She pulls up at your parents’ house, unattaching the car. She waves to your parents, who look worried on the front porch, before her car hums off into the distance, not a wave your way. But your heart feels warmer, soften even... despite the harsh words thrown at each other. You slept that night, feeling a little less like bricks were laying on you.
The argument in the storm had been the dam that broke everything. After that, something in the air between you all shifted. Not healed, but loosened just enough to breathe through. The past hurt feeling like a river cried, and the bridge beginning to form again.
Despite it all, you started smiling a little when you ran into them. In a small town, it was impossible not to. There were only so many places to go, only so many corners of town you could avoid before they stopped feeling avoidable at all.
At the diner, it was a brief wave.
At the little store downtown, it was Wanda holding the door open while Natasha lingered near the counter, pretending not to notice you.
At the gas station, it was a quiet exchange of “hey” that lasted a few seconds longer than it used to.
It wasn’t smooth. But it wasn’t as sharp anymore either.
Each time, you found yourself staying a little longer. Saying a little more. Laughing, sometimes, before you had time to stop yourself. The awkward edges didn’t disappear, but they softened enough that you stopped bracing for impact every time you saw them.
And slowly, without any real announcement, things started to settle into something that resembled a pattern.
Wanda always spoke first. Careful, warm, like she was still trying to build a bridge between where you were and where you used to be.
Natasha stayed quieter, but she didn’t leave. She lingered in the background of conversations more often than not, watching, listening, occasionally throwing in something blunt that cut through the softness without fully breaking it.
It confused you, how something so fractured could still hold together in motion. And eventually, even your parents noticed.
“You’ve been running into them a lot lately again,” your mom said one evening over dinner, her tone light, but threaded with something warmer. “It makes me really happy… I was happy your friendship could rekindle. I had hope.”
“It’s trying…” you said, a little uncertain.
Your mom hummed softly, poking at her food. “It was a hard time when you left. Hit them hard, as it did us. Sweet women, they are. They’d come and help us with some chores. The ones you used to cover. They’d ask how you were doing…”
She glanced up at you then, softer now.
“Well... anyways, I’m just happy you’re all talking again. They’re gold. Don’t let go of them, alright darling? True gold, not false. Rare."
It had begun to bloom.
Not in any sudden, obvious way. Nothing you could point to and name, but in the slow return of ease. In the way your shoulders stopped tensing when you saw them. In the way conversations started lasting longer without feeling like you were walking on glass.
You found yourself revisiting places you hadn’t thought about in years.
The riverbank you used to sit at as a kid looked smaller now, quieter in a different way. The water still moved the same, but everything around it had changed just enough to remind you how much time had passed. You pointed things out absently when they were with you, half-laughing at old memories you weren’t sure you should still remember so clearly.
Your bed felt warm, like home each time you laid your head.
While you felt free, the two women felt caged still.
A weight still sat on their shoulders. Something unspoken, something that hadn’t dissolved just because time had passed and you were back in the same rooms again.
It lingered in the things they didn’t say.
In the way Natasha’s gaze flicked to you when she thought you wouldn’t notice.
In the way Wanda’s anger never quite found a place to land. It rose, once, briefly. Then dissolved the moment she saw you again, as if relief outweighed everything else. As if having you in front of her made it impossible to hold onto anything sharp for long.
It lived in hesitation, too. In the smallest pauses before speaking your name. In fingers that twitched, almost reaching, then curling back into themselves like restraint was a habit they couldn’t break.
In how their hearts betrayed them in quiet ways. Faster when you laughed, heavier when you looked away, uneven in your presence as if something inside them had never learned how to settle properly without you.
It lived in the nasty habit Natasha took upon herself. Smoke easing into her lungs instead of you. Into the nights the two of them spent together, the silence after as they occasionally grieved your presence.
Living to see a photo of you on social media, but too scared to follow.
It felt finate, your friendship. But the love that resonates in their hearts is infinite. And your distance, only strengthened it.
Your PTO is to come to an end. And this time, you inform others of your possible upcoming departure. It was brought up when they asked, settled into your bedroom. With a sunken heart, you come to realize the impending return date. Less than a week away. It felt as if a timer had offcially started. A stop watch starting, cointing down the seconds. Raising a feeling underneath everything. A question, a conflict to be resolved… hoping to be.
A sunken feeling settled in your chest as the return date became real in a way it hadn’t been before. Less than a week. A line drawn too clearly now to ignore.
It felt like something had started counting down. Haunting.
Tomorrow is your flight.
You sit with the two of them, checking into your flight. The room had been lively, until now. The clock louder than ever before.
"Sad I have only a couple hours really left... But we have each other's numbers... We can always text, or call..?"
"Right, yeah..." they had responded, dejected.
You hugged them, smiling—one that didn’t quite reach your eyes—before you got into the Uber. You waved goodbye to everyone: your parents, Wanda, Natasha. The dust kicked up behind the car as it pulled away, carrying you toward the airport, toward the flight.
You bit your nail, watching the world blur past the window, something tight settling into your chest. Your heartbeat felt too loud in your ears, uneven in a way you couldn’t quite settle. You kept swallowing it down, shifting your focus, pinching at your skin just to stay grounded in something physical.
It felt off. Wrong, even.
You walk toward security, lugging your suitcase behind you. Each step feels heavier than the last, like the airport itself is pulling you forward whether you want it to or not. The noise around you fades in and out. Announcements, rolling bags, footsteps, until it all starts to feel distant, muffled, like you’re already halfway gone.
Your mind keeps catching on moments you didn’t realize you were holding onto. Wanda’s laugh in your room. Natasha’s voice cutting through rain. The way silence between you all had started to feel less like absence and more like something full. Something you hadn’t known how to name until it was already slipping out of reach again. Like you don't what you have, how you feel until it's gone.
You swallow hard, forcing your grip tighter on your suitcase handle, like that could keep you steady. Like that could keep anything steady. Each step feels slower. The clock in your head ticking down the last few seconds you didn’t want to hear.
Your body is tense, too aware. Too tightly held.... until your name is shouted behind you.
For a second, you almost don’t believe it.
Then again.
Louder.
You turn, as something in your chest breaks loose before you can think about it. You drop your suitcase immediately and start moving before you even realize you’ve started running.
The space between you disappears too fast. And then you’re there, hugging the two women.
Hugging them tight, like if you let go too soon it would confirm every fear you’ve been trying not to name. They pull you in just as close, like neither of them had any intention of letting you be the one to hold on alone.
The pressure builds in your chest all at once. Too much feeling, too much time compressed into a single moment, and it spills over before you can stop it. Tears blur your vision, warm and sudden, and you don’t bother hiding them.
You don’t want to go home.
Because home isn’t the airport, or the city, or the life waiting for you past security.
Home is right here in your arms.
Wanda's or Natasha's home. You’re unaware and uncaring of whose it is as you're shoved inside with passion.
Your arms are wrapped around Natasha's neck, lips pressed to one another. The kiss is deep and unmoving. Her body pins you to the wall, and she grabs your thigh to wrap it around her waist. She holds you close, tightening her grip as she pulls you in. She tastes like the smoke she’s always inhaling and some unnamed, basic brand of chapstick.
You gasp, tugging at her hair as you melt into the kiss. Your body feels so warm and tingly that you believe you're floating. Wanda shuts and locks the door, coming up behind you to slide her hands down your chest while her lips lock onto your neck, listening to the little sounds you make.
Your shirt is tossed aside by Wanda, bra is shoved down so she can feel along your chest. To feel your nipples harden from her fingers tracing them. Your legs buckle under their touch, and they catch you to lead you toward the bed.
You fall back onto the bed, looking up at the two of them with lidded eyes, dressed only in your bra and bottoms. Wanda removes her shirt and lays over you, mumbling quiet comments about your body.
She whispers how gorgeous you are and how you’re stunning, "like a dream."
She tells you how good you look under her as she climbs on top, slotting her lips against yours. You reach a hand up to tug at her hair, squirming under the weight of her body. Pushed into the mattress by her hips slotting between yours. Hips grinding against one another.
Wanda kisses down your body, her lips latching onto your nipple for a moment.
"Mm—!"
You jolt, a whine escaping you at the contact as your thighs rub together. You're seeking more already, which brings a cocky, knowing look to her expression.
She continues to kiss down your body and across your abdomen. She skips over the area you want, instead kissing up your inner thighs while her thumbs hook into your underwear.
"This alright?"
You nod. "Mm... 's alright..."
She slides them down while keeping eye contact, creating a deeper sense of heat. You reach out to cup her cheek, pulling her up to kiss you for another moment before she heads back down again to hover over where you want her most.
She blows against your clit, watching you as you shiver, your hands clutching at the sheets. It takes no longer than a minute to have you clutching at the headboard, moans slipping from your lips as she slides her tongue between your folds.
She presses her tongue against your clit, rubbing it there and making it feel almost as if it's vibrating. You keen and whine, rolling your hips against her face. You smear your arousal around her face as if it isn't already dripping down your thighs and onto the sheets.
Your chest rises and falls, your back arching. You give her a view she wishes could be captured in a Renaissance painting.
As you come down from your high and the pressure is released from between your hips, she gives you zero time before sliding a finger into you.
"O-oh—!"
"So tight," she teases. "Squeezing my finger..."
She licks at your inner thigh, biting down and littering the skin with hickeys, bruising it. She slides in a second finger, moving it alongside the one already inside you. You shove your face into the side, moaning into the pillow to muffle the sound.
"God...!" you squeak, mewling. "There...! There, please... oh...!"
She hums, kissing your collarbone. She places sweet kisses there before adding a third finger, one that stretches you delightfully well. Wanda seems gentle, as she is, but her fingers are large and she is something else in bed.
Watching you come down from your high a second time, Wanda slides her fingers out, licking the excess off. She looks back, noting Natasha's presence and the strap settled on her hips.
She moves to you, seeing the breathless, dazed expression on your face. Natasha manhandles you onto your back, raising your hips.
"Mm..! 'tasha...!"
"Keep 'em there," she commands, her hand resting on your hips to indicate exactly where she wants you to hold yourself. She rubs the length between your folds and against your ass, watching it catch your arousal almost like lube before she presses it fully at your entrance. She pushes all the way through, until she hits the hilt.
Noting how you rub your hips back as if you were in heat, grinding against her, she grips your ass and pulls back before pushing in again. She brings you to a keen, your mind completely lost.
Your face is smudged into the sheets, gripping them and making a mess as you take her the best you can. Wanda comes to the other end of the bed, leaning in to kiss you deeply.
You kiss back as best as you can. "I... I love you... I love you..."
Her expression softens, and both of theirs do. Wanda brushes her thumb against your cheek. "And we love you, so much."
"I... mm! Mm.. n-not leaving... e-ever—oh!"
Wanda hums, leaning back. She slides herself forward, her pussy on full view in front of you. You can feel the heat as her legs spread wide, opening herself up for you.
Before you can take anything into your own hands, Natasha’s hand shoves your face down into Wanda's cunt. You moan, rolling your hips back and liking the gesture. Your lips and nose are shoved into Wanda's cunt, while Natasha stretches you out around her length.
Wanda’s head is tilted back. "Ohhh baby, there... mm... dreamt about this."
You use your tongue and lips to worship her, driven by the rhythmic, heavy thrusts of Natasha behind you. The friction of the strap-on and the heat of Wanda’s skin create an overwhelming sensory overload. Your breath is hitching, muffled against Wanda’s thighs, as you work to keep pace with the frantic movement of your own hips.
Natasha leans over you, her chest pressing into your arched back as she whispers darkly into your ear. "If you don't make Wanda come, you get nothing else tonight. Focus on her."
The threat, or promise, sends a fresh jolt of adrenaline through you. You double your efforts, your tongue flicking and swirling with desperate precision until Wanda’s hands lock into your hair, her hips jerking upward in a sudden, violent spasm. She cries out your name, her walls clenching around your face as she reaches her peak.
Seeing Wanda shatter is the final straw for your own control. As she collapses back against the pillows, Natasha delivers several hard, deep lunges that hit exactly where you need. You let out a broken, high-pitched moan, your internal muscles seizing as your own climax crashes over you.
The room falls silent, save for the heavy, synchronized sound of three people catching their breath. Natasha pulls away, sliding out of you and collapsing onto the bed beside you both, pulling your shaking body into the middle of their warm, protective tangle
You spent so long trying to leave this town behind, but looking at them now, you know you’re never going to find a reason to say goodbye again.

“I don’t think Natty will mind just one missing.”
Wanda has always been entranced by how softly you exist. The windows are open throughout the house; Natasha has the air-conditioning off everywhere besides the recently refinished basement permissively. The heatwave that had settled over New York for the last two weeks had cleared abruptly last night for the forecast today, and you’d all been in agreement to take advantage of the breeze that drifted through the branches. Your hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail preemptively, though your cheeks were flush regardless of the attempt to stay cool. The kitchen counter was your chosen sanctuary from the heat — you’re learning that your medication hates anything above seventy-eight degrees fahrenheit. You’re going to ask Natasha for two french braids later, you’ve already told Wanda all about it, but for now you sit on the counter sporting a messy ponytail and baby hairs that cling to your temple, naked feet swinging against the white oak cabinets creating hollow thumps with an undeniable rhythm to them. You look soft as Wanda looks up from her cutting board to assess your seriousness. It takes her back a breath; leads you to believe you’d gotten somewhere.
“See, and I think she will.” Wanda waves her knife around with a kind of finesse you’ve only seen exaggerated by Mother Gothel in the tower. If her hips weren’t concealed by the island she leaned against, you’d be sure they were swaying with a seductive taunt.
She’s cutting up strawberries for the fruit salad Yelena requested. It’s the last fruit before she’s done. She’s placed you in charge of making sure no flies sneak into the big mixing bowl before she can put the lid on and stick it in the refrigerator. Yelena will know if a fly has touched even one diced peach.
Your clammy cheeks fill with air. The glittery lipgloss you’d lathered on thick settles into the wrinkles of your lips as you purse them petulantly. Your eyebrows that she’d plucked meticulously last night furrow downward cutely, though she supposes they're meant to convey your anger; dejection clear as day on your porcelain features. Wanda Maximoff envies your complexion. The sun bounces off your high points angelically, the sheen of heat that tints you pink effortless and charming. “I’ll take a cherry one!” It’s a good tactic. Nobody likes the cherry one. But Wanda’s not in the business of breaking to you.
Her eyes cool. The delicious green that reminds you of the center of a fresh and perfectly ripe kiwi becomes emerald; dark, captivating, albeit chilling. The pucker of your lips becomes a pout as your shoulders sink beneath the weight of her gaze becoming a stare. “What did Natty tell you?”
Your arms cross over your belly. The only tell that it's an act of protection and not defiance is the way your open palms wrap around your midsection, nervous fingernails digging into soft flesh that pools over white-knuckle digits from the pressure. What is an act of defiance is the way your heels kick harder into the cabinets off rhythm. The thumps are less hollow now, but they fail to deliver the attitude you’re suddenly convinced you can emulate. Wanda wants to laugh. She will laugh later. Just not right now.
“Do that again and you’re off my counter.” It’s not a threat but a promise. Your chest swells with something tight and convincing. It wants to act. To lash out. It’s warm and you hate it but it feels like you have to listen to it. “What did Natty tell you about the popsicles?” She can see the frustration welling up inside of you like helium filling a cheap latex balloon. She chooses to take pity on you as your nails dig harder into your sides, a habit they’d both tried every method in the book to try to help you stop.
“That I had to wait until the party because there wasn’t anymore of the kind that I like at the store if I ran out before the end of the night.” Somehow, you’ve found a way to keep the air in your cheeks as you answer her, and Wanda doesn’t try to fight the wrinkle of amusement that tugs at the corner of her lips as she watches you try to figure out how you can control this situation, still not entirely willing to just let her be the one to think.
Wanda hums, looking back down at her strawberries. Yelena really is lucky she loves her. There’s at least five pounds of hand diced fruit sitting between both counters in the kitchen now. “And the last time we didn’t have any during a pool day, you passed out in the pool. So having one right now is not an option no matter how cute you look all grumpy.”
Wanda notices the way your eyes roll, but she chooses to let you think you’ve gotten away with your attitude as she uses the back of the knife to clear more space on her board for the last handful of strawberries. Natasha had done an impeccable job picking them out at the store. Years of heated lecturing had seemed to finally pay off.
The grey shorts you’d chosen to throw over your bathing suit gap around your thighs as you sit on the kitchen counter, occasionally glancing down at the large glass bowl. Your hands shoved a couple of flies away in the time you’d been sitting out here with Wanda, but nothing extensive or stimulating. Wanda peaks at the ties of your bikini bottoms poking out from between the fabric, the festive color scheme you’d chosen perfect for the holiday ahead of you. Your attention is waning as the minutes seem to take longer to pass the more your mind thinks about how your head is spinning and your face is hot and a popsicle would taste so good right now. They’re some fancy kind that Natasha buys at this specific shoppe in Manhattan. She’d introduced you to them the first week of summer, just six weeks after you’d started medication. They’re the only popsicles you’ll eat, and the only cold treat you can stomach when heatstroke is beginning to claim you as a victim. Their avoidance of you having one isn’t malicious. It’s tactical. But you’ve been nervous about this party for weeks. It’s the first time you’re throwing a party as a couple. It’s the first time they’re throwing a party for all of their individual and combined friend groups since getting back together. They’re convinced there’s nothing to prove by keeping appearances up, but you’ve been overworked for days just thinking about all the ways this could go wrong.
“Get your little fingers out of my fruit.” Wanda chastises without even glancing up. Her knife slices through the last strawberry top just as your foot kicks the cabinet beneath you. Your cheeks fill with air again, but this time anger is portrayed clearly across your face, as is a glint of something innocent and traumatized beneath your eyes. Wanda wants to kill all the people who made you into this, even if it heals something inside of her that’s broken at the hands of similar treatment. “You’re all done. Go sit on the couch and wait for Natty to come inside and braid your hair.”
“But I was just—” You try to argue, panic rising in your chest as Wanda sends you away. Natasha’s out in the backyard fixing the last of the tents she’d dug out of storage. Apparently, there was once a time her company hosted a lot of barbecues for the families. Regardless of why she has them, assembly had taken almost the entirety of the morning, her appearances within the house coming few and far between
“Testing limits that you know won’t budge.” Wanda cuts you off, setting her knife down on the cutting board and pressing flat palms into the island. It’s a move of subtle dominance. Her chin twists as she tilts her gaze at you, almost daring you to tell her she's wrong. “Go wash your hands and wait on the couch.”
“Can I go sit with Natty?” You shrink into yourself as your hands grab the edge of the counter, tears feeling like they want to well up in your eyes as you stare back at Wanda with an innocent hopelessness. You’re almost there. Almost past the verge of trying so hard to protect yourself from emotions you just need the space to feel and let pass.
She shakes her head. Her hair is in a bun at the top of her head. There are a couple curly strands that fall to frame her face and cover the single studded piercings she has in her lobes. She wears a button up as a coverup, and it’s splashed with pineapple juice that exists with a yellow-hue, but she still looks perfect. “Where did I tell you to go?”
“B-But—”
“You do not want to bring butts into this, Sunshine. Yours will be mighty pink if that's the route you want to take.” Wanda warns and your cheeks redden from heat, but not the kind brought by the brightness of the sun that shines without clouds to cover its rays. Butterflies bloom in your belly and up through your chest, a soft and sweet whine crawling up your throat as you shake your head.
“No.” You whisper, plead. Your soft eyes match Wanda’s stare, teary and bright as they glisten from across the room. Wanda has no intentions of spanking you. She’s never laid a hand on you in this state. But you’ve expressed that it’s not a hard no. That you trust them both enough to decide when you’re showing signs of needing something more than your brain can handle giving you alone. “No please.” She can see the panic becoming desperation, but she can’t get the words out fast enough. You’re dissolving into a headspace that she cherishes, but knows you need guidance to see through, otherwise it gets messy, and it takes days for you to pull yourself out of a darkness that consumes your soul miserably.
She smiles softly, nodding her head toward the living room with a look that you’ve been yearning for since you started pushing buttons. “Then get that little butt on the couch and take a couple of minutes to breathe with Monkey.”
“Okay.” You whisper, sliding off the counter with your head pointed toward the floor. God, Wanda loves you more than words can even describe.
“Come give me a kiss first.” She commands and you don’t have to be told twice, making a b-line for her warm body that’s standing between the kitchen and the living room. Her body is warm as you wrap your arms around her waist and lean into her chest. She holds you up as you collapse into her, possessive hands feeling the muscles and soft skin on your back. Her lips are warm and void of any kind of chapstick as they press into yours. She tastes only of coffee, but unlike Natasha, her cups always swirled with sugar and half-and-half. She tastes sweet. “Good girls don’t need to be told more than once, right?” She questions inches from your lips, her warm breath fanning across your face as she pulls away from the kiss. You can only manage a nod, your doe eyes blinking up at Wanda lazily. “Natty’ll come get you when she’s ready. Go show me you can be good.”
“Okay.” You whisper, dazed.
Wanda smiles, shaking her head with a soft laugh. “Okay.” She repeats.
-
Natasha comes inside half-an-hour later. You’ve forgotten that you were supposed to be waiting for her by the time she stumbles inside, red faced, braids frizzy, skin gleaming. Your fingers comb through the soft fur of your companion, eyes fixated on a television screen that plays a movie from the early two-thousands you haven’t seen in a couple of years. Your legs are curled up to your body, thighs damp with sweat that continues to build as you produce and subsequently trap more and more heat.
Natasha’s filthy. There’s dirt caked beneath her nails, mulch clinging to flyaways at the nape of her neck, and something suspiciously green around her left kneecap. Wanda’s almost twitching from the kitchen where she watches you fondly as she preps another jug of lemonade; this request per Kate Bishop, but she pauses to acknowledge the recognition that washes across Natasha’s features as she takes in the sight of you so anxiously perched on the couch.
They’ve told you a million times this party isn’t as big a deal as your brain has made it out to be, but it seems you’re failing to ground yourself in that comfort even still.
“Ona boretsya s etim. Izo vsekh sil. (She’s fighting it. Hard.)” Wanda informs. Natasha frowns as the lick of russian wets her ears and provokes goosebumps across her clammy skin abruptly. Her attention bounces to Wanda, an understanding heaviness settling in her almost-blue almost-green eyes.
They’ve gone down this road with you before. The road that is watching as past traumas haunt you even decades later. They’ve equally and individually learned how fear will sometimes freeze you like a baby deer in headlights — fawn and freeze; at the same time. They know you want to believe them about this party and its casualty, but your brain won’t let you without help.
“What’re we watching?” There’s a slight pant to Natasha’s smooth tone. Wanda catches it from across the house, but you’re indifferent to her exhaustion as your eyes stay fixated on the screen.
“I dunno.” Your shoulders shrug on their own. It’s a nervous habit you’ve said you acquired in middle school. You settle farther into the couch cushions with the unintentional movement, and subconsciously you bring your nail to your lips.
Natasha watches you fondly, wanting so desperately to stay here a while longer in the sunlight, but a bead of sweat falling down her spine dismantles the image she romanticizes. “You don’t know, huh?” Still she taunts you gently, a mischievous twinge to her thin voice. She needs water and a cold shower desperately, and by the flush in your cheeks she can tell you wouldn’t mind one either.
You don’t answer her immediately, eyes locked on the television screen, one hand brushing through the fur of your stuffed companion, and the other at your mouth, remnants of an unpainted nail chipping onto your tongue. Natasha waits patiently. Wanda puts the lemonade in the fridge and begins conquering the dishes that piled up in the sink. You never end up answering. Wanda lets Natasha be the one to tackle that.
Natasha clicks her tongue against her teeth as she watches you melt farther and farther into the couch cushions, your grip on your stuffed animal getting tighter and tighter as your focus narrows. “I asked you a question, Sunshine.”
“Mhmm.” You nod, humming sweetly around your thumb as your eyes blink. You don’t notice the bead of sweat that drips from your hairline. Natasha does.
“Three. Two—”
Your eyes widen, bottom lip quivering as your eyes snap to find Natasha’s figure in the room as the second number registers in your brain. “—No! Why! I wasn’t even doing anything!” Your voice is high, whiny. Wanda quirks an eyebrow at the sink but keeps her eyes on the dishes that sud beneath the water pressure.
Natasha shifts her stance, her hips swaying as she turns her head at you. “That’s the problem, solnechnyy svet. (Sunshine.) I asked you a question.”
“Oh.” You frown, biting harder on your thumb as your cheeks flush with defeat, your eyes glancing down at your tight hold on the monkey in your lap.
“Fingers out of your mouth.” Natasha chastises. She expects you to whine, but instead you comply with a pout she’ll allow, resuming your nervous fiddling with both hands now. “Turn your movie off and come take a shower with me. You feeling like you need a snack?” She’s hoping to soften the blow of redirection with the promise of a snack, and it works enough to get the television off but not your butt off the white cushions.
“Popsicles?” You question, eyes bright, so innocent as they blink spritely.
“I already told you to wait for once we get outside, right? It’s going to be a hot day today. You don’t want to have to eat Wanda’s yucky healthy ones later, do you?” Natasha makes a face of disgust that’s meant to appease your sadness, but her eyes snap back to Wanda across the kitchen when the sokovian can’t keep her commentary to herself any longer.
“Mommy also just told you no. Twice.” Her voice is sharp. The title rolls off her tongue heavily. Your core clenches, heat burns in your belly, your cheeks flush with something you can’t quite name or explain, just feel. And oh, do you feel it. Your eyes drop to your lap. Natasha’s silly expression settles into stone.
“Up the stairs. Now.” She demands strictly, leaving no room for argument in her tone as she points a finger toward the large wooden staircase. Your heart sinks into your belly at the harshness. “Bring Monkey.” She adds when you stand without the companion, fingers curled into nervous balls at your sides.
“Monkey.” You repeat softly, unconsciously. Your hand juts out to grab Monkey, shaky fingers curling around a plush tail instead. Wanda watches from the kitchen. Natasha watches from the stairs. They both shake their heads at your insistence to carry him by his tail. Natasha’s already sewn it back on twice.
“Hold him nicely.” She corrects. Clearly they’ve allowed you too much control. If you’re going to show them you can’t handle it anymore, she’s happy to take it back. There’s nothing she loves more than filling this role for you; with you. It heals something in her too to be the one that teaches emotional regulation. To be the one that's chosen when somebody else is dysregulated.
You hold his arm, specifically the left one, the one that looks like it’s going to be the next limb to fall off the decades old stuffed monkey. Natasha exhales, “Hold him nicely, or Daddy will hold him.”
Your brows furrow as you adjust your hold for the third time, squeezing Monkey’s brown body to your chest instead. “Thank you.” Natasha doesn’t emphasize her appreciation like she typically would, and she watches how your bottom lip pouts just the slightest bit as you stand beneath her fiery eyes. “Our bathroom. Let’s go, we’re running out of time if you want two braids.”
Natasha waits for you to step in front of her before she begins climbing the stairs, shooting Wanda one last look over her shoulder before her attention narrowed solely to you. She wants to laugh at how you walk aimlessly up the stairs, the muscles in your biceps bulging as you distract yourself with Monkey’s matting fur. You’ve either completely forgotten where she’s asked you to go, or you’re not paying attention to the surrounding areas because you stumble past the bedroom with a dazed indifference that makes Natasha question where you’d end up going if she let you continue on.
“Our bathroom is this way.” Natasha quips sharply, her voice echoing through the quiet upstairs hallways. A couple of doors are open — the guest bedroom, both bathrooms, and the laundry room — but the ones that are closed shoot her strict tone right back into your little ears.
You scamper back to her, cheeks red, eyes glassy and dazed. Monkey looks like he’s suffocating in your tight, anxious hold. Natasha’s heart breaks at the sight of you so worked up over something you’d once thought was going to be so much fun. You’re almost there. Almost drowning in the trust you’ve spent years establishing with them — with her. But it seems she still needs to play her hand harder. Still needs to remind you how deeply you’ve accepted the purity and genuinity of their intentions.
Her hands grab your face without warning. Your eyes widen, starry and glossy as you look up at her. Her thumbs holding your cheeks force your lips to pucker and separate the slightest bit. You look delicious between her touch. Your tongue sweeps against your bottom lip. The muscle is wet, pink. Natasha waits to speak for a moment. She lets silence sit between your bodies as she watches you try to keep yourself together miserably. Your shoulders relax and then tense. Your eyebrows furrow and then ease. You’re fighting yourself, not her. She takes a moment to ground herself in that quiet confirmation.
“Be a good girl.” It’s all she says. All she expects from you right now. It weighs a ton. Maybe two. It hits your lungs like a bullet. Air seems to seep from your lips like a punctured balloon. You deflate in Natasha’s hold.
Her thumb pulls at your bottom lip as she changes the way she holds your face. It’s strong still, but less controlling, more passionate, dominating. Your tongue juts out to taste the pad of her digit as she teases your mouth, pushing in just slightly enough to bring saliva down into the cracks in your lower lip. She pulls her touch away before skin makes contact with muscle. Her hands leave your face all together.
“Go put Monkey to bed. We don’t want Lucky getting him. Again” Natasha adds beneath her breath as you already begin to dip into the room, antsy to obey, to see where being good takes you now that she’s persuaded you with something you want. She knows how you work, how your body best responds; how to get what she wants from you without saying a word.
“Lucky only got him because Kate—” You gasp softly when Natasha pins you to the bed, walking up behind you with those stealthily quiet footsteps she knows you hate. You like hearing who's coming, when they’re coming. Monkey-Monkey falls out of your hands when her fingers squeeze your hips, guiding you to turn back toward her.
“Are you going to keep talking back or are you going to let me check the state of those bottoms you’ve got on?” Natasha tsks, unimpressed with your rebuttal that fell so quickly off your lips she thinks it was almost planned. You just can’t seem to help yourself today.
You swallow dryly, eyes glassing over more if that were in any way possible. Your lips part to answer but no words make it out. They close again loosely, eager eyes watching Natasha desperately, full of innocent anticipation.
“Tell me what you want.” Natasha demands evenly, not bending, not even so much as wavering beneath your doe-eyed stare. She never had. She never will. But it tempts her every time you bestow it upon her pent up form. ”What you’re going to let me do to you.”
“Let m- you— Let you check.” You stumble over your words, trying simply to reiterate them back to her before you realize the grammatical errors in that approach. Your cheeks flame as she laughs at you. It’s not a sweet laugh. Not a laugh that adores and cherishes you. It’s a laugh that demeans. A laugh that taunts. You wiggle on your naked feet. Thighs pressing together needily.
“Can’t even get the words out, can you? That embarrassed already?” She pauses for a moment if only to let you sit with the acknowledgement that she knows you’re embarrassed; with the confirmation that you should have something to be embarrassed about. “What do you need me to check, sunshine? What can’t Daddy trust you to take care of yourself?”
“My… my kitty.” Your cheeks flame brighter, hotter. Natasha’s eyes have a cruel sheen to them as her brown hair sticks to the drying sweat on her forehead, slowly beginning to peel away from her wrinkled skin that looks at you harshly, hotly, but not quite succeeding. Your voice cracks at the end of the admission, a shyness overcoming you that makes you quiet, softer. Natasha wants to take pity on you, her sunshine girl, but you know better than to fight it— them — like this.
“Say it like a big girl.” She insists, chin raising, veins and esophagus bobbing with the motion. Her clavicle pops, the muscles in her biceps flex. “Daddy wants to hear you say it like a big girl.”
“My pussy.” You whisper, eyes casting downward. Wanda needs to vacuum the rug. It’s losing its lines and stiffness. You know she’s been thinking about throwing it out anyways. It’s more upkeep than payoff anymore, she says.
“Put it together now.” Natasha’s unrelenting. Your thighs squeeze together harder, your cheeks burn hotter.
“I-I’m gonna let you touch my-my pussy.” You kick at the floor sheepishly, feeling small beneath her strong gaze, so small. She’s not all that tall. Wanda’s taller. But she’s big, defined, sure of herself.
Wanda shaved your pussy preemptively last night, and while bearing a bald cunt isn’t abnormal to you, it’s been a while since you’ve been so smooth you can feel every trickle of arousal as it leaves your clenching, pulsing, aching, empty hole. Your bottoms are soiled.
“Who am I?” Natasha croons, eyes evil. You whine, wiggling in your place. You shake your head, pleading with her to take mercy on you. She won’t. “Who am I, sunshine? What’s my name?”
“Daddy.” You answer, eyes finally looking up to meet hers again.
“Good girl.” Natasha concedes, giving you the briefest glimpse of genuine adoration as her eyes soften just the slightest and her posture becomes less tense; dominating. “On your back, knees to your chest.”
Goosebumps roll up your spine, you shiver with anticipation. It’s been a while since she’s pulled this card. Reminded you of your place so thickly.
The bedding is expensive, and it feels as such beneath your body as you ease your back into the center of the bed. Your bones shake as you reach for your knees, pulling them up to your chest with a flush to your cheeks and your bottom lip bitten in utter embarrassment. This position never gets any less humiliating. Her eyes on you like this never get any less unnerving. Your shorts that had been giving Wanda a show all morning do the same now, but gravity aids this time, and the draft that comes in from the central air provokes goosebumps across the innards of your thighs.
You keep your thighs together initially, but Natasha doesn’t let you seek comfort where it's not been permitted for long. She pries your thighs apart with a cruelness that weakens you, another pathetic whine slipping off of your lips and tongue as you writhe on the bed, entirely untouched aside from her fingertips dancing around your kneecaps.
“Don’t hide yourself from me.” She chastises, disapprovement clear in her eyes. “Little girls who don’t listen to their Daddy’s or their Mommy’s do not get to hide how slutty and misbehaved their little pussys are.” Her hand slaps down onto your cunt, your aching, quivering pussy before you can even register she’s let her attention fall away from your knees that bare the faintest scars from childhood.
Your hands jump to cover your core despite the layers of clothing that dampen the hit. Natasha tsks, grabbing your wrists and pinning them above your head, hovering over your quivering frame with a quiet stillness that speaks enough before words catch up to her.
“Try that again and Daddy’ll tell everyone when they get here that you’re finishing up a work call and we’ll see how long it takes you to remember you don’t touch what's mine unless I give you permission. I think we could get away with it for what? Thirty? Forty minutes?” Natasha drones on cynically, sadistically. “And the party doesn’t start for another hour. So that’s what? Over an hour and a half with your little pussy filled with Mommy’s red rabbit and your hands bound to the headboard? Wanna try that instead of what Daddy’s planning on doing to you now?”
Your head shakes, tears welling up in your eyes as your belly does a flip, so impossibly tight you can’t help but squirm beneath her, trying so hard to find friction for your aching clit.
“Words.” She’s relentless.
“No.” You stamper to respond, a single tear leaking out from your left eye as you shake your head in time with the trembling of your bones beneath Natasha’s hot grip. “No please.” It’s a desperate beg, a beg that quivers your voice and finally breaks Natasha’s reserve the slightest bit.
“I didn’t think so.” She tuts, standing up again to peer down at you. You look so beautiful like this, spread out on your back, your pussy and asshole only hidden by thin layers she’s about to strip. “Lift your hips.” She taps your hipbone gently, guiding you out of the shorts you’d slipped on sleepily that morning with Wanda. It’s no loss to you to be losing them, but you feel the slightest wave of upset crash over you as Natasha hums at the sight of your pussy beneath its bathing suit for the day, knowing you’re about to lose this too.
“If I didn’t know any better I’d think you had an accident, malen'koye solntse. (Little sun.)” She tsks, trailing a finger over the center of your bathing suit bottoms. She doesn’t apply any pressure at all, just lets her finger slide against the dampness of your bathing suit that looks like it's already taken a dip in the pool.
If you weren’t already embarrassed that would’ve done you all the way in. You whine pathetically, thighs trembling to close around her hand but she stops you with her body that she angles over top of you dominatingly — challengingly.
“Is that what this is, sunshine? Did you have an accident? Did Mommy not ask if you needed to go potty before she started cutting up fruit for Yelena’s salad?” Natasha’s faux sympathy fills you with something deliciously sweet and unbearable. You wiggle on the bed, eyes desperate, pleading. Your belly is so warm it feels like you’re going to explode. The hands that she’d pinned above your head race to cover your eyes, pathetic whines falling into the air. “Use your words.”
“I didn’t.” You whine, unable to help yourself, unable to stop it as you writhe on the bed, still untouched, only further achy and sore now. The slap still rings in your mind, and thus, your pussy still burns with the memory
“You didn’t what?”
Your little leg kicks petulantly, tears so pathetically close to falling brimming in your waterline as your breath hitches, your red cheeks filling with air the same way they had toward Wanda in the kitchen. Oh you need this, bad. “I didn’t have an accident!” You bellow, sounding so close to sobs Natasha wants to concede, but she doesn’t. She won’t.
“I don’t know who you think you’re raising your voice at, little girl, but it’s not going to be me.” She says instead of scooping you up into her arms and soothing the ache in your pussy that’s causing half of this fussiness from you. She’s not about to give in. You’d only be brattier if she gave in. You don’t want her to give in. You love every second of this. “Get up. Go to the bathroom. We don’t have much time anymore because someone’s wanted to make this difficult.”
Your belly sinks even further. Natasha meant for it to. She’s got twenty more minutes to get you down as deep as she can safely attain, and the rest is on you to choose what gets maintained, or how far you end up floating upward by the start of the party. She’s going to make the most of it while she can have you anyway she pleases. It’s not just your vulnerability on the line with this. It’s hers, it’s Wanda's.
“You come.” You croak, your lips pulling downward into the saddest pout Natasha’s ever seen
Her heart softens just a little, her lips pulling upward. “I’m coming. But we both need new bathing suits. Daddy’s not gonna let you walk around in those sticky bottoms.” She reassures, seeing the worry that comes from something deeper than just getting laid beneath your eyes that almost look through her from across the room. Your hands twitch at your sides. Your brain is working slow, hardly at all, the actions come before the sentences do. Natasha’s not needed the latter for a while though. “I know you wanted to wear that one, sunny.” She coos softly, knowing that yet another change and element of lost control wouldn’t be helpful, but genuinely trying to look out for you. Wanda had just shaved you clean, staying in wet fabric all day could only result in what Natasha would call diaper rash. “But, that leaky pussy of yours had other plans. So daddy’s going to pick out the red one that Mommy likes so much, and it’s going to be fine. Just a little hiccup. Blame your pussy.”
“I don’t want to blame my pussy.”
Natasha took it too far. She knew she did the minute she started teasing you lightly, humorously. Your brain is working overtime to catch up on the jokes, the changes, the lightness in the air. You’re so spaced out but coming to the light at the same time, and that’s the opposite of what she wants right now; what you need right now.
“If we’re going to start getting mouthy again, I can try my best to match your pussy to your suit. Do you want to start the part with a red, puffy, spanked pussy, sunshine?” Natasha snaps suddenly and she wishes she had a camera to capture how your whole body flinches with delight at her tone, looking like it's been sparked by a firework nobody knew had been set.
“No, Daddy.” You whisper, cunt clenching around nothing, more arousal leaking out, trailing between your pussy lips that glisten with what's already formed and only been made worse by pressing fingers.
“Naked by the time I get in there. Otherwise we’ll just have to test that theory anyway.” Natasha wants to see how you react, but she knows it’ll drive you crazy if she pretends not to care, so instead, she spins on her heels, finally taking off to look for the bathing suit she intends to wear, and the one she intends to dress you in. It’s a shame. The one you liked had been cute, but she’s not all that perturbed about the arrangements that led to this wardrobe change.
It’s cold in the bathroom, but your perception of time and fine motor skills are so out of whack at the moment that it takes you as long to strip as it does for Natasha to find the bathing suits she wants. Your ass is fully exposed when she comes in, your body bent in half as you carefully step out of the drawstring bottoms she’d preferred if you'd of pulled off that way. She doesn’t say anything about it, just takes in the sight of your ass presented so innocently, so unknowingly. Your pussy drips too. All the way down your thighs. You don’t realize that there’s a string of arousal leaking from your pulsing hole, too concerned about staying upright on your feet as you undress, but Natasha focuses on how it gets lower and lower to the floor, staying strong, unbreaking.
Her hand catches the middle of your back before you can stand up. You gasp, surprised by her presence again. Her hands are warm, soothing, dominating.
“Arch your back for me a little bit, sunshine.” She doesn’t tell you what she’s doing, doesn’t tell you that your pussy is so wet, there’s a string of wetness dripping from between the gap in your thighs. If she does, she knows your body will ruin it without meaning to. She knows the second she comments about how filthy her little girl's pussy is, you're going to flinch, tense, jerk, and your pretty thighs are going to smother that creamy string of arousal before she can see its limits. You don’t need to know. It may be your body, but it is her pussy. “Just like that, oh fuck, good girl. Good fucking good.” She moans when your skin curves away from her hand before her pressure follows you down, your ass pushes upward, your pussy flipping more toward the light, catching a draft that the simple motion of your body creates.
Natasha moans when it continues, growing longer and thinner as it leaks from your hole. Your body acts like nobody has touched you, like Wanda’s strap wasn’t buried to the hilt in your core last night. It marvels Natasha how you still act like it's the first time every time they touch you.
You whine when she continues to remain silent, just watching, not telling you anything nor allowing you to move. She shushes you, taking her hands and spreading the globes of your ass apart. It’s a subtle flex of ownership, established control. Your hole clenches, and this time, Natasha sees its tightness in all its glory, translucent arousal leaking from you mixed with that creamy delightfulness she’s watching bounce between your shaking thighs.
“Stay still.” She warns, unimpressed by the growing strength of your quivering. One wrong knock of your knees and her show is over prematurely. She spreads your ass farther, puckered hole opening just the slightest bit, round globes becoming white beneath the press of her fingers into your skin, like they’re searching for muscle, or maybe bone. She hums when it finally falls, landing on the floor with the soft splat that catches your attention and makes your cheeks burn brighter. Natasha smirks, satisfied with herself. “You’re so wet, sunshine.” She teases, letting go of your ass to dip her fingers into your pussy instead, scissoring them open just once before she curls them deep, keeping them scooped as she pulls out, leaving you with only a taste of what you could’ve had.
Natasha stands in front of you, sunlight cascading upon her and the slick that coats her fingers as she holds them up to the light, scissoring them open as she watches them fondly, hungrily.
“Such a messy girl.” She chastises, rubbing her fingers together. She leans forward finally, letting your body go, and reaches for the faucet, letting the water start running as she undresses carelessly, not sparing any careful consideration before spreading her cum covered fingers all over her shirt.
Your eyes watch as they join yours in a pile on the floor, but your attention is quickly brought back to Natasha as she guides you into the tub before the water fully warms. You whine, shivering as you step closer to her instinctively, shuddering as the lukewarm bursts paint you frigid. She giggles softly, not because she’d meant to startle you, but because she forgets not everyone grew up without access to hot water all the time. She still forgets it's okay to abuse that privilege now that she has it.
“Sorry, sweet girl. It’ll warm up soon. Let Daddy take your hair down while we wait, hm. Turn around for me.” Natasha coaxes you to face the wall, her damp hands easing the elastic out of your hair. It falls heavily, and she wastes no second to bury her fingers into your scalp, massaging away the tension that’d formed since early morning.
She eases you into washing your hair, and then conditioning it, lathering it thick with a hair mask she swears will keep it nice even with the salt water exposure. You don’t really pay attention much, taken away by the feeling of her fingers pulling and tugging at your hair, sometimes harder than they necessarily need to.
“Doing such a good job for me, angel. Such a good job, sunshine. Daddy’s just gonna wash your body now, okay? Stay facing the wall, don’t want any soap to get into your eyes.” Manipulating you into doing what she wants is so easy, especially when you’re like this. You don’t question that she’s already washed the shampoo out of your hair and the highest she’ll drag the wash cloth is your shoulders, just stay facing the wall as she reaches beside your head for the soap Wanda bought that smells like coconut and raspberries.
You gasp when you realize it's not a wash cloth she’s lathering your body with but the palm of her hand, her own body scrubbed to shit with her red loofa that hands besides Wanda’s black, though yours doesn’t receive the same treatment. Even though there's a yellow one of the same variety hanging beside theres, even though there’s a washcloth draped over the shower bar.
She pinches your nipples with a teasing disinterest, and your chest rises to meet her touch until she pulls away too soon. Too dreadfully soon. She leaves your nipples, now pebbled and aching, to smooth her touch beneath your breasts and down the valley of your tummy. Your breath hitches when her hand dips between your legs, massaging your wetness with explicit softness that turns your belly and warms your cheeks — both sets; every part of your body is alight with sparking light as Natasha pries your lips apart and massages her soapy hands into your core. She runs them down your thighs like nothing happens, and then back up to your cunt that weeps so pitifully. She tsks quietly, allowing the water the privilege of washing the soap and your arousal off of her hands and digits before she urges for your thighs to be spread wider again.
Her fingers are almost hot as they pinch and roll your clit with delicate interest. Your hips twitch when the rough palm of her hand catches it as she sinks the tip of her pointer finger into your cunt, twirling it around before pulling it out and repeating the process. “Shh, stay still baby. Stay still. Daddy’s gotta clean you up before we can get you ready for the pool.”
Your mind is too fuzzy to comprehend what she could mean by that, or what she could intend to be doing with her fingers between your legs that are only creating more wetness, but before you can ask, or even begin to formulate your own wild fantasies, Natasha walks you into the corner until your tits meet the cold tile, your hands bracing against the wall in shock as she wrestles the showerhead between your thighs she’d directed you to spread just moments ago. That makes sense now. It all makes sense now. As much as it can anyways.
Your hips thrash wildly the second she places the showerhead onto your clit, the jet set stream like a bullet shooting through you at full force with no mercy. Her chest keeps you still for the most part, her breasts, so full yet perfectly round on her chest, small enough to look flat beneath her button ups when she wears those bras from Nike, but plump enough for you to feel every raised bump and spec on her similarly puckered areolas that are pressing into your spin demandingly.
“Someone’s feeling jumpy, huh?” Natasha teases, directing the stream of water to your hole for only a moment, but enough of a moment to have you desperately pulling at her grip, arching away from her boobs as you whine and whimper at the sensations she’s causing while actively clearing away any traces of arousal — for now. “Oh, are you close, sunshine? Is Daddy getting you all nice and clean turning you on? Naughty girl. So naughty getting off to this. It feels good doesn’t it? Oh I know, sweet thing. I know it does. That little head doesn’t need to think about anything, it just needs to feel what Daddy’s doing. There you go, there you go.” Natasha drops her head into the crook of your neck, desperately sucking a decent sized hickey into your skin in a place that no bathing suit or photo angle would cover unless it was miraculously taken from the complete opposite angel in the dark.
“N-No! No p-please!” Your voice is quiet and dismayed as your hips cant to chase the showerhead she pulls away at the very last moment before an orgasm tears through your body. You were quivering before, you’re trembling now. The lick of sadistic enjoyment that filters through Natasha as she holds your denied body between her hands and smirks against the soft skin of your damp and sweet smelling neck.
“I told you, sunshine. We were just cleaning you up before the party starts. Did you forget?” Natasha mocks pitilessly, nipping your neck before she pulls away, turning the shower off too soon. “Silly girl.”
It gets cold immediately, like a blanket being torn from your body in the middle of a fall morning. You shiver, immediately turning on your heels and stammering to step closer to her again — magnetized to her warmth in every sense that she delivers it upon you, even in denial.
“Only good girls get to cum, sunshine, and you haven’t listened to Daddy one bit this morning. Let’s see if we can turn that around this afternoon, hm? See if that pussy deserves a reward or if it’s gonna be left all achy and empty until tomorrow.” There’s a finality in Natasha’s tone that brings the tears back to your eyes, but they blend into the droplets of water that drip down your face from your hair as she helps you out of the bathtub, wrapping a towel around your still trembling body. “So reactive.” Natasha hums when she brushes over your nipples as she tucks the corner of the towel in between your breasts, changing her approach to something soft, wistful as she handles you. She has you where she wants you now, there’s no reason to overplay her hand when you’re so willfully pliant.
“Braids. Two.” You remind Natasha dazily, blinking at her slowly, sweetly. The demand you utter isn’t meant to be harsh, controlling. You’re just thinking in blocks, choppy thoughts appearing in blurbs that Natasha finds quite charming.
You’ve always been quiet. Since the day you started with her, to this very moment, the silence that passes between you two isn’t unfamiliar, but it holds a certain warmth to it that Natasha wants to frame and put on the bedroom wall every time she feels it.
She laughs softly, shaking her head as she reaches for your pile of clothes on the floor. “I know you want braids, sunshine. I’m getting to that, we’ve gotta get you dressed first.”
“Dressed first.” You repeat back, a soft parrot between Natasha’s fingertips as she dresses you innocently, her fingertips only scraping upwards against your skin as often as necessary. You welcome it fondly, sinking into her warmth, her presence, her promise to stay. Ever so slowly, excitement toward this party begins to bubble in your belly again alongside the arousal Natasha’s amplified since dragging you upstairs, and she can tell as her fingers fix the strap of your bathing suit top that's twisted over itself.
“Do you want to wear your shorts now, or are you going to go hop in the pool the second I let you go?” Natasha questions with an amused smirk, wet brown hair dripping down her shoulders and between her freckled back bones.
“It’s ready?” You question with shy anticipation, giving Natasha enough of an answer to know wrangling you into a pair of shorts isn’t worth her breath right now.
Either way, she smiles at you fondly, nodding her head in quiet confirmation. “Everything’s ready. I’ve got the campfire all set up, and the floats are inflated and in the pool, and all your favorite drinks are in the cooler by Fanny’s water bowl.” Natasha kisses your head before she breaks away, stepping farther back than she’s been for a while. You whine at the loss of warmth radiating off of her skin and onto yours, but she shushes you with fond exasperation, rolling her eyes as she steps into a pair of black swim trumps and a white sports bra looking top. It’s not her most festive attire, but you know that her, amongst a handful of the guests attending, are majorly rioting against the American government. Your festivities only reside in the color palette and aesthetic, but you know this is something personal for Natasha; something like a wound that’s never healed.
“No shorts.” You decide with finality as she fixes the last of her hair that was caught beneath the band of the bathing suit top. Natasha’s smirk seems to broaden if possible, her eyes filled with a lightness you hadn’t seen so unearthed across her features in a while.
She chortles shortly, shaking her head. “I figured that, sunny.” She assures, making you blush in embarrassment she cherishes to witness. “Come stand in front of the sink. If you’re going to beat Yelena into the pool, then we only have a couple of minutes.” Natasha redirects and you allow her to, letting your body be guided toward the countertop that holds every hair utensil you could think of. Knowing Natasha, the woman who likes you in the slickest braid known to man, she’s going to use every instrument in the room until she’s satisfied. It’s a miracle nobody beneath the roof is balding yet. Her fingers are beautiful things, but they’re also dangerous weapons.
You’re not paying attention to how she parts and pulls and tugs at your hair, only whining when something is too harsh or you’re just missing the sound of her voice coaxing you through the momentary, and entirely worthwhile, pain. You never regret the end result — or the fact that Wanda will forgo making you shower and restyle your hair before bedtime when they’re in.
“All done.” Natasha smiles proudly after a few moments, tapping your hip as she reaches behind her to begin her own hair in a hurry, not too fussed about making her own style perfect, just manageable for the activities at hand.
“Said two.” You frown when your eyes focus on your reflection in the mirror and catch sight of the singular french braid that runs down the center of your head. This is not what you asked for; not what you wanted. Natasha knows you only let her braid your hair like this before bed. She knows that for some reason, you like two braids better. You know that she knows. She knows that you know that she knows.
That doesn’t change the fact that your hair is still only braided in one slicked and tight french braid, secured by a little red elastic she’d laid out on the counter between spraying your hair with a leave-in conditioner and pulling the first sections taut.
Natasha chuckles as if something is funny, dropping her hands from her hair once she’s satisfied with the bun tied up toward the middle of her head. “And Daddy said no popsicles. Seems like we both forgot to listen, and we’ll both live through the disappointment.”
“I wanted two.” Your shoulders drop in dejection, eyes staring at your reflection in the still somewhat steamy mirror.
“And I wanted you to make a good choice.” Natasha isn’t settling, but she meant what she said about not needing to overplay her hand anymore, so she nods toward the door with an ever so gradually lightening expression. Her eyes flicker to the small, gold analog clock Wanda insisted on putting in the corner at the end of the countertop that runs across the side of this wall. Fifteen minutes or less until Yelena barges through the back gate with Fanny on a leash, Kate and Lucky tumbling in behind her flush faced and disheveled. You’re running out of time if you really have a goal of being the first in the pool. She takes one more moment to look at you though; really look. Your cheeks are pink from the heat of the shower, your eyes are wide, doe-like and glassy as they peer back at her with a sort of cluelessness behind them. Your shoulders look gentle, your skin soft as evaporating water allows them to glisten naturally. You look so little. So soft. “Go tell Wands you’re getting in the pool.”
Your eyes brighten at the reminder of pool time, and you don’t waste a second scrambling out of the bathroom with a bounce. Natasha watches you for a moment, shaking her head as she watches your eyes flicker between Monkey and the door as you slow down just slightly in your descent to Wanda who's still in the kitchen. You can hear her doing something now that you’re out of the bathroom.
“Uh.” Natasha scolds with a glimmer in her eyes, no real malice in her tone. “Leave Monkey-Monkey. He’ll be here waiting for you when you come back.”
“Okay.” You whisper softly, continuing down to Wanda. It takes you until the third step to forget about your upset, Natasha can tell as she listens to the growing prance in your footsteps as you regain your speed, your little voice calling out to Wanda before you round the corner of the kitchen.
“Wands, I’m all ready for the pool!”
Your feet carry you across the floorboards quickly, still naked, but padding audibly against the hardwood that Wanda had meticulously mopped three days ago while Natasha dusted every shutter and baseboard in the house. You can’t remember what they’d had you doing, maybe the dishes or folding the laundry, but either way, the floor feels squeaky clean and polished beneath your feet.
Wanda’s putting away the last of the dishes in the kitchen, all the food spread out between the kitchen island and the dining room table as you peer around the corner as you stalk closer to her body. She takes up so much room, so much space, her presence is so large, but she’s really not all that big. She’s still taller than you, more commanding than you.
“We’re in a better mood.” Wanda notes, and though you’re dazed, utterly delicate in front of her, you catch the way her eyes rake up your body, assuring every curve and inch of exposed skin gets the heat of her stare cast upon it at least once. That burning sensation spreads through your clit and belly again, your cheeks hot as you look down at your painted toes, feeling shy; so shy. “Natty changed you too, hm? What happened there?”
Natasha might’ve conceded about overplaying her card, but Wanda had barely had a chance to sink her teeth into you and she wasn’t feeling so kind. You knew better than to ignore what she tells you and expects from you.
Your cheeks blush and your feet kick at the floor again, desperately hoping for it to swallow you whole and save you from this encounter. Wanda wants the full truth. If she asks Natasha later and she finds out you held something back, you’re only in for more.
“Was too wet.” You admit sheepishly, your voice quiet. “U-Um, looked like I had an accident.”
Wanda hums, satisfied with your answer though she knows you could’ve been more descriptive. She knows a hell of a lot more than that happened upstairs. She lets it go for now. If only because the choppy manner of your sentences tells her Natasha’s already completely dismantled every panic setting in your little brain, and with it, the right headspace for making you verbally humiliate yourself descriptively.
“You looked like you had an accident, huh?” Wanda tsks, shaking her head as she turns her chin to glance at the counter, content to find the sunscreen she’d brought down from the bathroom still in its place from last night. “Oh, sunshine, do I have to start taking you to go potty myself. Is my little girl too lost in that pretty head to do it herself?” She teases smugly, knowing that her condescension is only further smothering you into the headspace Natasha’s created in private.
“I didn’t!” You argue weakly, desperate for her to believe you, for somebody to believe you, because you’re not entirely convinced that Natasha does. “Didn’t have an accident! Mo-Wands I didn’t!”
“You didn’t, what? Tell me sunshine, what didn’t you do.” Wanda backs you into a corner before you even realize you’re caged in, and if your cheeks weren’t already positively glowing, Wanda knows they’d have turned this shade a pink in a moment now that you’ve been tasked with the obligation of clarifying yourself to her; she’s sure Natasha’s made you say it too. She’s certain if she strapped you to an MRI machine, they’d find a million little butterflies all fluttering wildly inside your belly and bones.
“Ididn’thaveanaccident.” You grumble in one breath, eyebrows innocently furrowed in dismay as you sink your gaze to the floor, still wishing for it to swallow you whole, still absolutely buzzing from every nerve within your body.
“Slower. And louder. You know better than that.” Wanda chastises with a look of disbelief on her face, your belly sinks to your knees, your legs knock together as you tremble beneath her domineering glare. She’s entirely unimpressed with you this morning. You may have wormed your way back into Natasha’s good graces, but you’re only digging a deeper hole with her. It’s truly a wonder how she hasn’t lost all self control and bent you over the counter until your ass matched the swimsuit Natasha picked out tediously. “If I have to repeat myself you will tell Maria explicitly how you’ve disobeyed both your Mommy and your Daddy in the four hours that your pretty eyes have been open. Do you need to be reminded how much Masha likes to see you cry? Have you forgotten how sweet she sounds as she convinces Mommy to spank that little cunt harder just one more time.” She’s playing mean now. If Natasha were in the room to see how she steps closer to you, impeding on your personal space with a cruelness that would shake a seasoned battle warrior, she’s drag Wanda away by her hand, telling her she’s playing a dangerous game, that this wasn’t supposed to become an all day scene, but Wanda likes danger. And she likes reminding Natasha that they’ve agreed to let her take the reins every so often and today, she’s decided it's everyone at her mercy.
“N-No!” The way your body reacts before your brain is so pleasing to see. Wanda preens as she watches you break, the one final straw snapping like it's been dry rotted for a decade coming undone completely as you stamp your feet into the ground, body bouncing with so much pent up dismay the vibrations tickle your clit. You sob gutterally, tears sinking down your cheeks as the last of your reserve crumbles, your ability to hide even the slightest reaction from them entirely gone now; probably not to come back until at least the early hours of the morning.
Good, Wanda thinks, still just watching you have your meltdown, your lips wet with saliva as you blubber nonsensically. There’s no stopping your meltdown without intervention at this point, but she’s content to let you get out at least a couple of the tears she knows you’ve been fighting all morning. You need this. She knows that you need this. The old saying from her childhood sneaks up on her like a paranormal chill. ‘This hurts me more than it hurts you’. It hadn’t been true back then, she’s not so sure its really true now, she knows that this crying helps, heals, highlights all the trust that’s been shared and built, but there’s a twinge deep in her heart that knows just how much trauma and pain it’s taken to get you to this point of emotional regulation and protection.
“So tell me again. Nicely.” She finally decides to take pity on you when snot bubbles from your nose. You’re quick to use the back of your hand to wipe it away, a whine that’s fully embarrassed tumbling from your lips as you visibly try to sink into the floor. It’s officially surpassed fun and healing for both parties. She knows that you need softness now. That her hand has been played as hard as it needed to be.
“I-I didn’t have an acc— Mommy I didn’t have an accident!” You sob, your hands coming up to cover your face as you can’t handle the heat of her eyes on you. They’re so soft now, so comforting, so patient. You’re running out of time to get in the pool, but Wanda’s willing to yell at Yelena to wait if it really comes down to it now. You’ve been good enough. She’ll see to it that you get a reward. At least partially.
“I know, moya milaya, luchezarnaya devochka. (My sweet sunshine girl.) I know.” Wanda pries your hands away from your face gently, the pads of her thumbs that are soft from the pounds of fruit juice she’s squished between her digits wipe away your tears tenderly before her lips kiss your slightly damp cheeks. “Enough of the tears. That’s enough, sweetheart.” She coaxes gently, smiling warmly at you when your eyes blink drearily, your lashes heavy and wet. “Did Natty put sunscreen on you?” She tries to pull you back up a little bit, if only because she knows neither you or Natasha would appreciate outing your mutual Daddy kink so vulnerably. Wanda’s pretty sure everyone knows about her Mommy kinky to some extent, but you and Natasha, you keep things close to your heart in ways she both adores and pities. She wishes the both of you could just love yourselves as openly and encouragingly as she’s learned to love herself.
“No.” You mumble, trying to shake your head that’s still being held between her hands. Wanda smiles sweetly at you, her green eyes sparkling.
Wanda rolls her eyes, smile gleaming. “Of course she didn’t. Natty’s silly.” Wanda’s proud of herself the second she recognizes the soft giggle that fills her ears at the reprimand of your mutual partner. If one thing always works with you, its using Natasha as the brunt of the joke, if only because outside of this relationship, this opportunity to be wrong and messy and stupid, she’d picture perfect. “We’ll get you all lathered up and then I’ll stop keeping you from the pool, alright, sunshine?”
“Yours.” You demand weakly, your little voice sounding oh so croaky as you bring a fist up to rub at your eyes. With or without the sunlight that beams down brightly on the backyard, unhidden by clouds that obidently roll around it, you’re going to crash tonight. Wanda can’t remember the last time you let yourself feel and express so freely; that always tends to wear you out. She remembers what it was like to first start feeling and getting in touch with her emotions. She knows how much of a weight it is to constantly be feeling and processing things you haven’t before. Selfishly, empathetically, she can’t wait for the cuddles that are to come when the house finally clears out.
“I know you want mine, sweet thing.” Wanda laughs, reaching for the sunbum lotion she’d brought down from the bathroom last night. “Always want mine, huh? My body wash, my shampoo, my suntan lotion. You smell like a little version of me!” She teases fondly, opening the cap and squirting a generous amount into her palms. She took her rings off when she started cutting up the fruit, and you’re thankful for thier absence now as she drags her hands down your arms adn across your chest, making a point to almost finger the dips in your clavicle as she works the white lotion clear into your expose skin.
You giggle when she dips her fingertips beneath the hem of the bathing suit top, coating just the slightest bit more of your boobs before she asks you to turn around, lathering your back and your neck and the backs of your legs with meticulous pressure and gentleness combined.
“Does that tickle?” Wanda hums fondly as she finishes rubbing in the last of the sunscreen around your ankles, not bothering with your feet now if only because she plans to spray you down every two hours with the spray version she has. “We’re almost done, sweet girl. Just let me get the front of your legs.”
You don’t question why she saved the front of your legs for last, you should, but you don’t, mindlessly turning around in her grip again, your eyes fixated on the pool that drifts and ripples with the warm breeze that travels in through the open doors and windows.
You hum when her thumbs press into the muscles of your upper thighs, her fingers really working the lotion in harder than she had been now. She travels high and then low, but your attention is particularly peaked when she reaches the crevices of your thighs, her slickened palms and fingertips continuing to explore your body more than protect it with sunscreen now.
You squeak when her fingertips breach the sides of your bottoms, her fingers that are barely covered in anything anymore brushed against your lips and then your clit before they dare to dip inside, finding a puddle of wetness that leaks against this swimsuit now too right beneath your pulsating hole. She laughs cynically, plunging a finger inside with interest, working it into an arch and then straightening it out again.
“Oh.” You gasp, not expecting the intrusion or permissive pleasure you’re receiving. Wanda smirks, setting another hand on your hip.
“Stay still, baby. I’m just making sure everywhere is nice and covered.” She tells you deceitfully. She pulls her finger out and away too soon, and your face flushes when she adds more sunscreen to her dirtied hand, rubbing that into your stomach before she hums, satisfied with herself. “Natty didn’t let you cum, did she?” Wanda asks eventually, not even daring to bring up how she’d just rubbed your arousal into your belly with the remnants of her sunscreen and your shower water.
You shake your head, words hard, your eyes reflecting your silence as they glimmer and gleam.
“I can tell. That little pussy was just clenching on my fingers so tight. And it’s still making such a mess. Better go get in the pool before Natty wants to check for herself again. I don’t think you want to have her pick out another bathing suit when Yelena and Kate are going to be here any minute.” Wanda teasingly redirects, but you’re too oblivious to realize she’d very pointedly just taken your mind off of the second edge of the day.
“Bye-bye.” You blink at her before you turn, both clumsily and frantically scrambling out of the door. Wanda watches you, almost certain you’re going to bust your ass before you make it into the heated pool, but by some miracle you avoid tripping over your own two feet or the chairs Natasha’s fixed out with towels. She watches you dive in with a splash, grateful that your attitudes already seemed to improved already. She wants this to be a good day. She knows that its going to be.
-
Wanda’s been watching you for a while now. The sun has tarnished your skin already, the salt water has tugged pieces of your braid free, but your eyes gleam with a lightness she hasn’t seen so exposed in a while. Your earlier frustration and arousal has been clearly forgotten, your little mind too occupied with the game of chicken going on between you, Kate, Yelena, and Sharon. Nobody’s really sure who invited Sharon, it definitely wasn’t Natasha or herself, but she hasn’t perturbed the vibe, so nobody’s asked her to leave.
Your cheeks are pink now from a delicate burn thats going to burn and tighten your skin within the next handful of hours. You’ve got a dark crisp across the bridge of your nose from where the suns hit you most, a telltale sign of the laughter you’ve let bubble from your chest as Yelena throws countless quips at Natasha from the water. She hasn’t left the pool since she arrived, demanding drinks and plates of food from the sloshing waters that she’s crawled so deep into they lick at her collarbones.
It seems Natasha’s been bringing you drinks as well each time she’s been beckoned over by her excitable little sister finally getting the chance to live out a little bit of her childhood dream if the empty cans of tequila seltzers are any indication. Natasha’s shared a considerable amount about Yelena’s childhood with the both of you, but Wanda especially. They both still have their secrets, neither you nor Wanda confidently know the majority of their most tragic events, but Wanda knows how desperately Yelena had wanted a pool as a child. Wanda knows how many times Yelena had been waterboarded by a drunken Alexei when she’d hopefully asked, never quite getting the hint that the no wasn’t due to money, but willingness.
Wanda almost feels bad pulling you away from the game thats happening, but unlike everyone else in the pool, they’ve all gotten out to periodically hide from the sun, or in Yelena’s case, at the very least sprayed the top half of their bodies. Wanda knows you won’t want everyone seeing her lather you up, but she’s not quite willing to let you do it by yourself yet, even if you’ve floated up from the very bottom of a soft headspace the slightest bit since fleeing the kitchen and her controlling grip.
“You gonna bring her in?” Natasha stalks up beside Wanda quietly, but there’s a stagger to her steps that give hints of how much she’s had to drink already, or how little she’s had to eat. Wanda can only have her eye on so many people at once, and you take precedence over your girlfriend who wouldn’t let anything happen to her even shitfaced. Natasha has the skills to defend herself. Wanda fears every day that somebodys going to kidnap you.
Wanda hums, glancing down at the beer in Natasha’s hand. “She’s a lobster.” She comments, slightly amused, slightly horrified. It hadn’t been this bright of a day in a while. She takes the long neck bottle from Natasha’s loose grip, gulping down a mouthful that she realizes is lukewarm too late. “That’s fucking putrid.” Wanda’s nose wrinkles, and she shoves it back into Natasha’s grip with disgust. “It’s piss warm, Natalia.”
“Yeah well, I haven’t really had time to drink it between watching her boobs bounce every time she falls into the water and being Yelena’s little bitch. I’m one beer away from making her get her own damn drinks.” Natasha takes a gulp of the beer if only to further defend her frustration and Wanda rolls her eyes, not sure why the brunette questions where your attitude is coming from when this is how she acts. “I think she’s just hot. You know how she gets now that she’s upped her meds.” Natasha reasons, watching you fondly for a moment as Kate pushes you back into the water off of Yelena’s shoulders.
You know Sharon’s not allowed to pick you up. She’s been respecting that rule so far, maybe because both Kate and Yelena have claimed you as quick as the waves of the pool let you find your footing after a spill.
“She’s going to be pissed when I tell her she can’t take the trazadone tonight.” Natasha comments out of second thought, thinking about the pill bottle you’d rhinestoned blue just a few months back.
Wanda scoffs, “You should’ve thought about that before you started feeding her, what even are those, Sun Crusiers or High Noons?” She squints her eyes, trying to determine what Natasha’s even been feeding you in the few moments she looks away to socialize with everyone else. Pepper’s done a good job at keeping her busy, the strawberry blonde unable to ever end a conversation after one topic.
“Sun Crusiers.” Natasha hums, “She gave me the eyes. What was I supposed to do?” She throws her hands up, looking like the depiction of a useless lesbian as her eyes bounce between Wanda and your breasts that bob with the current of the water that drags and pulls you as you try to swim away from Kate, shrieking with glee. Somewhere along the lines, the game of chicken you’d been playing had turned into something else, and neither Wanda nor Natasha know what that games supposed to be.
“Say no.” Wanda mutters dryly, but her attention isn’t really on Natasha anymore. She watches as Sharon lunges forward in the pool, her fingers just slightly catching your waist though its clear your body wasn’t her intention. It’s enough to encourage Wanda to beacon you over to her though, not willing to take any chances with you. Not with Sharon. Half the people at this party could tell you why she’s a bad idea. “Sunny!” Wanda’s voice reaches across the backyard somehow, startling your attention away from Yelena who’d finally managed to grab your shoulders and onto her. You look at her like she’s hung the stars for you in every lifetime that you’ve lived. It takes her breath away every time. “Come help me!” She nods inside, looking almost mischievous as if that will help to ease you out of the pool without a fit or dramaticized pout.
She watches your mouth move as you say something to Yelena, and she can almost guarantee the blonde mocks your obidence because your cheeks flush and your head tilts downward as you climb the steps of the pool, shyly throwing your soaking wet braid off of your shoulder.
“Get me a beer and meet us in the kitchen?” Wanda asks as she moves to grab your towel that she’s left sprawled out across a chair in the sun, but it’s not really a question at all. Natasha rolls her eyes at the demand, but leans forward to press a kiss into the Sokovians temple before she stalks away, chucking her lukewarm beer into the garbage as she moves with stealth.
“Having fun out there, my little fish?” Wanda asks queerly when you’re close enough for the question to reach only your ears. You don’t answer, choosing instead to stumble into her open and outstretched arms, letting her wrap you up tightly in your sun warmed towel. Your head buries itself in her chest, inhaling the ebbing scent of her perfume that disintergrates as she sweats and moves beneath the suns beams. Her fingers brush flyaways away from your face as she guides your eyes up to hers, still finding that hazy softness swimming in your stare when she looks at you. How far you’ve come to trust these people with this part of you. How far you’ve come to understand at all that Wanda and Natasha will only ever have you around people they know will accept you fully and with flaws. Sharon may be a horrible girlfriend and a wicked flirt, but she’s one of the most accepting people Wanda’s ever had the displeasure of calling a friend. Still, she wants to hide this part of you. She wants to keep your softness to herself for a while. “Lets get you inside, my sun. I’m sure a popsicle would make swimming even better.”
Your eyes brighten at the promise of a popsicle. You’ve been waiting all day, and while you’ve found patience much to Wanda’s enjoyment, it had slowly been killing you as the sun, water, and alcohol wore away at your energy.
“Popsicle time?” You question bubbly, pulling away from her chest to stand fully on your own two feet, sunburnt cheeks bright and squeezable.
Wanda nods, “Popsicle time. And sunscreen time. You’re gonna be as pink as a poppy by the time we get you all wrapped up in bed tonight.” She teases, guiding you into the house with a wave at Maria over her shoulder, silently telling the brunette woman to give her a minute. Maria understand more than most at the party do, and she smirks cruelly back at Wanda and sips her cup of… whatever has been created from the open bottles in the kitchen. “Careful. One of these days I’m going to wrap you in bubble wrap for real.” She teases as you trip over the end of the towel just feet away from your destination. Wanda really questions why Natasha thought it was a good idea to fill you up with alcohol when you’re already incoherent on your feet, stumbling and falling about in the pool like you have no idea how your center of gravity works.
“Not my fault.” You mutter cheekily, a shy blush crawling up the back of your neck as you spin to look at Wanda.
“And whose fault was it?” Wanda quirks an eyebrow, her chin lulling to the side as she stares at you.
“Natty’s.” You say, evidence of how much time you’ve spent unsupervised with Yelena. Wanda wants to laugh, she really, really does, you look so cute with your little head titled back at her, your eyes sparkling as you know full and well you shouldn’t be blaming Natasha for things she’s not even around to see or find her own humor in.
“Don’t start lying again now, little girl. I’m still quite interested to see if Natty could really get that pussy the same shade as your suit.” You didn’t know Wanda knew Natasha had said that upstairs while you’d been getting ready, you’d forgotten all about it yourself, but the heat of your pent up and continuously denied arousal comes back quick and at full force. Wanda can see the sheen of heat that comes over you the moment it crashes, and she smirks knowingly, silently adding another talley to her list of wins.
“Sorry.” You avert your eyes bashfully, holding onto the edges of the towel tighter.
Wanda smiles at you softly, reaching for the bottle of sunscreen she’d left on the counter. She was just going to spray you down, but she doesn’t trust that enough now that she’s seen how easily you’re showing evidence of your time outside right now. She doesn’t aim to tease this time though, working your body over rather roughly as she just tries to do the best job she can. There’s a white cast to your cheeks when she’s finished with you, but at the very least, she hopes you wont burn any further. The UV should be dwindling soon, the summer sky beginning to change hues as the day ages quicker than anyone wants or can notice. Burning is only going to be a risk for another hour or so more, but you’re her baby, and quite honestly, she doesn’t want the three am waking when your brain clears and you realize how badly you hurt.
“That’s alright, sunshine.” She promises quietly as she sets the sunscreen back on the counter, turning to look at the fridge just as Natasha comes inside with three drinks. The neck of Wanda’s beer is between Natsha’s pointer finger and middle finger, and somehow she balances two solo cups in the other hand, her pinky and index finger supporting a lottery ticket Wanda has no idea where she got, or who she got it from.
“Alright, I have your beer. Maria poured me a 3 finger of whiskey, and for you, baby love, we have a red hawaiian punch.” Natasha plays up her delivery, hoping she’ll be able to sell you the drink despite its lack of alcohol. You take the bait, reaching for it out of her hands with an excited smile. You chug mindlessly, finally aware of how thirsty you were for something not carbinated. “I can’t believe Clint stayed back with the kids. We have two gallons of hawaiian punch we have nothing to do with.” Natasha adds as a second thought once she’s sure you’re content with your drink, following Wanda over to the freezer as she searches for a popsicle for you.
“Just tell Laura to take them with her when she goes. You know she never turns down food for those kids. They’re worse than you and Clint.” Wanda muses with an amused scoff, and Natasha makes a sound that insinuates she hadn’t thought of that solution of her own. “Alright, a popsicle for you, my little lady.” Wanda turns around with a bright smile, handing you an already open popsicle with the tips of her careful fingers. You grab it with your fist, lapping at it with a pink tongue that they both can’t help but watch. You don’t know what your’e doing, too enthralled by the flavor that melts across your tongue, but they watch you the whole time, even as you teeth bite down and break off half of the frozen treat in one go.
Natasha has to swallow a moan when your tongue pokes out to lick up a trail of juice that spills from your lips, and she really almost loses it when you miss, only smearing the red-pink evidence across your face a little bit more.
You finish the popsicle in record time, evidence of your inebriation and need of real sustiencence as the heat and your medication begin to make a real effect on you.
“Come here, let me fix your bathing suit messy girl.” Natasha tsks. Wanda doesn’t comment that theres nothing wrong with your suit, or that Natasha’s pupils are entirely blown with lust, just watches silently, wondering how this is going to play out for the both of you who are still beneath her thumb. You move when she wants you to move, and she hasn’t given either one of you permission to dive into the deep end yet again.
The tips of Natasha’s fingers are still white from digging around in the coolers outside for a beer. It takes only four second for Wanda to realize the russians intentions, but your brain doesn’t catch up until Natasha is worming her touch beneath the fabric of your tankini cups and pinching your nipples between her fingers. You jump, and Wanda’s not sure if its a reaction to the sudden cold or pain, but she enjoys the sight of you straining away from both sensations on your tippy toes, failing miserably to truly relieve the ache or temperature.
You splutter on a cough when Natasha pulls her hands away, smirking posessively as you as she glances toward the window, her eyes locking on a blue eyed individual who bears a smirk of sheer enjoyment, still stocily sipping whatever drink she’s mixed together. Your eyes find Maria’s after a moment, and you only cough again, cheeks flushing as you choke on air and saliva.
“Take a drink.” Natasha giggles, not all that concerned as she turns back to Wanda, letting you sit in the embarrassment of her disinterest. She’s very interested, but this is as far as Wanda’s letting her extend her hand right now, so she’s taking full advantage of the inches she has access too — even if she wants the miles Wanda has and hasn’t touched.
Neither one pay attention as your hand reaches for the cups on the counter, mindlessly thinking you were grabbing your hawaiian punch as you splutter for relief from the combined ache, burn, and scratch in your throat as your eyes water. Your nipples are pebbled beneath the ribbed fabric of your tankini’s cups, and they poke out proudly, unwilling to stay hidden for your modesty or mindset.
You’re still not paying attention as you raise the cup to your lips, taking a big sip that tastes nothing like you expect. You choke even more, not expecting the bitter taste that coats your throat with a persistent lingering. It takes only a moment, a single second for your brain to catch up to what you’ve just drank, and when it does, when you realize that its whisky, a smile tugs at your lips, your coughing and spluttering subsiding as you go in for another gulp before either Wanda or Natasha can reach across the island to snatch the cup from you.
The second wash of whisky against your throat is kinder than the last, but it still burns, it still twinges your insides, still forces you to swallow thickly a second time after it falls down your throat, but you anticipate it, expect it. Even if its not really, it feels like something you can control now; pain that you can limit and amplify at your own means.
Natasha catches your wrist in the middle of your third swig, your eyes watering as a few drops splash against your uvula and the roof of your mouth. You can feel it in your nose as you swallow, whining pitifully as she drags your hand away from your mouth. “I meant, take a drink from your juice.”
“Thought it was that one.” You shrug, pulling your wrist out of her grip if only to actually grab your juice and dunk the remnants of your popsicle into it, a truly adorable grin taking over your features as the different hues of color blend and swirl together. Natasha’s only a little bit bothered that she didn’t get to steal a bite before you submerged it.
“And it took you two more tries to make sure, huh?” She looks at you with a twinkle in her eyes, not truly perturbed but willing to take a few seconds to scold you anyways, adoring the way you seem to wiggle in your skin beneath her attention. “You’re going to have quite the headache tomorrow morning, little lady. Might even be glad I did your hair in one braid when you don’t have to hold it back as your puking over the toilet.” She sings in a teasing tone, taking the last bits of her whisky down in one go as she finishes her taunt.
“I can go play with Yelena again?” You question with indifference to her droning, not in the appropriate headspace in any capacity to comprehend or play into her taunting. Wanda chuckles into her hand as she raises the neck of her beer to her lips, always amused with the bantering that ensues between the both of you. She wonders what it had been like in the beginning, when you’d just been a secretary and Natasha couldn’t be so brazen in her flirting. She’d heard the stories from both of your perspectives a few hundred times, sometimes at two pm, sometimes at three am, but nothing would compare to getting to see the way she’s sure you blushed and Natasha twitched with concealed nervousness with her own two eyes. Neither one of you know how beautiful she finds you. Neither one of you know the things she truly cares about within those moments that you both let slip by unnoticed. There’s no way to make it happen, to rewind time and let her witness whats now history, your personal, intimate history, but she hopes, and that’s always gotten her through.
“You can go play with Yelena, but Natty’s gonna start grilling soon and then we’re going to put some clothes on and sit by the fire. No whining when I tell you it’s time to get out, right?” Wanda takes the opportunity to remind you of your place, your role, their expections and perception of you. Your cheeks flush at the display of dominance that’s uttered so sternly, your heart skipping just a single beat as you nod your head obediently, unsure of what has butterflies roaring in your belly so horridly.
“Cheeseburger.” You nod decicively, letting you gaze flicker to Natasha who watches you and Wanda fondly. You’ve concluded a long time ago that all this relationship can really be chalked up to is taking turns admiring each other. Someone is always staring, always memorizing new features they’d never noticed before. It’s sweet, but in times like these, it reminds you of how expode you are now, how unhidden you’ve made yourself. After years of builiding a repore within your small town, the quiet girl, the lonely girl, the abandoned girl, it would never quite feel right to have nowhere to hide when you’re with them.
Natasha’s head lulls to the side as she laughs, muscles in her abs flexing as her trunks slip lower and lower on her hips. Your eyes watch her skin as it ripples like the water in the pool, taken away from your mental rabbit hole by her undeniable (and unintentional) hotness. It’s almost annoying that she can look so good so easily, so carelessly.
“Yes, I know you want a cheeseburger. You always want a cheeseburger.” Natasha coos fondly, pulling open the cabinet beneath the center of the island for the trash can. She tosses her cup in mindlessly, using her hip to give it just enough momentum to propel closed without her fingertips. She takes full advantage of her free hands that are still kind of cold, colder than your skin at least, and settles them onto your hips, letting her fingers press into your ass beneath the waistband of your bottoms. “Are you having a good time with Yelena and Kate?” She asks quietly, dropping her forehead onto yours, slotting your noses together; taking a moment to just appreciate and hold you, something she hasn’t really done all day, even in the moments she’d had you all to herself. There’d been a mission then, a time constraint.
You nod your head softly, forgetting its against hers, and grin shyly when your foreheads bonk, her eyes closing in a soft moment of gentle exasperated humor as her shoulders shake with chortled laughter. “Yes.” You whisper decisively, and Natasha’s heart skips a beat knowing she and Wanda are the reason your autopilot setting is blunt responses. They don’t care for the cushions when you’re like this, like putty between their fingers, they just care that you’re able to express what you need and how you feel. They’ve taught you well; you’ve learned well.
“That’s good, sunshine.” Natasha pecks your lips sweetly, letting you taste the whisky on her lips and selfishly tasting the ice pop and juice spread against you. You’re sweet, like you always are, but you have your own edge to your tongue now as she taste the whisky hidden beneath your misleading invitation of cherry and strawberry. “Get back out there before it’s too late.”
“One more. Please.” You bargain, eyes fluttering as you lean in close to chase Natasha’s warmth as she backs away. You don’t need to clarify what you need from her, and she doesn’t make you ask a second time as she steps up to you fully and captures your lips in a real kiss now, pressing herself against you as harshly as she can without losing balance, not caring about the wet impression you leave against her or the fact that until now, she’d been perfectly dry by choice. She’d never deny you a kiss like this, not when she knows you’ll wrap around her like a monkey without shame, falling into a tunnel of black as the only light shines on her. You don’t disappoint now as you wrap your arms around her neck and attempt to make it seem like you have any power over her, it’s not intentional, but its still a subtle move of possession, one that has Natasha grinning against your lips like an idiot, effectively breaking suction for the first time.
You gasp for breath with raspberry cheeks, not red, not pink, wiping damp baby hairs out of your face with childish discordination. Your eyes sparkle with a few million stars, and Natasha takes a few seconds to try and count each one, matching constellations that feel like home to her after all this time, all this closeness.
“We agreed on one more.” Natasha pets your hair back affectionately, smothering your face akin to the way an aunt would a small, squishable child. “Go kick Yelena’s ass for me, kay?” She encourages, eyes sparkling with mischief that races through your veins at lightening speed with the assistance of alcohol in your system. You’re utterly fucked for tomorrow, that’s absolutely certain, but for now, you’ve never felt lighter.
“Okay.” You whisper, leaning in close and rising up on your tippy-toes to sneak attack her with a kiss before you skip away, eyelashes batting as you make eye contact with Wanda who smirks teasingly.
“No kiss for me?” She preens, jutting her hip out with a teasing attitude that makes you giggle with schoolgirl kind of charisma. “Go have fun, baby girl.” Wanda hums when you’re close enough to grab, linking an arm around your hips with one possessive grip as she balances her beer in the other hand, keeping it just out of your reach before your little drunk mind can lead you to anymore creative ideas. “Listening ears on when I tell you its time to get out, right?” She repeats again, her eye contact heavy and suffocating as you get lost in the vibrant green of her stare. Her eyes get so much lighter when she spends time in the sun.
Your head bobs, just like it did the first time she asked, but she shakes her head, clicking her tongue against her pearly white front teeth. “Words, detka.” She corrects, strictness settling into her gaze that reminds you silliness is only permitted occasionally.
Your expression sobers, your belly shrinking inside of you again. “Right.”
“Good girl.” Wanda’s eyes sparkle, a delicacy refilling the emerald voids. Right now, you don’t know why you were ever nervous about tonight. You don’t want it to end, you’re not ready for it in the slightest. If you could, you would stay in this afternoon forever, replaying every small moment — even the torturous ones.
-
The fire crackles. Ambient orange and yellow light licks at the air and your back. Natasha’s fingers trail up and down your spine. Goosebumps. Beads of sweat. Warmth. There are so many sensations captivating your focus, but what you choose to settle on is the tickle of her nails scratching at your skin beneath the flowy fabric of your tankini top. You’re not sure you can even call it that really, it dawns on you now, with your head against her collarbone and your legs straddling her waist in front of all of her friends. You can’t remember how you got into this position — how your legs ended up no either side of hers or your how your head was tucked into her neck like it had always belonged here, but you don’t pull away from its warmth and weight, even as you feel stares on your back that spark warmth somehow hotter than the fire that licks at you.
You don’t think this top counts as a tankini. It doesn’t really cover your belly at all. All it does is flow around your curves, concealing the figure that Wanda and Natasha love so much until you shift just right or the wind blows. It’s a lace-like mesh, a thin flowy detail that brings femininity to the otherwise just red bikini, and it brings you confidence, but your not so sure you have its classification in your wardrobe right.
“It was Wentworth, Yelena.” Natasha rolls her eyes, stilling her scratching of your spine to shoot a deep glare at her little sister who sits across the fire holding an empty leash.
Fanny and Lucky had been put inside hours ago, sometime before the sun had fully set beneath the trees and nightfall coated the sky thick and black. Sparklers have already begun being shot off and burned in the distance, and while no big fireworks have been shot off yet, you think Kate’s insistence to get it done ahead of time was a good call. You remember the dogs from your childhood always freaking out, and while these are city dogs, ones that are used to the constant chatter and noise of the city, you don’t think they’ll take kindly to the rapid and consecutive exploding still.
Despite the dogs being inside, probably in the kitchen lapping frantically at their water bowls making a mess, or lounging on the couch in the living room like they love to do, Yelena hasn’t relinquished her grip on the leash since she’d climbed out of the pool soggy and soaking, stretching her legs on land for the first time since she and Kate had turned up to the party ten minutes early.
You turn your face farther into Natasha’s chest, muffling the sound of your whine as it crawls up your throat, but directing the vibrations directly into her body. You wiggle in her lap, arching your back just enough for her to get the hint that you’re not pleased about the lull in attention to the notches in your vertebrae. Natasha doesn’t draw attention to your action, but her hand starts scratching your back again, her eyes never leaving Yelena’s sprawled out form.
The blonde sits on a camping chair dug out from the shed in the back of the yard. Natasha had spent the better half of an hour pulling all the appropriate fire pit chairs out from storage that morning, but Yelena had been insistent on wanting one particular army green chair that she swears Natasha initially inherited from her back in college. She throws her right leg over the armrest, reclining her spine partly over the back and edge of the chair as her hips cant with an upright angle. The position looks both incredibly comfortable and like something a prisoner in a straight jacket would be made to occupy for cruel and unusual punishment.
Natasha’s not finished ragging on her sister who she finally has an opportunity to get back at after all that bitchign and bossing around by the pool. She takes a swig of the beer in her hands, coating the back of her throat before she opens her mouth to groan again. “Why are you always so insistent on telling this story? You never remember her name.”
“Because I find it very funny, sister. It is comical to me that you would react so passionately to a high school basketball game. Remind me again, how long was it you were on that team?” Yelena, unfortunately, is not easily bested by her older sister, though Natasha, who remembers her as a gullible little bright eyed seven year old, can never seem to get that straight until she’s staring her straight into the eyes challenigly, willing her to keep going.
“Three weeks.” She grits out, unwilling to let Yelena walk away victorious. She wants Natasha to falter, to admit that she’s done something impulsively or embarassingly. Natasha isn’t fond of the anger she was quick to as a teenager, she isn’t fond of the lack of commitment to teams and extracurricular, buts she’s even less fond of allowing Yelena to feel like she’s won something she started. “And how long we’re you on the swim team, ‘Lena? How long did you have a crush on Antonia—”
”Geez! Alright, alright, alright, you mention one funny story and suddenly it is a full blown war.” Yelena sinks into her camping chair, taking a swing from the beer she’s been nursing since Kate brought her one on her way back from the bathroom and checking on the dogs.
“Antonia, huh? Who’s Antonia?” Kate questions, leaning forward in her chair thats far more comfortable than the one Yelena’s dug out thats probably littered with cobwebs and spiders. She takes a sip from her solo cup indifferently, arching a single perfect brow over the rim at her girlfriend of seven months. Apparently they’ve known each other since college, but Natasha says it took them both forever to get over themselves and actually go out on a date. They’re two of the most brazen, stubborn, head strong women you know. And yet somehow, that makes perfect sense for the trajectory of their lives as you know them.
“Oh, it is nothing. I do not even think I remember an Antonia from high school. Definitely not. Deidre Wentworth though, I remember her. And how Natasha punched her in the nose because she missed a three-pointer—”
“—it was a two-pointer, I really don’t know why you’re always so insistent to tell this story, and I really don’t think that’s going to save you right now.” Natasha gestures toward the pointedly curious brunette beside her sister, Kate’s bright blue eyes stormy and interested as she leans on the edge of her seat, the cushion beneath her ass providing little support as she neglects to use it appropriately now that Yelena has her so wound up. Her refusal to just answer the question that had stared as simple teasing was only working an emotional drunk Kate up more, her grip on the solo cup tightening to something crushing, the plastic looking like it threatened to give way between her white-knuckle fingers.
“It’s not.” Kate’s jaw clenches, a sheen of intimation coming across her features that you haven’t seen so genuinely before. You peak out from Natasha’s chest to catch the encounter, curious little eyes so hazy from alcohol and submission watching the scene with a grimace of curiosity. Your little heart clenches at the hostility, the tension, but your mind loves the drama that you know will spill in through a series of texts from Yelena once she, and Kate, sober up in the morningtime. “Who’s Antonia, Yelena?”
“Don’t look at me. I’m certainly not going to save you.” Maria scoffs, shaking her head when Yelena’s gaze falls upon her similar to that of a begging puppy. You wonder if she picked up the habit from Fanny. It would be just like her.
“Maria’s more of a sadist than your sister.” Wanda laughs, shaking her head in amusement.
Yelena grimaces, expression sobering. “Okay I did not need to hear that about my sister even if I did already know she is a bitch and a sadist.”
“Oi.” Natasha scolds, suddenly harsh, suddenly cold. You whine in her lap, turning your head back into her chest as her reprimand turns your bones cold, so used to being the only one on the receiving end of that tone. Everyone gathered around the campfire is too enthralled with Yelena and Kate to notice the bristle of immediate submission and sorrow in your reaction, but Natasha feels it in her lap — how you get heavy and tense on her skin. She drags her nails down your back with firmer pressure, reaffirming that you’re not the one in trouble. This time. Though for such a good girl, you’ve found quite the bit of trouble on your own today. “Watch yourself, Yelena. YA naderu tebe zadnitsu.” You don’t know what that means, Natasha’s never said it to you, nor has Wanda ever taught you, but it brings comfort to know that she’s really not addressing you. Her scratching nails hadn’t been enough.
“You’re not getting out of this now.” Kate kicks her leg out, tapping Yelena’s shin with more force than necessary. The blonde frowns, groaning as she lowers a hand to nurse the ache.
The Russian, who you’re learning is the epitome of a dumb blonde despite her gruff and edgy outer appearance each time you see her, looks at her girlfriend with eyes filled with betrayal. “My shin.”
“Not helping.” Pepper groans, dropping her arm to the side of her chair, wine sloshing out of the solo cup she’d poured it into.
Sharon scoffs, seemingly knowing that the response Yelena chose was a bad call even with her track record with women and dating in general. “Yelena. Really?” She scolds, shaking her head in disappointment as she bites off the end of a hotdog she’d been holding over the flames of the campfire.
Kate kicks her again. Harder. The orange flames lick brighter and higher as Wanda throws more firewood in from her seat, losing interest in the arguement as her eyes turn to watch you instead. You’re entirely unaware, lost in the comfort and presence of Natasha as your heavy eyelids remain closed and exactly as stated; heavy. She can see the effects of the alcohol and the sun combined on your features, but you’re not ready to call it quits yet, you’re not ready to crawl up to bed alone, without them.
“Antonia Dreykov.” Yelena admits with a reluctant scowl, and you’ve offically lost interest in the story now, familiar with how much of a villain she (and her father) had become in Natasha and Yelena’s lives. You’re glad they can talk about her, and him, with ease now, but it lights a fire beneath both you and Natasha on their behalf each time.
You don’t want to listen, too drunk, too sleepy, too emotional. Your fingers tap Natasha’s wrist, dizzy eyes finding hers with a timidness that stops the world around her for a moment. She smiles at you with her own drunken charm, her skin tinted with evidence of her inebriation now as the fire glows against her skin. She’s always warm. She’s warmer now.
“Hi sunshine.” She whispers, leaning down to peck your lips softly as she shares a moment with you and only you, though she’s acutely aware of Wanda’s eyes on the both of you from across the firepit. You’re not sure why she chose a seat so far away, but Natasha knows it has everything to do with her testing the bounds of her control, willing to see how well Natasha can handle herself as she gets you all cuddly and to herself by the fire. It’s a dangerous game you don’t even know you’re apart of, but if she fails, you’ll know. Oh, you’ll know.
“Sip.” You request sluggishly, blinking at her with innocent wonder. She wonders how you can handle the weight of your eyelashes. They look so full and heavy as you bat your gaze at her.
“Mommy’s going to kill me for getting you so drunk.” She whispers against your lips, too drunk to be phased by your quiet, bossy demand, too captivated by you to realize she’s the one slipping farther down into a quiet, fuzzy headspace now. The world gets so quiet when she has you like this; when she gets to act and assert control like this. “You’re going to be such a little nightmare in the morning.” She continues to talk about you and you’re none the wiser, fixated on the beer that sloshes around the bottle as she condescends you with affection.
“Sip.” You repeat, tugging on her wrist now as your slim little fingers wrap around her wrist, fingertips not even touching each other as you attempt to pull her close.
“Yeah, yeah. Sip, I know.” She breaths through her mouth before she uses her free hand to tilt your chin upward, holding your jaw between careful fingertips as she pours the beer straight into your mouth. You gulp with an urge, letting your throat bob tantalizingly as Natasha watches. The drips that leak from your lips when she pulls the bottle back catch her eye just like the juice from the popsicle had, but Wanda clears her throat from across the fire, stealing her attention before she can forget the instructions given to her.
Things had definately changed since Wanda and Natasha’s go at this. Maria can tell as she watches them watch you and each other wordlessly.
“All done.” She tells you firmly. You shake your head, trying to pull her wrist back to you. “Yes, we’re all done. You’ve had enough. Just relax against me now. Just close your eyes again and let me rub your back.” Natasha chastises with a gentle guidance, lowering your head back into the dark pocket of her neck. You want to fight, you try to fight as its happening, but the second your heavy head finds a place to rest again, your brain realizes how good it feels to just be heavy against her body. “Good girl, there you go. That wasn’t so hard, was it? No. No, it wasn’t. You just like to give Daddy a hard time, just like to be reminded that she cares. It’s alright, sunshine. Daddy cares. Daddy will always remind you she cares.” Natasha buries her face in your head as she drops the bottle beside her, knowing she’s going to have to come back here with a garbage back tomorrow afternoon anyways. One more bottle isn’t going to hurt anything besides her landscaping as beer sloshes onto the grass, but she thinks her fates already been sealed anyways.
Her hands continue to rub and scratch at your back at first, getting higher and lower, lighter and firmer. She takes you away from the conversation happening around you. You don’t hear Yelena droning on and on, not helping herself with Kate as she explains the slow burn of her relationship with Antonia in a way that could make even the most composed women shake — Kate Bishop is not a composed women, she never stood a chance at staying in her camping chair as Yelena admits to sharing her very first kiss with the scar-faced blonde beneath the chlorinated water of the high school pool. You miss the way the brunette stands and drags the blonde away from the fire, huffing and puffing something about ‘thinking B was the only love affair’ on her way to the house. The sliding glass door slammed closed so hard Wanda felt the vibration in the ground beneath her chair, but you remained passively indifferent, only making faint cooing and humming sounds as Natasha works your skin warm.
Her trailing gets bolder without your noticing, her hands that once started on your back innocently scratching skin trailed down to your thighs before they staked claim where they really wanted to be on your ass. Natasha massages the globes between her palms, still humming along to the conversation, vibrating your cheeks as she pipes in from time to time, but paying the most attention to the way the muscles in your ass twitch and jump in response to her kneading and prodding.
Pepper is in the middle of a story pertaining to something about Stark Industries when Natasha dares to dip her fingers beneath the fabric of your shorts and bottoms, Her fingers are only slightly warm, the chill of the beer keeping them from truly absorbing the warmth of the fire as she sits closer to the flames than anyone else around your small but plentiful circle. You whine into her neck, being shushes carefully moments later.
She doesn’t stop until she’s satisfied, and certain that if she goes on any longer, she’s either going to finger you right there, or Wanda’s going to leap out of her chair and drag you both up the stairs and to the bedroom without so much as a word to the guests slowly losing their energy around the fire. But, even when she retreats, she jostles her thigh just enough to brush your core with the fabric of her trunks, never letting herself be perceived as anything less than a menace.
The party doesn’t drag on much longer. Sharon clears out, then Pepper. Maria offers to stick around and clean up a little bit, but Wanda brushes her off with a well hidden urgency, just wanting to strip herself and fall into bed with you and Natasha for the night. Her emerald eyes are pink with exhaustion around the edges, the days events and emotions finally catching up to her as the first pop of fireworks shoot off from the distance.
Maria promises to send pictures of the ones she sees on her uber ride home, and Wanda thanks her as Natasha coerces you out of her grip and into Wanda’s, telling her girlfriend softly that she’s going to fish out a pair of pajamas for you before they lose you to the calling of sleep that’s going to ring as soon as you make eye contact with your bed.
“Did you have a good night?” Wanda asks quietly once it’s just the two of you in the backyard, the sound of Maria climbing into an uber at the end of the driveway in time with the fireworks in the background confirming your completion of the event and the day.
You nod against Wanda like a sack of potatoes, your arms wrapped around her waist as you seek every bit of warmth and support she’s willing to give you. Your head is heavy, spinning. Your belly doesn’t quiet feel right. You’re running on fumes, well past the point of no return.
“That’s good, my little sun.” Wanda hums, dropping her forehead to the crown of your head, inhaling the mixed scent of her shampoo, your sweat, saltwater, and the sunscreen she’d lathered you in once more before settling around the fire just for precautions. “I’m so glad to hear you had a good time. Maybe next time we won’t have to be so scared abuot it first.”
It takes so much, but somehow, you find the strength to lift you head and find Wanda’s eye, grinning at her bashfully, drunkenly. “Maybe.” You parrot, blinking slowly. If she stands out here with you any longer, she’s almost certain you’ll fall asleep standing up.
“Come on, my love. Let’s get you into your jammies and all cozied up in bed.”

Natasha sighs when she makes it through the sliding glass door, the mask she’s worn for the crowd all night finally dropping as she takes her hair down, assessing the damage of the kitchen for a moment with tired eyes. She massages the center of her scalp where the hairtie pulled pieces of her hair the tautest, a shudder shaking her shoulders as the delicious pressure she applies tickles her nerves.
The platters of food Wanda prepared have been destroyed. The salami and bologna she’d laid out in spirals that resembled roses looked like mutiliated blobs on the wooden charcuterie board now, browning and wilted as they sat in two lonely little balls, the surrounding cheese and crackers eaten to crumbs. The fruit salad was lacking too, only a scoop or two left out of the entire bowl Wanda had filled with tender love and affection. Natasha’s glad it got eaten, but she hopes Yelena had gotten her fix, because she can only remember brining a cup of fruit salad out to her twice, and she doubts the blonde had remembered to grab a container for herself whenever she’d left with Kate.
She had to of left, Natasha thinks, suddenly unsure about whether or not Kate and Yelena still linger in the halls or guest bedrooms of the home. It wouldn’t be the first time they stayed behind to release some pent up frustration or sleep over a hangover, but the dogs are eerily quiet too if they remain inside, and the booming of fireworks she tastefully tunes out is incessant enough to at least set Lucky off; he’s always been the least tolerant of the two, but Natasha firmly stands on the belief that it has everything to do with Kate Bishop being the most permissive pet parent she’s ever encountered despite the interest in archery and black belt karate status. For a woman that knows a thing or two about discipline, she has no knack for implementing it in any category of her life.
She drops her hands, more concerned about taking adequate count of the heads in her house than assessing the damage of the party anymore. Her footsteps aren’t as quiet as they had been in the morning, her exhaustion and inebriation corrupting her learned reflexes that remind Wanda so much of a spider.
“Yelena?” She calls out, stepping farther into the kitchen only to stick her head between the opening in the wall and direct her tone toward the staircase upstairs. Nobody’s in the living room, and the hallway leading toward the outdoor linen closet is dark, but her doubt isn’t gone yet as she turns on her heels and walks back toward the dining room, thinking about how Kate prefers the water pressure from that wing of the houses half bath for some reason.
The floorboards creak beneath her clumsy step, but she’s coherent enough to look out for any signs of Lucky or Fanny barreling toward her at the sound. “Kate?” She shouts, rounding the corner into the dining room. She reaches for the light switch, almost certain that she’d left them on to begin with, but only knowing that now, they’re off and the room is painted in darkness that extends until it reaches the bathroom through the room and down the hall.
“Lu—” Natasha’s in the middle of trying to call for the dogs themselves when she catches something she least expects on the table. “Fuck.” She curses, rushing toward it with intention. She can tell from across the room that something’s not right with Monkey-Monkey as he sits on the dining room table slumped over. The last time she’d seen him was in the bedroom, propped up nice and high overtop of the covers. The shadow of his tail seems too far away from his body, and when she gets close enough to understand why, her heart sinks to her feet.
‘The girls must’ve found this in the toy box.
Sorry for the tragedy.
Went home. Grabbed salad.
Suka’
”If anyone’s a bitch it’s fucking you.” Natasha shakes her head as she throws the note she’d found on the table beside your beloved stuffed animal to the floor, trying her hardest to retrace the last place she’d seen her needle and thread. It wasn’t the first time Monkey-Monkey had suffered a tragedy, that was for sure, but tonight was not a night that Natasha wanted to test your ability to regulate your emotions without your fuzzy friend. “I swear, that kids broken everything she’s touched si—”
“Daddy?” Natasha jumps at the call of your voice, and Wanda knows something is wrong before she even sees the ball of matted browns in her girlfriend hands. Her breath hitches when she makes eyes with it though, knowing immediately what had distracted her always alert girlfriend so direly without needing to ask. You giggle, blinking sleepily at Natasha from the doorway of the dining room, swaying on your feet a bit as you stand away form Wanda’s body. “What’re you— Monkey-Monkey. Oh.” Your soft eyes flicker between Natsaha’s face and the stuffed monkey in her hands. It takes only a moment, a single moment, for your face to crumble, pitiful and soft sobs shattering the silence Natasha had once been seeking comfort in.
“This isn’t quite the way you left him, huh.” Natasha doesn’t know what else to do, how else to approach you, this was most definately not on her long list of things that she had mentally prepared for going into today. She’d told you to leave it in the bedroom explicitly so this didn’t happen. She thought she closed the door behind her when she walked out. She thought she did. She was almost certain she’d closed that door, they always close that door. Apparently she didn’t. The evidence is in two pieces in her hands.
He’s relatively unscathed beside the detached tail, that thankfully is its own seperate seam, no stuffing exploding from his butt, but relatively unscathed isn’t what you want to hear right now as Wanda sweeps you up into her arms and tries to console you softly.
“We’ll get him fixed up, sunshine.” Wanda assures, pressing her lips to your temple thats warm from the proximity of the fire even with your face turned away from the flames into Natasha. “We’ll fix him.”
“B-Bedtime!” You sob into the Sokovians chest, reminding her of your routine that hadn’t changed since before you’d even offically moved in with Natasha way back when. One of them always tucks you into bed, then puts Monkey in your arms, and then crawls in after you if work constraints allow. They’ve never dared to mess with that routine. Not while visiting Clint and Laura on the farm they have in Ohio, not while on work trips to LA, or Montana. Never once have either of them ever dared to get you to rest those eyes without the fourth member of your california king sized bed.
“We will have him by bedtime. Nobody is going to make you close those pretty eyes without Monkey. Can you tell me him full name? Huh, can you remind me of what it is?” Wanda remembers it fully, if only because she can’t help but giggle at what was once your imagination when you’d first received the cuddly toy.
You sniffle, glancing up at her with teary, bright red eyes. “M-Monkey-Monkey Ophelia Plum.” You stutter, but the words make you think, make you breathe, and Wanda uses the distraction to usher you up the stairs, leading her questioning into that of what pajamas you want to pick out for yourself tonight, and whether or not you want the fan pointed at you again, or more toward her.
You want the pink pair with the scallops on the sleeves, and you don’t want the fan on you again. Wanda doesn’t fight. She doesn’t argue over the pair of jammies that she helps you into even though you get frustrated with the way the tags rub against your neck in the middle of the night but won’t let be cut out, nor does she remind you that the heatwave is meant to strike again tomorrow, and the humidity is known for sneaking in through the gaps in the windows. She lets you have your way. She lets you whine, and boss, and demand, and she lets you pucker your lips and beg for kisses wordlessly, if only to stall, to make time for Natsaha to pull off a miracle downstairs.
“You did so good today. So good for me and Dady.” Wanda coaxes gently as she drags a wipe between your legs, shushing you softly when you whine at the cold. “Mommy’s gotta clean this little kitty up, sunshine. It’s been so leaky all day. Mommy just wants to make sure her little girl goes to bed nice and clean. You might be too drunk to understand me right now, but you’ll thank me for sparing you from the rash that would’ve happened.” Wanda talks to you in a manner that only dumbs you further, your eyes blinking closed and not opening as you lounge on the bed, spread out and pampered.
Wanda tries not to moan as she wipes down your core one last time, a string of arousal clinging to the wipe and your cunt before it breaks and you’re deemed as clean as she can get you. She wiggles your shorts back up your thighs, thanks her lucky stars that she’d coached you through brushing your teeth and washing your face before she’d undressed you and gotten you changed, and somehow manages you get your heavy, deadweight body beneath the covers just as Natasha creeps into the room holding a companion thats seen better days.
“He’s not perfect. I can make him better tomorrow.” She starts warningly, and your little eyes blink open, the last of your concieousness given to her in this moment. “But, I have someone here who wants to say goodnight to you.”
“Mmm.” You try to hum, and your fingers wiggle against the mattress as you attempt to reach for him, but you’re unsuccessful and Natasha can only laugh endearingly as she stalks closer to the edge of the bed, more than happy to hand him over to you.
She leans forward and kisses your forehead softly, her hair falling forward and tickling your skin slightly. You’d giggle if you could but instead you groan, suddenly very aware of how sick you feel despite the advil Wanda made you choke down with some water in the bathroom. The bathroom. You’re drunk, but you remember all that had gone down in there this morning, and you whine as you wiggle in bed. Natasha shushes you, smoothing her hand down your back.
“Nigh nigh time for you, my sweet girl. Close those pretty eyes. Go to sleep with Monkey.” She’s talking to a wall by the time she finishes coaxing you, your breaths even and soft as she continues to pet your head, running her palm over your messy braid. She’ll give you two tomorrow if you still want them.
Wanda throws a t-shirt and a pair of boxers at her from across the room, already naked and rummaging through her own drawer searching for good enough pajamas. Natasha doesn’t grumble at the old t-shirt or holey boxers she’d been intending to throw away for the last three wash cycles, just glad to have something different and less constrictive on her body after so long in the sun and humid heat. She’s sure she smells. She can feel the thickness on her skin of perspiration thats dried and remelted and dried again, but her and Wanda seem to both be on the same page as they knock elbows while brushing their teeth, both forgoing showers in favor of just crawling into bed with you and each other.
“Lock up and I’ll fix that fan and see if I can get her into another shirt. We’re going to have enough meltdowns tomorrow.” Wanda yawns, rubbing her eyes as she flicks the bathroom light off behind her.
“Come ‘ere first. Barely got to hold you all day.” Natasha grumbles, closing the space between her body and Wanda’s as they share a kiss just feet away from your peaceful sleeping frame. “I love you. I’ve always loved you. I never stopped loving you.” She whispers, meaning every word.
“I love you. I’ve always loved you. I’ve never stopped loving you. I will never stop loving you. Or her. I love the both of you so much that it hurts.”
You have everything you could ever need or want, and you are happy as Wanda's precious human treasure. But humans get curious, and when you end up outside of the grounds, breaking the very simple rule she has given you, Wanda must teach you to listen. You are hers, and she will make sure you know that.

The manor has everything you could ever want.
Wanda told you this early on, in those first bewildering weeks when the scale of the place still made you feel small. She had walked you through room after room: the library with its floor-to-ceiling shelves and the rolling ladder you had immediately wanted to try, the conservatory green and smelling of earth, the kitchen stocked with everything you had ever mentioned liking, sometimes before you had finished mentioning it. She had watched you take it all in with those eyes of hers, green with that constant deep red swimming underneath, and she had said: you will never want for anything here, my treasure.
She was right, mostly. The manor is extraordinary and you are genuinely happy in it. And you love Wanda with the whole of your uncomplicated heart, which she finds both astonishing and essential. You love the library, the conservatory, the kitchen, and the dark red sheets of your shared bedroom where you wake each morning to find new marks on your skin—bite marks and kiss marks, with small impressions of her rings, left while you slept. Wanda does not sleep, therefore giving her a great deal of nighttime hours to fill, and apparently she fills a significant portion of them with her mouth and hands on you. You have never minded this. You mind very little about Wanda, which she also finds astonishing, and you find a little sad, because she should be loved simply and completely and you are very glad to be the one doing it.
So the manor has everything.
And yet.
You have always been curious. It is not a flaw you have ever been able to correct in yourself—you come by it honestly, like all humans, that pull toward the unknown thing, the unseen room, the path that goes somewhere you haven't been yet. Wanda finds it maddening. Wanda finds it also a little bit charming, but that is only because she finds most of your human qualities charming while simultaneously wishing you had fewer of them.
There is one rule. You know the rule. You are not supposed to leave the manor grounds, which are extensive and beautiful, and they are also warded with something old and powerful that Wanda checks every week with her hands pressed to the stones and her eyes gone fully red with concentration. The world beyond the wards is dangerous, she has explained. There are other vampires. There are other humans. There are things that hunt. You are not safe out there, she has urged you to remember many times. It's for your own safety, little lamb, she has said countless nights, trembling hands cradling your face.
You know this. You have always known this.
Wanda has caught you outside the manor before. Twice in the garden past dark, once near the south wall where the stones are lower and the fields beyond them looked so open and golden in the afternoon light that you had simply gone to look. Each time she had appeared—simply appeared like smoke, present where it was not a moment before—with those red eyes. Each time it had ended with her teeth at your neck and her hands in your hair, her voice low against your ear saying things that you had felt all the way through you. Each time, you had been very sorry.

Today, Wanda has gone to the market, which she does occasionally. She pressed her lips to your hair this morning before she left, both hands cupping your face, looking at you for a long moment before saying her usual warning.
"Stay inside, my darling," she whispered, and you nodded immediately.
You are in the garden by ten o'clock, which is technically inside the grounds and therefore not breaking any rules. The roses along the south wall are extraordinary today, heavy-headed and deep red, and you cut several carefully and talk to them while you do it because talking to plants is something you do and have never once felt embarrassed about. The wildflowers near the old well have come in beautifully too, small white ones next to yellow ones, plus a violet variety you don't know the name of, and you crouch among them for a long time, perfectly content.
Then you look up.
The forest begins just past the northern wall—the old stone one, mossy and slightly crumbling, with the tall trees rising dark and close just beyond it. You have looked at it before. Many times, from this exact spot, you have looked at it and admired the light, the way it filters through the leaves. You've been captivated by the way it smells of pine and earth with something older than both underneath.
Today, your attention is drawn to the flowers just inside the treeline. They're small and blue, nodding in a light breeze just past the wall, just barely visible through the gap where the trees part like a doorway.
Wanda told you not to go into the forest. Many times. The forest is outside the grounds of the manor.
You look at the flowers. You look at the wall.
The stones are uneven enough to grip if you chose to. Not that you are choosing to. You’re simply…observing.
But the flowers are very pretty.
The basket is over your arm and your boots find the first good handhold before you have entirely finished the thought, and then you are at the top of the wall with the garden behind you and the forest ahead. The air on this side smells different—wilder, cooler, full of things you don't have names for—and it is lovely.
The forest floor is soft under your boots. The light breaks through the canopy in long gold columns that make the whole space feel cathedral-like, important and hushed. You go to the flowers you saw from the wall and they are even prettier up close. There are more flowers further in, a wider variety, and you follow them without quite deciding to, your feet simply going where the pretty things are.
The clearing you end up in is a proper clearing, wide and light-filled, carpeted from edge to edge in wildflowers, and you walk into it and stop to stand there for a moment, feeling something in your chest go very quiet. It's a good quiet. A relaxed quiet.
You sit down.
The moss is soft beneath you and the flowers nod around you, the light falling warm on your face. Your basket is full already and it seems a shame to leave immediately. You'll just rest for a moment. Just a moment, tilting your face up to the light, your eyes drifting closed. Just a moment.
You fall asleep among the flowers.

It takes Wanda 43 seconds to journey home from the market.
She does not walk. She has not walked anywhere with genuine intent in a very long time. Walking is for things that are patient, things that trust the destination will still be there when they arrive. Wanda does not trust. She moves like a shadow moves when the light shifts—between one place and another so fast that the space between them becomes irrelevant. The market bag lands on the kitchen counter. Her coat is still on, her rings catching the light.
"Oh, darling!" she calls, reaching for you the way she always does, before anything else, searching for the sense of you she has carried for two years like a second pulse.
She finds nothing.
For a moment, she does not understand this. You have always been there to find. It was never a question, like the sun rising or seasons changing. She reaches again, and this time there is something almost indignant in it—a refusal to accept the absence as real, as though insisting hard enough might correct it.
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
She has never once, in two years, had to consider what she is without the fact of you anchoring her. She built the entire architecture of herself around the certainty of you—every room in this manor arranged around where you like to sit, every night's hours filled with the specific project of your body, your sleep, your small human wants catalogued and answered before you finished voicing them. She is not a woman who loves you the way humans love each other, with room left over for the possibility of loss. She loves you the way a house loves its foundation. She does not conceive of herself continuing to stand without it, and so she has never had to.
Now there is a version of the next several minutes where you are not hers, and she cannot metabolize it. It does not fit anywhere in her. She stands in the kitchen and something in her simply refuses the information, over and over, a mechanism grinding uselessly against a fact it cannot process.
She says your name.
You do not answer.
The sound she makes is low and wrong, entirely unfamiliar coming from her own throat, and underneath the fear is something uglier already stirring: if you have simply left, if you have simply walked away from all of this, from her, then every room in this manor and every night of two years and the entire private religion she has built out of you is not what she believed it to be, and she does not know what she becomes on the other side of that.
She will not consider it. She refuses.
She is outside in a flash, casting through the grounds too fast, too hard, cracking against the edges of her own wards without meaning to. There—your scent, faint, moving toward the northern wall.
Outside, past the boundary she set specifically so that nothing could ever have a claim on you that competed with hers, and the relief she feels at the scent existing at all is instantly swallowed by a colder thought: you climbed that wall yourself. Nobody took you. You went.
That is worse, somehow, than anything with teeth waiting in the dark would have been.
She crosses the grounds without her feet touching the grass, and the thing building in her chest now isn't fear for your body—it's something closer to the vertigo of watching a fact you built your entire self around reveal itself as merely a preference, something you could apparently choose to walk away from over a handful of flowers. She finds the marks in the moss where you climbed and clears the wall without breaking stride.
She follows your scent through the trees, and the whole way there is a single, looping thought she cannot silence: she left me. She left me. She left the wards, she left the manor, she left me, and it does not matter, in this state, that you are only in a clearing, only asleep, only a few hundred feet past a stone wall—the fact of you choosing to go, however small the going, is the only fact her mind can currently hold.
She finds the clearing, stopping at its edge, and she does not move.
You are there on your back among the flowers, entirely peaceful, dirt on your cheek, a small white flower caught in your hair, your basket tipped over beside you. As though nothing has happened at all, because for you, nothing has.
She stands there for a long moment, watching you breathe, and what she feels is not relief. Her brain recognizes the new information: you did not leave her, not on purpose. You are still here. You are still, technically, hers.
But the fact that the question was ever possible at all—that you could be somewhere she had not put you, doing something she had not chosen, existing for even a handful of minutes entirely outside her awareness of you—sits in her like something she cannot fully put back down.
She crosses the clearing soundlessly.
(-)
You wake to Wanda.
The hand at your throat is the first thing you notice. It’s a warm grip, firm but not cutting off air, her fingers wrapped around the column of your throat with a precision that makes it clear she knows exactly how much pressure she is using. Your eyes open and find hers immediately, like they always do. It's perhaps instinct by now.
She is very close—above you, her dark hair falling forward, her pale face framed by the canopy of trees behind her. Her eyes are fully red. She is breathing, which she does not always do, quick and deliberate breaths that tell you she has been frightened, which she almost never is, and it sits cold and strange in your chest.
You open your mouth. Surely, she will understand. The flowers were just so—
"You stupid girl," she says.
It comes out as a hiss, the consonants going wrong at the edges, too much of whatever lives underneath the surface of her making it into the words. Her hand at your throat does not tighten, nor does it loosen. Her body above yours is rigid with the effort of keeping still.
You have no chance to recover from the shock or try to speak again, because she kisses you.
It stops every thought you had. It is not gentle and it is not asking—it is a kiss that is filled with desperation, her free hand coming to your jaw and holding your face up toward hers. You make a small sound into her mouth and she makes a sound back that you feel in your sternum, her hand at your throat staying exactly where it is.
She bites your lower lip, careful and controlled even now, and then her mouth covers it, sucking the blood she has drawn. You feel her exhale against your lips—shakily, which she would never do if she knew she was doing it—and she stays there at your lip, taking what she needs, and you feel her begin to ease under your hands.
Then she moves to your neck.
Her hand shifts from your throat to your jaw, cupping it, tilting your head to expose your throat, and she presses her lips to your pulse point and stays there for a moment. She just stays there, her lips against your pulse, feeling it.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
You know she can feel it. You know what it means to her.
She bites, her fangs piercing your skin.
She is always careful with this—two centuries of practice, she told you once, with a dry humor you hadn't known what to do with at the time. She takes only what she needs, a slow pull, controlled to the last degree, and the sensation of it is something you have stopped trying to describe to yourself because description requires you to be thinking clearly and this has never once allowed you to think clearly. You feel yourself going heavy and soft underneath her, your hands finding her coat and holding on.
And then the forest disappears.
You are on your back on the dark red sheets a moment later.
You don't feel the transit—you never do, she moves faster than your little human brain can record—and for a moment you simply lie there blinking at the familiar ceiling of your bedroom, the heavy curtains, the dim light. Then Wanda's hand gathers both of yours and presses them above your head and she is there above you, her face close, her eyes still very red.
"My dumb little lamb," she says. She bites your neck again, right at the same mark, and you gasp. "Going out like that." She kisses your cheek tenderly, incongruous with everything else. "So stupid." Her free hand comes to your face, tracing your cheekbone with the backs of her fingers, cold and ringed but impossibly gentle. "Such a curious, pretty thing."
She grabs the fabric of your shirt with both hands and rips it, the sound cutting through the air of the bedroom like a record scratch, the cool air of the room meeting your skin. She looks at you, at the marks already yellowing at the edges from last night and the night before, and her jaw tightens.
She lowers her mouth to your chest, biting the swell of your left breast and holding it. The whimper you let out is immediate, your whole body arching under her. She moves across your chest with methodical focus, biting and kissing in a pattern that is not random—she is covering you, claiming every inch of skin she has not yet marked today, and her rings press cold into your skin where her hands hold you. She bites the inside curve of your left breast, your right, the soft skin between them, building a map she has already memorized and is refreshing anyway.
Your hand moves toward her hair.
She catches your wrist before it arrives—inhumanly fast, simply there and then redirected—and she presses it back above your head and then her hand is at your throat again, squeezing. Her eyes come up to yours, a look in them that makes your breath go short, a stare that goes right through you. It's almost terrifying. It's the look you've seen her give to those she wants to harm, one you have never seen directed at you.
Then, she registers what she is doing and softens her hand, spreading her fingers wide, and her eyes change—shifting from the wild edge to something that is still possessive and still absolute but is also gentler.
"Stay still," she whispers, hand shaking against your throat. "My precious treasure."
The words come out rough at the edges, like she is choosing them carefully against the tide of everything else moving through her.
"Stay still for me."
You nod, wide eyes staring at her as she moves to finish what she was doing before.
She covers your tits completely, biting and marking, pressing her cold rings into soft skin until she is satisfied with her work, then she begins to move down.
She bites along your ribs, your stomach, your hip. She lingers at each place, biting then pressing her lips to the mark, then moving on. You have learned this pattern and what comes after it, and you are already trembling by the time she reaches your thighs.
She bites the inside of your left thigh and holds the bite until you whimper and your leg tries to move, her hands holding you open and still. She releases and mouths over the mark. Then she moves to the right thigh, matching it. She works down each one—high to low, then back up—mapping territory she has already claimed and claiming it again, because claiming once has never been sufficient, because once is not the point, because the point is the constant renewed fact of her ownership of you.
You are soaked by the time she reaches your cunt.
She stops there, putting her nose against you and breathing in. She has told you before that your scent is something she can not adequately explain. That it is, for her, something like what she remembers of breathing. You had not known what to say to that when she said it. You had pressed your face into her neck and stayed there for a while.
She puts her mouth on you.
She is not capable of easing into this, not today, not with the forty seconds of losing you still moving through her like a current. Her tongue drags through your folds in one long, slow stroke first, claiming the taste of you in a single pass from your entrance to your clit, and she makes a low sound against you, something closer to relief than desire. She does it again. And again, savoring each pass, her nose pressed into you between strokes, breathing you in like she needs the confirmation of your scent as much as the taste.
Then she stops savoring.
She eats your pussy with a focused intensity bordering on feral, her tongue working through your folds in fast, deliberate circles before dropping lower to push inside you, curling and dragging against your entrance, fucking you shallowly with it in a way that makes your hips jerk before she drags back up to your clit and seals her mouth around it entirely. She sucks hard, with no warning to it. Her tongue flicks against your swollen bud even as her lips hold the suction, and you feel the vibration of the moan she lets out travel straight through your clit and up your spine.
Her nails press crescents into your thighs where her hands hold them open and wide, hard enough to leave marks by morning, and when your hips try to chase her mouth, she pins you flatter against the mattress without losing rhythm, holding you exactly where she wants you. Her mouth is cold where it first meets you, a shock of temperature that makes every drag of her tongue after it feel sharper and more distinct. The cold combined with the wet, obscene sound of her mouth working you, filthily audible now in the quiet of the room, has your whole body lit up in a way nothing warm-blooded has ever managed.
You are past words. You are past most things, lying there in the dim room with Wanda's dark hair spread across your inner thighs and her mouth on you like she is answering something that was asked a long time ago, her tongue alternating between broad flat presses against your clit and tight fast circles, reading exactly which one makes your thighs shake hardest and staying there until you're right at the edge.
She brings you to the peak and over it without ceremony, sucking your clit into her mouth again and flicking her tongue against it rapidly until the pressure finally breaks, your thighs clamping around her head and your hands breaking from where she left them to grab at the sheets, your cry cracking in the middle as the first wave hits. She works you through it and does not stop, her mouth never easing off, tongue still moving through every aftershock, not until you're actively trying to push her away, oversensitive and shaking, your fingers weak in her hair.
Then she crawls over you.
You're face to face, her dark hair falling around you both, her eyes close to yours, that red in them deep and constant. She brings her fingers to your pussy and you feel the cold metal of her rings against you first—a shock of temperature against how wet and swollen you already are—before she presses them inside, one finger, then two, sinking deep on the first stroke. She curls them immediately, finding what she already knows is there, dragging deliberately against that spot that makes your back arch off the mattress and a broken moan leave your lips, the bottom one still bleeding slightly where she bit it.
She is not gentle but she is slow, which is its own kind of devastating. She drags her fingers all the way out until just the tips remain, then buries them deep again with a curl on every withdrawal, her face close enough that every sound you make lands directly against her lips before it even finishes leaving your mouth. You can feel the stretch of her fingers moving inside you, the small give of your body accommodating her, over and over.
"Beautiful thing," she says against your mouth. She kisses you between words. "My beautiful, stupid thing." Her fingers drive deeper, curling harder, and you gasp. She swallows it whole.
"Lying there in those flowers." She kisses your jaw, your cheek, the corner of your mouth. "Like something left out for anyone to find."
Her fingers move faster now, the drag and curl of them audible, wet and unmistakable in the quiet room, and she feels you clench hard around them, satisfaction rolling visibly through her.
"Mine. You are mine."
She goes faster.
You are capable of only small, helpless sounds now, each one caught by her mouth before it can finish, her fingers relentless, curling deep and dragging out then driving back in without pause, her thumb finding your clit between strokes and pressing tight circles there that make your whole body jolt. Her eyes stay on yours the entire time, red and unblinking, watching every flicker of your face like she's committing it to memory. The tears arrive without warning, tracking down the sides of your face, and she presses her lips to your wet cheek, tasting salt and not slowing for a second.
"Yes," she says softly. "Give me all of it. Don't you dare hold anything back, my little lamb."
She goes faster still, her fingers driving deep and curling hard on every stroke, her thumb circling faster against your clit, and the wet sound of it fills the space between you both along with your own breathing, which is beyond ragged now.
You cum with a sound that breaks your own voice halfway through, your whole body shaking, your walls clenching hard around her fingers, and she does not stop. She goes faster, her fingers refusing to ease even as your thighs tremble and your hips try weakly to twist away, and you are crying properly now—adorable, gasping cries. She watches all of it with rapt attention, drinking in every detail of you coming undone like she could stare at nothing else for the rest of her life.
Her fingers keep moving inside you, and the feeling of them moving against your spent, oversensitive walls tears a sound out of you, your whole body flinching around her hand.
"Wanda—" Your voice cracks. "Wait, I can't—"
"Wait." She says it back to you like the word itself offends her, her fingers never slowing, curling harder against that same spot until your hips jerk violently. "You didn't wait, did you? Didn't think of me at all. Just climbed that wall and walked away from everything I've built for you." Her thumb finds your clit again, still swollen, unbearably sensitive, and presses down. You sob.
Your thighs try to close around her hand, try to twist away from a feeling that has crossed over from too much into something your body doesn't know how to hold, and she simply follows the movement, her free hand splaying flat and hard over your stomach to pin you down.
"Poor thing," she murmurs, and for one sentence her voice softens, her thumb easing its pressure just slightly, her eyes going almost tender as she watches tears slide fresh down your temples. "Look at you. You can barely take it." Then it's gone, the gentleness evaporating as fast as it came. "But you'll take it anyway."
She drives her fingers deeper, curling faster.
"This is what happens," she growls, "when you don't listen." Her thumb resumes its circles, ruthless and precise. "When you break the one rule I have for you." Your slick is soaking her hand, the sheets beneath you, and she groans softly at the feeling of it, at how wrecked and open you are around her fingers. "You're going to give me one more. Because I said so. Because you belong to me."
"I can't, please, I can't—" The words dissolve before you finish them.
"You can." She sounds almost upset with the idea that you'd doubt it. "You will. Because it's me asking." Her fingers curl again, deep and cruel but perfect all at once, and a high, broken sound tears loose from your throat that you don't recognize as your own voice. "Such a good little lamb when you just listen." Her voice doesn't change registers between the praise and what comes next. "Such a stupid, reckless, perfect girl." She says both like they're the same fact. "Mine to wreck. Mine to put back together after."
You are not sure anymore where the ache ends and the pleasure begins—they've folded into the same unbearable thing, your whole body shaking too hard to control, your voice gone raw from crying out, and Wanda watches your face like she's owed the sight of it, like this is the only proof she'll accept that the forty seconds of nothing didn't actually take you from her.
Your third orgasm doesn't arrive so much as your body simply gives out beneath it. Your vision goes white, your spine bows off the mattress, every muscle locks at once and then releases in a single violent shudder. Somewhere in the middle of it, the room goes distant, sound and feeling both slipping away together, and you are gone before it even finishes—fully, completely unconscious, your body going slack and heavy in her hands.
Wanda is very still above you, looking down at your face. She takes her time looking at every mark across your body, from your throat to your thighs, at your slack peaceful face, at the tear tracks drying on your cheeks, at the rise and fall of your chest. She looks at you like you are the reason she continues to bother with any of this. Like four hundred years of cold and endless night are worth it because they were the road that led here, to this room, to you. Like you are her happiness, like she would be a fool to ever leave you or let anything take you from her.
She withdraws her fingers carefully, gathering you up.
She is extraordinarily gentle now, her arms wrapping around you carefully and her body settling against yours, one hand moving in slow strokes along your back. She rocks you slightly, that motion she learned from watching humans and decided once to try. She has not stopped trying it.
She traces the marks she has made. Each one—her fingertip moving over your throat, your collarbone, your chest, down your sides—touching them lightly, learning the edges. Something about the touching is necessary to her. You have always known this without asking.
You surface slowly, your eyes opening, a quiet sound leaving you.
You tuck yourself against her and she holds you closer, her hand moving into your hair, and the chest beneath your cheek does not move—she does not breathe, not really, not anymore—and somehow the stillness of her is its own comfort.
You are quiet for several moments. You feel completely, entirely safe, right there in her arms.
"Are you angry?" you ask eventually, your eyes closed again.
You can feel her considering it.
"No," she says quietly. "No, my treasure, I am not mad."
She presses her lips to the top of your head and leaves them there.
"But don't you ever try that again," she whispers, and she does not lift her lips from your head until you nod sleepily in agreement.
The manor is quiet around you. Outside, in the clearing you found, the flowers you didn't pick are still nodding in whatever breeze finds its way there, and they will nod there tomorrow and the day after, unharvested, perfectly fine without you. The forest does not need you in it. Everything that needs you is here, in this room, holding you with hands that leave marks and eyes that watch you sleep and a cold chest that does not beat but somehow, inexplicably, makes room for you anyway.
"You'll always be mine," Wanda says to the dark, to your sleeping face. Her arms tighten slightly. "There is no flower worth the looking. There is no forest I won't follow you into." Her lips press to your hair. "You are mine. You have always been mine. You are…"
She breathes in your scent again, a slow inhale through her nose.
"My destiny."

Distant. Wanda had been distant lately.
Not a cold distant, just somewhere else. Somewhere buried in spreadsheets, client calls, and the glow of her computer screen that stretched far past midnight. You knew how much her company meant to her, how hard she’d fought to build it from the ground up. But lately, it felt like the only time you saw her was in passing—her lips brushing your forehead as she whispered “I’ll be home late, love you.”
In spite of missing her, you showed up to her office one afternoon. Coffee in hand, your heart feeling at a loss, you didn't expect a comment that would break something in you.
"Things have been so smooth lately," someone, one of her employees commented nearby, casually typing away. "Ever since Ms. Maximoff started to focusing more on the business instead of... distractions."
With a sensitive heart and a mind that works way too much, the comment took the wind out of you. All attempts at seeing her that day was spend back at home. The rest of the day passed in a blur, half tears, half obsessive determination. You went home, poured yourself over every financial report, every growth chart, every meeting summary.
You had enough to build a file with the information you cultivated. You found what you were afraid you’d find. The numbers didn’t lie. Ever since Wanda started spending less time with you, her company’s profits had spiked.
So when Wanda decided to work from home that week, you saw your chance.
She was in her office when you entered—hair tied back, red sweater sleeves pushed up, eyes fixed on the screen. You didn’t say a word. Just set the folder down in front of her.
She glances briefly at the file only briefly, "What's this? Im kind of busy. Can it wait-?"
"Just read it."
She hesitated, then flipped open the folder. Pages and charts and highlights stared back at her. She skimmed the first few, brows furrowing, before glancing up.
“Okay… these are company reports. So?”
You stepped closer, circling around the desk to stand beside her. The smell of her perfume hit you—familiar, grounding, almost enough to undo you right there. You leaned in, finger dragging over the pages, flipping them as you explain everything to her.
After explaining, she removes her glasses, looking up at you. "Yes, I am aware of this, I have meetings just to go over this kind of information."
You swallowed hard, your hand resting on the corner of her desk.
"Everything's better," you said softly. "your numbers, your clients, your sales. You're doing well, Wanda. So whatever you've been doing lately, it's really working for you."
Your voice cracked on you. Wanda finally turned to you, expression softening as she caught the tremor in your hands, the way your thumb rubbed at the small pendant hanging around your neck, the one she'd given on your first anniversary.
"Sweetheart," she murmured, rising slowly. "Is something on your mind?"
You hate how the room blurs so quick.
“I just… I realized you’re doing better without me,” you whispered. “That everything got better when you stopped… being with me."
Your words broke halfway through. The tears you’d been holding back spilled freely now, your shoulders shaking as you tried to cover your face.
Wanda’s chair scraped back, and before you could move away, her hands were on yours—warm, grounding.
“Hey, hey,” she said softly, stepping closer. “Is that what this is all about?”
You nodded, eyes squeezed shut, unable to meet her gaze.
Wanda exhaled, slow and heavy. Then she pulled you against her chest, her chin resting atop your head. You could feel her heartbeat against your ear, steady and familiar.
“You think I’m working hard because I want to get away from you?” she whispered. “Oh, detka…”
Her tone cracked then, gentle but aching. She pulled back just enough to cup your cheek, brushing away the tears with her thumb.
“I should’ve told you sooner.”
Taking your hand, she led you to her desk. She opened the bottom drawer—the one she always kept locked. Inside were three small velvet boxes, neatly lined up.
You blinked. She picked one up, opening it slowly to reveal a delicate ring—platinum, simple, beautiful. Then she opened the next: a gold one with small red stones. The third, silver with a twisting band that looked handmade.
“I’ve been saving,” she said quietly. “Every late night, every client call, every weekend I didn’t spend with you—it’s all been for this. I’ve been trying to find the perfect ring for you. But I couldn’t decide. I bought one, then another, then another, second-guessing what you’d truly love. I was going to surprise you.”
Your lips trembled.
“You… you were planning to propose?”
Wanda smiled softly, eyes glassy.
“I am planning to propose."
She slipped one of the rings from its box and held it out—not to place on your finger just yet, but to show you, to share the moment. Her other hand rose to cup your face again, pulling you into her.
The kiss that followed wasn’t desperate or rushed—it was slow, trembling, real. The kind that tasted of apology and promise.
When you finally pulled back, both of you were smiling through the remnants of tears.
“You really thought I’d ever do better without you?” Wanda whispered against your temple. "The only reason why I've been cooped up in this god forsaken hell is because of you. You've motivated me, pushed me to work so hard to afford something forever with you. The last thing on my mind is leaving you, and I am so deeply sorry that it's ever reached a moment you've had to think that."
Your breath hitched, her words sinking in so fast it almost hurt. The tension that had been strangling your chest began to crumble, leaving you standing there with shaking hands and glassy eyes.
Her thumb brushed another tear from your cheek before she pressed a soft kiss to the spot it had been. You couldn’t bring yourself to meet her gaze just yet—you were too afraid you’d fall apart completely if you did.
“Wanda…” you breathed, voice barely there.
She hummed in response, arms tightening around your waist as if she could hold the guilt right out of you.
“I should’ve told you sooner,” she murmured. “About the late nights, the meetings, all of it. I wanted it to be a surprise. I wanted it to be perfect.”
You finally looked up at her, eyes flicking between hers, searching for the truth you’d missed this whole time. She smiled faintly through the exhaustion, then reached past you toward the drawer she’d left open earlier.
From inside, she pulled out the small velvet boxes again, this time opening one to reveal a simple, elegant band—your style to the last detail.
“I kept changing my mind,” she said softly. “Every design felt wrong. Too plain, too much, too little… nothing felt like you. So I kept working. Kept saving. Until I could get it right.”
You stared at it, chest aching, heart twisting in every direction at once.
“You’ve been doing all of this… for us,” you said quietly, guilt heavy in your throat.
“For you,” she corrected, cupping your jaw. “For the life I want with you.”
That broke whatever composure you had left. You let out a small, uneven sob, and she pulled you against her again—warm, solid, and real. The kind of hug that said you’re safe now.
Her lips brushed the top of your head.
“You’re my reason, detka. Not my distraction.”

Wanda Maximoff x Pregnant!Fem!Reader
[A/N] Happy Saturday everyone! Does anyone have any fun plans? Tonight is quiz night so me and the bestie are going to get into the quiz mindset 👀 Since we're a team of two we've never won but we don't always come last which is better than nothing! 😂 This request was literally so cute, hope you all enjoy, thank you for the request my lovely! ❤️
Why did Pepper have to be pregnant at the same time as you? You nearly throw up at the sight of her when she turns up the Avengers compound for a visit – about six months pregnant, same as you. That was the only similarity. Pepper was positively glowing whilst you felt like a beached whale. Wanda insists that you look beautiful which only makes you feel worse. Every word that comes out of Pepper’s mouth makes you murderous.
“I haven’t had any morning sickness, it’s crazy,” She says, running one hand over her round stomach. “It’s been a dream to be honest.”
Well if she’s having a dream pregnancy, you must be having a nightmare one. You’d had morning sickness from the get go and had been reassured that it would probably disappear after your first trimester. It hadn’t. Literally anything could make you feel nauseous, and you were still being sick most mornings. Your feet and ankles are so swollen and you’re tired, pretty much all the time, but when you get into bed you’re so uncomfortable that you can’t get to sleep.
“You should’ve carried the baby!” You whine that night as Wanda patiently rubs your feet. “Why did it have to be me?”
“You wanted to my love.”
“Well I take it back, put the baby in your womb instead.”
“You only have three months left, and it’ll be worth it when you’re holding our precious baby in your arms,” Wanda says, continuing to rub your sore feet. “I love you so much.”
You and Wanda had been dating for five years now, and last year you’d both decided that you wanted a baby. Both of you were interested in adopting one day, especially since you yourself had been adopted as a child, but you also wanted your own baby. After long discussions you’d decided to go with an anonymous sperm donor and you both agreed that you would carry the baby. Partly because no one was sure how Wanda’s pregnancy would progress and how it would affect the baby to be carried by an enhanced individual, but also you’d wanted to be pregnant. You wanted to carry your baby, to feel that bond before they were even out in the world.
It was hard though. Pregnancy affected every woman differently and for you, it was like you’d been hit by a truck. Luckily, Wanda had been your rock. Every morning she was by your side, holding your hair back and rubbing her hand up and down your back. If you needed anything, she’d fetch it for you. You only had to ask and she’d rub your shoulders, your back, your feet, anything that you wanted. Once Tony had caught Wanda dabbing your forehead with a damp cloth because you’d complained you were too hot and he’d laughed, “Pepper never asks me to do anything like that for her.”
“Then you’re a shit husband,” Wanda had shot back. “Y/N’s carrying our child; I’d do anything she wanted to make her a bit more comfortable. She doesn’t even need to ask, I just do it.”
That had shut him up.
Wanda bends down to kiss your cheek, “You do look beautiful. All puffy and red-faced.”
“Gee, thanks.”
She grins, kissing you properly this time, “I’m serious, I think you look adorable.”
Wanda’s love for you had been always been one thing you could count on ever since you got together. When you’d joined the Avengers Wanda hadn’t been shy about the fact she was interested in you, even though she wasn’t sure if you liked girls at first. In training Wanda never missed an opportunity to flirt with you. You’d felt the same way and eventually Wanda had asked you on a proper date. Every single day Wanda would come find you, giving you plenty of hugs and kisses. Which were very much appreciated at the minute given how lousy you were feeling.
The next morning you wake up and find Wanda gone. That’s not like her and you frown as you crawl out of bed, feeling the usual wave of nausea that’s plagued you every single morning for the past five months. You hate throwing up so you can’t help shedding a few tears as you crouch awkwardly over the toilet, wishing that Wanda was here to soothe you like she normally does. Where has she gone?
You feel so lousy that you climb back into bed, too exhausted to find the energy to try and dress yourself. Wanda had insisted on buying you loads of maternity clothes, telling you with every outfit just how beautiful you looked even though you were sure she was full of shit. That was Wanda though, always telling you that you looked pretty even if you didn’t, always taking care of you… Except this morning, when she’d randomly disappeared.
After an hour of feeling sorry for yourself you begin to feel even worse when you realise Wanda’s still not back yet, and you have no idea where she’s gone. You climb out of bed and pull on your dressing gown over your maternity nightgown – it doesn’t do up anymore but never mind, you really can’t be bothered to get dressed, not without Wanda here to help. It takes a while but you manage to get your slippers on then waddle out into the compound, going in search of Wanda.
It’s not like you and Wanda have been joint at the hip for the past six months – you are capable of taking care of yourself, and you have done while she’s been at work. Waking up and finding her not there though has thrown you, as she always gives you a kiss before going to training, no matter how yucky you feel when you wake up. Your first point of call is the kitchen but she’s not in there. She’s not in the gym either, and none of the meeting rooms are booked in her name.
Eventually you find her in the living room and you pause in the doorway as you see her laughing on the couch with Natasha. The sight of your girlfriend laughing with someone else makes your heart plummet and your eyes immediately prickle with tears. Especially since Natasha is so beautiful – she always looks so put together no matter how difficult a mission has been. You’ve never felt insecure next to her before but given how gross you feel now that you’re pregnant; it’s like looking at the sun and the moon. Or the sun and a garbage can.
When Wanda notices you she immediately jumps up from the couch which only makes you feel worse. She stood up so quick – did she not want you to see her with Natasha? Why had she gotten out of bed so early and left you all alone?
“Hey baby,” Wanda greets, kissing your cheek. “How are you feeling?”
“Where were you?”
“This morning? Oh… Just decided to get some early training in.”
“Didn’t look like you were training.”
Wanda laughs at your sulky tone which doesn’t help your mood. She wraps her arms around you and kisses your cheek, “I was just taking a break-”
“It doesn’t look like you’ve been training at all actually. I needed you.”
Wanda looks surprised by your irritated tone and she takes a step back, holding her hands up defensively, “Wow, okay. I just… Figured you could use a bit more sleep. I didn’t realise you’d woken up, sorry.”
“You should’ve been there, not getting cozy with Nat.”
Wanda raises her eye-brows, “Getting cozy? We were just talking, I- Y/N, you’re overreacting.”
“I needed you there to help me, I’m carrying our baby in case you forgot-”
“Of course I didn’t, jeez, I just- I was having five minutes with Nat, she’s our friend, what’s your problem?”
“You think she’s prettier than me.”
“What?”
“You didn’t deny it; you think Natasha is prettier than me.” You burst into tears, wrapping your arms around yourself.
Instead of moving to comfort you, Wanda groans and rolls her eyes, “I didn’t- I never said that. Why are you acting like this?”
“You don’t love me anymore.”
“Oh my- I can’t deal with you right now. I mean, I’ve been doing everything for you, what more do you want? You’re acting pathetic. Get a grip Y/N, I’m allowed to have friends.”
Wanda stalks out of the room and you head back to the bedroom you share with Wanda, sobbing loudly the entire way there. Last night you’d barely slept, your feet still hurt, and you just feel disgusting. Seeing Pepper yesterday hadn’t helped at all. Why did she still look so beautiful? Was this a bad omen? If pregnancy didn’t agree with you then did that mean you were destined to be a bad Mom?
You climb into the bed and cry harder as you think about Wanda. Has she grown sick of you? You wouldn’t blame her if she had; you knew you weren’t as fun as you used to be. Every day was so difficult, consumed by sickness, exhaustion, mood swings, aches and pains. You and Wanda have always been friends with Natasha but you can’t help replaying that moment when you’d caught them giggling together on the couch. When was the last time that Wanda had giggled with you like that? Why had she lied about where she was that morning?
Maybe she’s planning on leaving you. And where would that leave you? Getting back into work as an Avenger is going to be difficult enough with a baby, let alone if you have to raise them by yourself. But more to the point, you want Wanda around because you love her. There will never be anyone that you love as much as Wanda.
Fifteen minutes later you’re still crying loudly, probably looking uglier than ever when the door opens and the bed dips as Wanda sits down next to you, “Hey, hey… I’m sorry for snapping at you. Please don’t cry my love.”
“I don’t wanna raise the baby alone!”
Wanda strokes her fingers through your hair, “Now why would you be raising our baby alone?”
“Because you’re going to leave me for Natasha.”
“Right… And why would I do that?”
“Because she’s prettier and more fun than me.”
Wanda bends down to kiss your forehead and then gently wipes at the tears on your cheeks, “No baby, she’s not. You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever met, and I’ve never had as much fun with anyone else as I have with you.”
“You weren’t here when I woke up!”
“I know, I’m sorry. I wanted to surprise you.”
Wanda helps you sit up, wiping a final tear from your cheek as she shows you the box of cupcakes she’d bought, “I woke up early to go to that bakery we love. You said you were craving the strawberry cupcakes and I wanted to get there as soon as they opened in case they sold out. I was going to give them to you after dinner later. I didn’t mean to get caught up with Natasha, I just felt like I hadn’t seen her for ages and I got carried away.”
“That’s my fault,” You sniffle. “You’ve been too busy taking care of me.”
“Taking care of my very pregnant, very emotional girlfriend. But no, I should’ve made more of an effort to keep up with her; it’s not your fault.” Wanda sits behind you, letting you lean back against her chest as she gathers you into her arms, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “I’m sorry I snapped at you, I didn’t mean to. I just got defensive because…”
You sniffle as Wanda thinks about what she wants to say. “I love you so much,” She eventually says. “And I didn’t appreciate the implication that I’d leave you just because you’re not… What did you even say? That you’re not ‘fun’?”
“Well, I’m not,” You mumble. “Pepper was practically glowing and she’s still working at the minute. I can barely get out of bed, I’m just so tired-”
“You’re doing all that for our precious baby,” Wanda says, kissing your forehead. “I love you so much, especially right now. You’re carrying our baby and I think that’s incredible, I don’t think you’re ugly or any other horrible thing you say about yourself. I could never leave you.”
“Maybe… Maybe I overreacted.”
“You were just worried ‘cos you woke up alone. And your hormones are all over the place, I should’ve been more understanding.”
“No, you’re doing amazing Wands; I’m not surprised you lost your patience. In fact, I’m surprised you didn’t lose it sooner.” You nuzzle into her chest. “You really have done everything for me, I didn’t mean to be so…”
Wanda kisses the top of your head, “I love helping you. I love you and we’re both going to love this baby so much.”
You let Wanda rock you gently in your arms, and you finally relax a little bit. “Can I have one of those cupcakes then?”
Wanda laughs, “Yeah baby, of course. I bought them for you.”
That bakery was one of the first places you and Wanda had found on one of your first dates. Their cupcakes were super popular but you’d managed to get the last strawberry cupcake, and had fallen in love with them. You’d almost forgotten that yesterday you’d mentioned having a craving for them. It was only a throwaway comment but Wanda had clearly been listening which instantly makes you feel a lot better. Of course she’s not going to leave you. Not your Wanda – she loves you. Even when you’re a huge, hormonal mess – Wanda still thinks you’re beautiful.
As get-togethers often go, they’re followed up at the end of the night with the traditional, “It was so nice to see you, let’s do this again soon.”
What was nice about it was that this time it was actually followed through. That’s why you’re here at Hayley’s, a dive bar not too far from the center of the city. The multicolored lights and worn-out furniture make you feel more at home than you maybe should.
You nurse a seltzer, head resting against the wall behind you as you watch the basketball playing on one of the televisions against the wall. Your girlfriend didn’t come this time, a time reserved for just your group of friends.
Part of you was relieved she wasn’t here, but another part of you wished you weren’t alone and tipsy.
The camaraderie is easy-going, something you’re happy to finally have back after busy months. You joke with your friends, share shots, and play card games in the back booth of the dive.
You’re mid-story when, out of the corner of your eye, a glass is placed to your right. With a smirk on her face, she plants herself right next to you. No words are said right away, just Wanda silently inserting herself into your conversation.
After a beat of silence, “What, she let you out for once?”
She raises her drink to take a sip, eyeing you over the rim of her glass. fighting an eyeroll, you sit back and watch as a drop falls down her chin. Of course, she sees your eyes follow the drop, and of course, you watch as her thumb wipes it off.
“I’m not on a leash, you know,” the response comes out nicer than you expected it to. voice too light for someone talking to their ex of two years, too familiar.
“She texts you enough for someone who doesn’t own you.”
Her voice is light as she says it, and if you didn’t know her, you’d brush it off. But you do know Wanda, too well, and the way her eyes don’t leave your face tells you she means it.
The two of you stay quiet for a while, her knee touching your own in its familiar way. Neither of you pays too much mind to the contact, too engrossed in the group conversation that you even realize your bodies have gravitated towards each other.
Her gaze drifts lazily over the friends around you two before eventually landing on your wrist. her eyes fixate for long enough for you to know what she’s looking at.
“Does she know that’s my bracelet you’re wearing?” she nods to your wrist, a ghost of a smirk on her lips. She knows the answer already, only wants to know how you’ll respond, “What, you told her it’s your mom’s birthstone?”
You bite your tongue, trying your best to ignore the smug way she said it. Instead, you force a smile, “Does your girlfriend know you’re questioning other girls about their jewelry?”
“And does yours know you still wear expensive jewelry gifted to you by your ex-girlfriend?”
Again, you’re at a loss for words, and Wanda knows it, “you gave it to me.”
It’s the best you can come up with. Inwardly, you berate yourself for saying something too much. They came out easier than you expected, too honest and quick.
“Three birthdays ago.”
Wanda knows she has a point, and she especially knows you’re not going to make a move to stop her accusations. Her grin widens immediately when you don’t answer immediately. There it is, the hesitation she was looking for.
“Don’t mean anything by it,” you know she does, “just thought she would’ve replaced it by now.”
You turn your body toward her, shoulder against hers, “thought what’s her face would’ve shown you by now that not everything needs to be replaced.”
Wanda’s grin twitches for just a fraction of a second. You got her with that; even she knows it. She drops the banter for a second and stays quiet, only allowing herself to enjoy your presence for a few moments longer.
Still, something warm flickers behind Wanda’s eyes as she memorizes the way the charm rests easily on your skin. satisfaction, not that you’d kept the gift, but because she caught you.
The few minutes of quiet you spent doing the same. Her presence brought a bittersweet sense of familiarity, one you shouldn’t have the privilege of feeling at the moment. Her cedar perfume only transports you back in time to the years you spent with her.
“Does she know you don’t even like sports?” Wanda asks suddenly, turning to you. Her lips curve as you scoff, acting offended, “Don’t even lie. You used to say it was unnecessary. You’re just making yourself look busy.”
Ignoring her is the only thing that you can think of doing. You try your best to avoid her, but the fact that you can feel her eyes watching you every few minutes has a heat rising in your chest that should not be welcomed.
You two pay attention to the card game that is going on at the table. For once, neither of you has a remark to make about the other. Instead, the noise of the bar fills the space between you two. Her shoulder remains against your own, but you refuse to create space.
Wanda excuses herself from the table with a muttered excuse of needing a new drink. You try to ignore the way you’d gotten used to her presence by your side after so long of not having it. You even think you slightly miss the way she casually brushes your thigh when she reaches for her phone.
“Be right back,” you say quietly to your friends, who really aren’t paying attention to you two. As if time and a girlfriend couldn’t stop you, you find your way following the taller woman to the end of the bar.
As if she knew you’d follow her, Wanda saved a space right next to her for you to fit perfectly into. She watches how you search your brain for an excuse as to why you trailed after her like a dog to a bone.
“It’s cute that you still follow me around, you know?” The smugness in her voice makes you want to hit her arm, but you refuse to do anything you used to while you were in a relationship.
“You’re not special.” Your voice doesn’t sound secure enough when you say it, maybe because it’s a lie, and you’re jealous.
She smiles at that, almost like she thinks it's a joke. It could be a joke, or it could be a way for you to pry at her thoughts. A brown drink is placed in front of her, and you can’t help but watch her hands as she reaches for it.
“Probably.”
You can practically feel the way your heart stuttered hearing the word, a heat rushing to your cheeks as you slowly pull toward her a bit more. The corner of your mouth twitches slightly before you can even notice it.
“Aw,” she coos mockingly, “you like that I could be jealous, don’t you?”
Wanda watches you from over the rim of her glass, index finger tapping against the cup. She leans against the bar, a few inches from being able to touch you, and you can’t help but watch the way her throat moves as she takes a sip of her drink.
It's pathetic, and you know it, to be with her like this when you know you both have someone else.
She’s the first to break the tension. She clears her throat and cuts eye contact, taking a small step back from you.
“For what it’s worth,” she takes in a deep breath, “I want it to be her.”
Your face mirrors that of quiet confusion, egging her to go on, “I want you to be happy with her, for this to be it, so you don’t ensure pain anymore. think that if you really love her, maybe I’ll stop…”
Her voice trails off toward the end, you almost reach out for her and beg her to finish her sentence. Instead, you settle for two words.
“Stop what?” Your voice sounds like it’s on the verge of begging, and it very well may be.
“Looking for you first,” Wanda’s eyes meet yours, a sad smile that slowly breaks your heart all over again. The breakup was never messy, and neither of you was completely at fault, so maybe that’s why it makes this even harder.
“When something good happens, when I want to tell you news, even when I have a bad day,” her smile is small, and her eyes are sad around the edges, “I hope you figure it out though.”
The sincerity in her voice brings in waves of anger, as if she’d decided once and for all that you two were not to be in each other's lives. It only angered you enough to voice it.
“You and your blonde don’t exactly scream soulmates.” You don’t know why you said it, you just know that it was on the tip of your tongue.
Wanda barks out a surprised laugh, eyes squinting and nose scrunching in the way you can’t stop loving, “There she is. Are you jealous?”
You scoff and roll your eyes. Once again, ignoring her is the only way you can preserve some sort of dignity. Wanda doesn’t need a response; she knows all of you.
“For the record, you don’t look so in love either.”
Summary: You set out to rescue your mother and punish Wanda Maximoff, but the closer you get, the more control slips from your hands. I mean did you really think you'd be any match for the Scarlet Witch?

AO3 | Masterlist
The boundary of Westview glows faintly against the night sky, a strange shimmer that ripples like moonlight on the ocean. You’ve walked countless roads chasing whispers, pored over scraps of forbidden pages, clawed at every lead the Darkhold refused to yield. And now, after years of searching, you stand at the edge of discovery.
Your pulse hammers as you press forward. The town itself is whole, ordinary, almost unsettling in its perfection. Children ride their bikes along neat streets, neighbours chat across white-picket fences, porch lights flick on as dusk deepens. It looks normal. But beneath the veneer, you can still feel the faint hum of magic.
And then, there she is.
Your mother.
Agatha sits at a porch table with her hands folded in her lap, dressed in a cardigan that isn’t hers and a neighbourly smile stretched across her face. The sight catches in your chest. She’s never looked like this. Your mother was sharp-edged and knowing, a storm in human form; never soft, never prim, and never the type to play house.
“Mom!” The word tears out of you before you can stop it. Your steps quicken, stumbling toward her. “Mama! Oh my god, I’ve found you. I’ve finally found you.”
Agatha looks up, startled. But there’s no recognition in her eyes, only polite confusion. “Oh! Well, hello there dear. I think you have me confused with someone else but what a pleasure it is to meet you.” Her smile widens, pleasant and fixed. “I’m Agnes O’Connor. Are you new to the neighbourhood?”
The name hits you like a slap. You shake your head, “No. No, no, no. You’re not Agnes. You’re my mom, your name is Agatha Harkness. Mami—I mean Rio—and I have been looking for you for so long.” Your voice cracks, but you manage to push the words out.
She only tilts her head, that saccharine smile unwavering. “Agatha? Oh, goodness no, you must be mistaken. But you look tired, sugar. Why don’t you come inside for a nice cup of tea? I make a mean chamomile.”
Her tone is light, so perfectly not her that it makes your stomach twist. You study her face, willing the truth to surface, but her eyes are empty. Her gestures too smooth, her voice too sweet, her movements no longer her own. She isn’t acting. She actually believes what she’s saying.
The realisation guts you. You had nightmares of finding her broken, scarred, furious even, but never this. Not this hollow parody, this marionette smiling on strings.
Rage bubbles up, bitter and sharp, spilling out of you in a whisper: “She did this to you.” Your fists clench until your nails bite your palms. Louder now, chest heaving: “She didthis.”
The porch, the street, the entire picture-perfect lie blurs at the edges as your vision burns with fury. You stumble back from the your mom, every breath jagged, and there’s only one thought left, pounding in your skull like a war drum.
If you can’t break the spell, then you’ll break the woman who cast it.
—
Rio Vidal doesn’t look pleased when you arrive at her door. Her sharp eyes cut into you like glass, taking in your ragged breath, the crackling static of magic still prickling across your skin. Her expression softens then reaches out, brushing your temple with her fingers before pressing a fleeting kiss to the top of your head. It’s instinctive, protective, the kind of gesture that betrays how much of her heart belongs to you and to the woman you’ve both lost.
Then, just as quickly, the softness vanishes. She straightens, jaw tight, shoulders squared, armour back in place.
“You found her, didn’t you?” she says flatly.
“She’s trapped,” you snap, shoving past her. “Caged like some pet. Mami, that bitch did this, I know it. And you—” your voice shakes, “you’re going to help me find her.”
Rio’s silence lingers long enough to sting. Then she laughs once, low and mirthless. “You are your mother’s child. Hot-headed and reckless. Do you have any idea who you’re asking me to lead you to?”
Your eyes flare. “I don’t care what it takes. She took Mom. She doesn’t get to walk away from that.”
The air between you hums with tension. Rio studies you, sees the grief and fury tearing you apart, and though she doesn’t soften again, you catch the flicker of something in her gaze. Pain. Love. A shared rage.
She only points, her voice sharp as a blade. “Then follow it to the source.”
—
You don’t wait. You don’t hesitate. You go and find the Scarlet Witch.
Her figure stands at the edge of a shattered field, red wisps coiling lazily around her hands as if the universe bends for her amusement. She doesn’t look startled. She only watches you approach, expression unreadable.
Your fury erupts before she can speak. Bolts of purple energy crackle from your fingertips, slamming into the ground at her feet. The ground quakes, the air scorches, the night tears itself open under your rage.
“Give her back!” you roar, magic spiralling from your fists. You hurl spell after spell, each one wilder than the last.
Wanda raises a single hand. Scarlet threads weave into a shield, effortlessly fluid. Every blow you launch shatters against her, a storm striking stone. Her gaze doesn’t even flicker.
She steps forward. One measured pace.
“You’re loud,” she says, voice soft but cutting, “but messy.”
You scream and strike again, raw power tearing the ground between you.
Another step and more red light hums at her fingertips. “Your mother taught you better than this, didn’t she?”
The taunt cuts deep making you lash out with both hands, purple fire bursting from your palms, only to be dissolved in her red glow.
Another step. She’s close enough now that you can see the curve of her mouth—it’s almost like she’s enjoying herself. “Is this what you call revenge? Throwing sparks until you burn yourself out?”
Her words dig under your skin. You pour everything into one final strike, a beam of energy so fierce it splits the air with a scream. She catches it in her palm, twists her wrist, and the spell unravels like thread.
With a flick of her fingers, she binds you. Crimson coils snap around your wrists and ankles, suspending you in the air like a fly caught in a web. You thrash, magic surging, but then it falters, and you spot the runes glowing faintly on the ground beneath you.
Wanda steps closer, eyes glinting with amusement. “It’s cute,” she says softly, “watching you try and fight. But this isn’t how good girls behave.”
“I hate you,” you spit, though your voice trembles.
Her smirk deepens as she tilts her head, closing the distance until her breath grazes your lips. “Hate me all you want. It doesn’t change what you are: weak”
You twist against the bindings, chest heaving. “Fuck you bitch.”
Scarlet light curls under your chin, forcing your gaze up to hers. “Ungrateful brat,” she says, her tone more indulgent than furious, almost as if your resistance entertains her. “I could offer you purpose. But it seems you’d rather throw a tantrum.”
The words sting and before you can try and break free from her restraints the world shatters; the field dissolves and in the blink of an eye you’re slammed against sheets. The bindings tighten as you sink into the mattress, her presence looming above you.
Your lungs claw for air.
Her lips drag along your jaw, teeth scraping at the curve of your neck. Heat sparks down your spine. You try to twist away defiantly, but the involuntary moan that shudders through the silence betrays you. Shame and desire tangle viciously in your chest.
Her hand slides across your waist, thumb pressing into your hip as if marking her territory. “See?” she whispers against your skin, her voice silk wrapped around steel. “You can’t deny me.”
For a heartbeat, you almost spit back another denial. But the heat pooling in your stomach stops you. The press of her body, the weight of her gaze, the intoxicating pull of her magic—part of you recoils, but another part, deep down, aches for it. Maybe you’ve wanted this all along, buried under your rage. Maybe you want her.
The thought crashes through you just as her mouth claims yours. The kiss is all teeth and heat, lips colliding with bruising insistence. You match her passion, refusing to yield, until your teeth sink down hard enough to draw a sharp gasp from her.
Scarlet light explodes instantly. Bonds lash tighter, forcing your body flat against the bed, chest pinned beneath invisible hands. Her eyes burn with dark promise as her magic coils around your clothes, leaving your skin bare against the chill of the room.
In a blink, she stands naked above you, a goddess draped in power. She tilts her head, looking over you with slow, deliberate possession, savouring every inch.
“You want to fight?” Wanda’s voice is a threat. “Then you’ll learn what happens to brats who bite.”
Her hand presses down against your throat, red threads binding you tighter than ever. With a flick of her fingers, another coil of magic slips up, curling over your mouth, gagging you in an instant.
It hums with a low vibration against your skin, thrumming every time you breathe. You fight it, a muffled sound escaping, but she only smirks and leans close enough that her breath ghosts hot against your ear.
“That’ll shut you up,” she says. “Can’t have my little brat telling lies trying to tell me she doesn’t want this.” Her tone roughens, and the knowing curl of her smile tells you she’s enjoying the way you strain beneath her.
You should hate it, hate her. I mean you certainly did a couple of hours ago. But the second the gag vibrates with the sound of your ragged breathing, a shiver slides down your spine, arousal searing your own body as heat coils low inside you.
Wanda kisses you through the gag once, a mocking press of lips, then begins her descent. Her mouth traces the sharp edge of your jaw. She takes her time at your throat, tongue teasing the frantic rhythm of your heartbeat, teeth scraping where your skin is most tender. A sound bursts from you, swallowed by the gag, and Wanda chuckles against your collarbone.
One hand slides over your breast, fingers teasing the sensitive flesh while her mouth follows the same path, nipping and tracing circles around your nipples. The dual sensation leaves you gasping, chest rising and falling against her.
The air feels too thin; every nerve tuned to her touch. She kisses down your stomach, the flick of her tongue circling your navel before moving further. At your hip she pauses, her breath feathering over you, and the way she holds herself there makes you tremble.
Her path drifts to your thigh, lips brushing the skin above your knee, a light scrape of teeth makes you buck against the bonds. Then she shifts back upward, each kiss inside your thigh slower than the last. The closer she gets, the harder you strain against her magic, every part of you desperate and aching.
Finally, she stops just above the apex of your thighs. Her mouth hovers for a heartbeat and then sticks out her tongue dragging it through your cunt.
The sensation rips through you. Heat surges, your body jerking despite the magical bindings that hold you flat to the bed. A muffled cry tears from your throat, your hips twitching toward her without thought, betraying how badly you crave more.
Wanda’s laugh is soft and wicked, lips brushing sensitive skin as she looks up at you. Her tongue parts your lips again, slower this time, making you quiver. Every nerve screams, every inch of you strung tight between shame and hunger.
Her tongue continues to switch between circling your clit and pushing into your seeping hole. The heat of her mouth is unbearable, every flick of her tongue a shockwave that races up your spine and makes your stomach clench.
You buck against the bonds, gag muffling the desperate sound torn from your throat. She only holds you firmer, one hand pressing into your thigh, keeping you wide for her, keeping you trapped.
Her pace is wickedly precise. Every stroke of her tongue pulls another gasp from your chest, another quiver from your legs, until the world narrows to nothing but the heat of her mouth and the crackling magic searing your skin. Your vision blurs, tears prickling at the corners of your eyes from the force of it.
And then it’s all too much for you. The pressure explodes all at once, your body convulsing as waves of your orgasm crash through you, shudder after shudder wracking your frame. You whimper, hips jerking helplessly as you’re stripped bare of control.
When the tremors finally ease, you collapse into the mattress, chest heaving. The gag dissolves, threads unwinding with a snap of her fingers. Wanda lifts her head, lips glistening and eyes blazing with triumph.
“Open your mouth,” she orders. “Tongue out.”
You obey before you can think, lips parting, tongue trembling as you open as wide as you can. Wanda dives between your thighs once more lapping at the mess there before moving up your body. The sight alone makes your cheeks burn with shame. She doesn’t stop until she’s hovering above you. She squeezes your jaw, forcing it wider, before she lets the mixture of cum and spit drip onto your tongue.
Her eyes burn into yours as she commands, “Swallow.”
You obey, throat working around the taste, heat flooding your cheeks. Wanda watches every movement with hungry satisfaction, then crushes her mouth against yours. Her tongue drives deep, shoving the taste further down, forcing you to savour it until your head spins. When you gasp against her mouth she bites down. The smirk that follows is merciless.
“You think you get to bite me and walk away unscathed?” she says, her breath hot against your lips. “No, darling. You’re mine to break.”
Her hand catches your jaw, fingers pressing into your cheeks until your mouth opens for her again. She shoves three fingers past your lips, down against your tongue, forcing you to taste the sharp tang of her power still crackling over her skin. Her eyes glint as you gag softly around the intrusion, and she presses deeper, “suck.”
Your pride flares for a moment, but the lingering bliss of your climax that pulse between your legs betrays you. The taste of her fingers and the weight of her gaze leave your body trembling, your moan muffled around her hand. She chuckles darkly, pulling her slickened fingers free only to trail them down your throat, leaving a faint glisten in their wake.
Then she moves her body, sliding down, hips slotting lower until the heat of her pussy presses into yours. The shock of skin meeting skin makes you cry out, head tipping back into the pillows. Wanda wastes no time. She grinds against you, movements sharp, her clit bumping yours with every roll of her hips sending sparks tearing through your veins.
One hand clamps around your jaw, holding you still. Then she slides her fingers between your lips again, shoving them deep until your mouth stretches around her. She doesn’t relent, pressing her fingers against your tongue before pulling them out, wet and shining, only to push them back in.
Her other hand roams across your chest to play with your nipples, squeezing and twisting until your breath stutters. The roughness of her touch is unbearable, the contrast of pleasure and pain making your back arch against the mattress, bonds crackling tighter when you try to resist.
The magical restraints cinch harder with each thrust, stretching you open, forcing your body to take everything. Wanda’s breath comes ragged now, her hair tumbling loose around her face, strands clinging to damp skin. Her eyes never leave yours, burning with feverish intensity as she drives herself against you. She shifts her angle, grinding harder, faster, each drag more devastating than the last until the friction blurs into a dizzying fire that consumes you whole.
Every nerve is aflame. Every sound that leaves your throat is swallowed by the grin curving her lips, satisfaction gleaming in her eyes as she watches you writhe. Her hand finds your jaw again, thumb smearing over your lips before pushing into your mouth, silencing your cries as her hips drive against yours.
“Good girl,” she growls, voice rough with arousal. “Cry for me properly.”
Her hips grind harder, faster, the sharp drag of her body against yours building a rhythm that tears the breath from your lungs. Each stroke is punishing, her strength bearing down until you can’t move, can’t think, can only feel the wildfire she sets alight inside you.
Her thumb stays shoved in your mouth, silencing you, forcing every moan to vibrate through her hand. Saliva slicks your lips, drips down your chin, and still she pushes, her eyes drinking in your wrecked state with feral hunger. The smirk on her face tells you she’s savouring every second of your undoing.
Wanda lowers her head to your ear, her breath hot and ragged. “Do you feel that?” Her voice fractures into a moan as her hips slam harder against yours. “That’s mine. You’re mine.”
The words push you over. The dam bursts, ecstasy ripping through your body in violent waves, your muffled cry is raw against her hand. You shudder helplessly beneath her, bonds holding you wide while every pulse of pleasure rips through you like fire in your veins.
Wanda’s rhythm falters, grows more frantic. Her free hand clutches your hip with bruising force as she drives herself against you, chasing the same edge she’s dragged you over. Her head tips back, a guttural sound spilling from her lips as her own climax crashes into her. Her body jerks, grinds through the release, leaving you both gasping and tangled in sweet ecstasy.
The magic loosens, threads unravelling until only faint sparks remain, brushing over your skin like fading embers. Wanda finally pulls her fingers from your mouth, trailing them across your cheek before bringing them to her lips and sucking them clean with a moan. Her eyes meet yours, dark and satisfied, her smirk returning as she shifts her hips just enough to keep you aching beneath her.
“You’ll soon learn, honey,” she whispers, still breathless. “Every time you fight me, I’ll break you all over again.”

“Iryna’s Cafe and Pastries. Is this the place?” You huff as you look up at the sign above you.
”Yup. You remember my order, right?” Your friend Yelena asks through the phone, which in turn causes you to roll your eyes and hum unenthusiastically.
”Hey, watch your tone, idiot,” she says so sternly that you can imagine her pointing a finger at you, “you owe me after making me work overtime to help you. The least you could do is buy me some breakfast and coffee to get me through the day. Plus, it might be time for you to try new things, seeing you eat meal-prepped chicken and vegetables for a week and a half makes me sad.”
You grumble in response like a petulant child, even though she’s right. It was rare for you to try something new, with the reason that it might ruin your routine that always helped you function normally. You could say that your routine isn’t broken, so there’s no need to fix it, but you know that you’re lying to yourself.
Lately, it’s making you feel like a machine, going through the motions every time you wake up and fall asleep on the same bed. And now that the universe — specifically a blonde woman starving for a cinnamon roll and black coffee — is giving you the opportunity to change up your routine, you decide that you shouldn’t miss your chance to feel more alive than the last few weeks.
”You still haven’t answered me, you know,” Yelena pipes up after a few seconds of silence from your part. “I want three cinnamon rolls and a black coffee, you understand? Three cinn—”
”Glutton,” you interrupt before hanging up the phone.
Taking a few steps towards the door and pushing it, your eyes are met with a small yet cozy-looking shop. The rising sun casts a golden glow through each window and hits every nook and cranny, lulling you to a sense of comfort, comfort that makes you forget about your anxieties from ruining your routine the moment you stepped foot into this establishment. Once the door chime stopped ringing, your ears catch the faint hum of pop music that you’ve heard a million times from the speakers, causing you to absentmindedly hum along the lyrics as you look at the menu.
”Good morning, can I take your order?” A soft yet slightly raspy feminine voice on the other side of the counter asks. As your eyes drift back down to meet the cashier’s eyes, you’re met with a woman having soft and captivating green eyes. As you voice out the orders that you have for yourself and Yelena, you inadvertently take a glance at the tag pinned on her chest: Iryna. It’s not everyday you see a business owner also working as a cashier.
It didn't take long for someone to call your order number, which meant you had to walk back to the counter while typing a message to your co-worker. The familiar aroma of Yelena's strong coffee compelled you to put your phone into your pocket, your eyes roaming the tray in front of you to check if everything’s in place.
“Is everything to your liking?”
A new voice with an accent similar to the cashier gracefully blesses your ears, which led you to flick your gaze up to a different set of emerald eyes, yet not less captivating than the first ones you saw. No, somehow those shades of green had enough power to turn you speechless, which made you look like an idiot in front of the brunette woman, who's still holding up a soft, welcoming smile.
God, she has such a nice smile. Those slightly crinkled eyes that twinkled under the café’s fluorescent lighting, those upturned lips that make you feel like a friend rather than just another customer, which are… slowly turning into a frown? What—
Oh god. You've been staring at her face like a creep.
You begin to stammer as embarrassment fills your entire system, nodding while you try to form a single sentence that at the very least consists of words like “yes” and “thank you”. But of course, you fail to do that, because while you were blabbering incomprehensible nonsense out of your lips, your hands were shakily grabbing the bag of pastries, which led to toppling yours and Yelena's drinks, spilling it all over the floor.
”Oh shit, I’m so sorry, I-I didn’t mean to, shit—”
“No, no, it’s okay, it’s okay, Piet will clean it up. Pietro!” The woman reassures you, her accent still prominent, especially when she yells out an unfamiliar name. A tall muscular man quickly rushes towards the two of you, however you didn’t have the time to register his face as you hear the cashier loudly click her tongue out of exasperation (which was obviously directed at your clumsy ass). Thus, out of instinct, you tightly grip the bag of pastries and scurry off, still blabbering apologies out of your lips as you left.
And now, as you walk through the town of Westview, you nervously accept the call that causes your phone to ring obnoxiously.
”Hey Yelena, remember our breakfast? I…” You pause for a few seconds to get your bearings straight.
“Iaccidentallyspilledourcoffeeinthecaféandgotsoembarrassedandleft—” You manage to jabber out in one breath, just to be met with silence on the other end of the line.
After another five seconds of silence, you decided to speak up. ”Hello? Lena—”
”I will strangle you the moment you clock in.”
It seemed like the universe pitied you so much that Yelena decided to spare your life after that incident, which is (thankfully) one less problem in your life. Your current problem, however, is trying to erase that embarrassing moment in your brain. Even the most insignificant things become greatly significant when it even barely relates to that specific incident. Just a few hours ago, the tiniest coffee stain on your co-worker’s collar immediately reminded you of your insanely stupendous gay panic four days ago.
However, as much as you wanted to forget how you ruined your reputation, you couldn't bear forgetting the only memory that included her, with those emerald eyes that captivated your very heart and soul. And now, here you were, standing in front of the same building that contains the coziest café you've entered (and the most gorgeous employee you've ever seen).
The same relaxing ambiance from the first time you entered welcomes you when you walk towards the line of customers, although it's completely and immediately overshadowed by how nervous you are to be facing the girl. To be honest, this was an impromptu visit, but your mind persuaded you so much to see her again to talk to her (and maybe even clean your reputation). As a result, your mind is now starting to go rampant with anxiety.
God, what if she makes fun of me when she remembers my face? That would be so embarrassing and would hurt my ego more. But maybe she won't remember me, since she probably serves a lot of people and she could care less if I came back or not. If that's the case, then I wasted my time and energy coming here! I swear to god, I hope that's not the case—
Your thoughts get interrupted once it was your turn to order. As you walk closer to the counter, the same cashier from before, Iryna, greets you with a modest smile. You then start to notice her face scrunching up to scowl at you the more you stare at each other. Great, she recognizes you.
“Can I help you?” Iryna asks with an arched brow, her sass emanating from her figure so intensely you swear you could feel it in your own skin. You try to quell your nervousness before speaking to the intimidating woman. “I um, yeah. Can I just get a small latte?” You manage to murmur while you tap your fingers against the counter.
“You sure you can trust yourself with handling drinks?” The woman’s derisive reply causes you to wince, it’s clear that she hasn’t forgiven you. However, instead of scurrying away like you always do, you get the strong surge of courage, your feet now planted firmly against the wooden floors of the café as you take a deep breath before responding.
“Miss Iryna, I— I wanted to apologize for the commotion I made that day. I’m sorry for making a mess in your café, I just got really… overwhelmed that moment that I got really clumsy. I understand how hard it is to keep a small business from getting chaotic, and I’m sure how stressful it is to deal with a disruptive customer.”
Once the words register in Iryna’s brain, her eyes snap back up at you, piercing through your soul as she scrutinizes your very being. “Oh, I’m not the one you should be apologizing to,” she replies, making your head tilt a bit out of confusion.
“You should be apologizing to my kids, since they did all the work only for you to waste them,” she reprimands, “my daughter, Wanda, meticulously brewed and blended those two cups of coffee with all her love and passion, only for you to throw it away onto the floor like it’s nothing! And then my son Pietro had to clean up the mess you made! Do you know how long it took for him to clean up for your sorry ass?” She spits out as she points at your apologetic form, your confidence quickly fading as you shrink to yourself in shame.
Before she could add more salt to your wound, a different voice butts into your conversation. “Ma, that’s enough! Don’t talk to our customers like that!” The same woman who turned you speechless that day, who you figured is Wanda, tells her mother in a hushed whisper. You awkwardly look away as she tries to calm her mother down, the two women muttering to each other for a good amount of time.
Once Wanda managed to calm Iryna down, despite a little bit of indignation coming from the other woman, she tilts her head up to look at you, her hand not leaving her mother's back. “I'm so sorry about my mother, she has a bit of a temper when people try to mess up her store,” Wanda explains, her alluring eyes holding an apologetic gaze.
“N-no, it's okay,” you stammer, still not used to be gazing at a woman who is most likely sent by the gods to bless and curse you, “I understand why she's mad, I shouldn't have made a mess, especially since you worked hard on making those drinks for me. I really am sorry for making a commotion in your very peaceful and cozy café, I'll be less clumsy next time.”
After your apology, Wanda parts her lips out of surprise, since she really didn't expect you to apologize to her. She then closes her mouth after a few seconds before lifting the corners of her lips to form a gentle smile, which is immediately making you almost lose your cool again. “Thank you, but it's all good, really. It's clear that you didn't mean to make a commotion. Plus, it was pretty funny to watch you floundering for whatever reason,” she giggles teasingly, causing your face to heat up out of embarrassment, “why did you get nervous?”
Just as always, you start to struggle finding a believable explanation. There's absolutely no way you're telling her that you got nervous by just gazing upon her beauty.
But before you can even think of a lie, a silver-haired man pokes his head from the kitchen to call out for her. “Sestra, get off your ass and help me with these orders!” The younger brunette rolls her eyes out of mild chagrin before bringing her gaze back to you, her friendly smile back in what seems like a millisecond. “A-anyway, I shouldn't keep you here at the cashier counter for so long. I’m sorry again for my mother's crankiness, I hope she didn't scare away a potential regular in our store,” she giggles as her nose scrunches up in delight, “I should get going, it was nice meeting you!”
Even when she finally turns around to leave, your eyes never stray from her figure, too starstruck by her beauty that you didn't notice Iryna glaring at you.
“I'd appreciate it if you finalize your order instead of ogling at my daughter,” the woman rasps, which effectively bring your eyes back to her face. “I um, I actually came here so that I could talk to her,” you mutter sheepishly, as to which Iryna raises her brow, intrigued. “Well, you already did, and now I don’t want you wasting my time and just finish your order.”
“I know, and— and I will, I just wanna— if it’s okay for you— to introduce myself to her,” you immediately stammer, not wanting to miss this opportunity of seeing the woman again, so much so that you didn’t realize how desperate you were starting to get. “Please?” You ask as your face forces a sweet smile, which didn’t help your case since all Iryna sees is a weird and awkward grimace.
Wanting to end this draining conversation as quick as possible, Iryna huffs before replying. “Well, she’s going away in a few days, so you shouldn’t get your hopes up. But fine, I’ll let you introduce yourself to her only on one condition: You have to buy something from our store every single day. Is that a deal?”
The proposition surprised you, which obviously made you ask: “What?” “Hey, if you’re coming into my establishment just to flirt with my daughter, you might as well buy something to keep our business up,” Iryna shrugs with a smirk on her face, as if daring you to even decline the offer that gets you what you really want. And with that smug look on her face, it made you finally think about what you were doing.
Should you really let this woman capitalize off of you and her daughter just for a few bucks? Are you gonna really let her, in some aspect, control what you will spend your money on, just to talk to a girl who you barely know and would probably reject you once you get to know her better?
The answer is yes.
To be fair, the food here is really good, and I get why Yelena really likes this place. Plus, I can just give the food I bought to her as some sort of apology for not getting her a coffee four mornings ago, so it’s not like it isn’t worth it, you justify in your head before looking back up at the woman with determination in your eyes.
”Deal.”
Your fingers tap against the table as you wait for your coffee, your mind telling you to not look around the café in hopes that you would find the brunette woman that’s been lingering in your mind for the past week. Just as you agreed on, you came into the store everyday to buy something to eat before you go to work. You’ve had some doubts whether spending a few bucks on coffee and breakfast was worth it when you could make your own, but those worries immediately get silenced whenever you see Wanda smiling brightly at you, obviously happy that they gained another loyal customer.
It’s a miracle that you get to talk to her once in a while, even though it’s only when she brings your order to your table. You two have only talked about simple yet meaningful topics, like her talent for making delicious coffee and pastries (which always makes her get all shy), her occasional gigs where she sings as she plays the guitar in the café, and her dream of attending a culinary class once she has enough money in her savings, which you never forget to give her your support whenever it’s brought up. What’s not good, however, is that you haven’t really asked her out, always getting cold feet whenever you look at her with those emerald eyes of hers. You’ve never been good with getting any woman that you’re attracted to, how different will your current situation be?
A figure carrying a tray enters your peripheral vision as it walks towards your table, causing your eyes to fully look at it with eagerness. Your excitement dies down when you see that it’s not the owner’s daughter that greets you, but rather the owner’s son, Pietro. Your eyes widen when he smirks mischievously, seemingly noticing how you got your hopes up.
”Oh, thank you,” you mutter politely, not wanting to show how bummed you are at him giving you your breakfast. Unfortunately, he can see right through your act.
He doesn’t respond, only circling around your table as he maintains eye contact and grins. Halfway through his circling, he walks straight before facing the old lady that’s sitting at a table a few meters away from you. He stops in front of her with a friendly smile and placing the tray onto the table. Oh.
After saying the common niceties you hear from a server, he turns around and walks back toward your table, his polite smile slowly shifting into that annoying and smug grin that he has, which seems like it’s only reserved for you.
“You looked a bit bummed for a second there. Were you expecting someone else?” He teases, moving to take a seat across from you.
You roll your eyes before looking away, feeling a mix of embarrassment and irritation. “No, I just… thought that you have my order,” you reply, only for the silver-haired man to chuckle. “So if I did actually have your order, you wouldn’t have been sulking a few seconds ago?”
“… Yes.” He scoffs at your obvious lie. He then leans forward to be closer before murmuring lowly so that only you can hear it.
”Look, let’s be real here, you’re painfully obvious. You’re not slick, alright? You like my sister, Ma and I know that,” he comes clean, not without forgetting a bit of sass in his tone. You slump your shoulders in defeat as he rests his arms against the table.
”Is that why you’re here? To tell me to back off from your sister?” You mumble dejectedly, only for him to shake his head. “Nope, I’m here to tell the opposite.”
Your brows raise in surprise, which encourages him to continue. “I’m not supposed to tell you this, but she broke up with her ex almost a year ago for being a dick to her friends, and I want her to find someone new to meet. Someone that’ll treat her and her friends better, and I’m assuming that you will be that ‘someone’. You will treat her better right? I barely know anything about you to even know that you will.” He raises his brow for confirmation, in which you quickly nod. “Of course, of course I will, I won’t do anything to hurt her. And even if I do, I’ll make sure to be better,” you reply earnestly.
Pietro doesn’t reply immediately. Instead, he’s taking his sweet time scrutinizing you with his glaring, trying to see any hints of you lying. You start to think that their mother’s ability to intimidate you is hereditary.
Finally, after an awfully long silence between the two of you, he straightens his posture as his glare fades away, seemingly convinced at your words. “Alright, good, because if you break her heart, I’ll waterboard you using a pot of scalding hot coffee. Coffeeboarding, if you will.” He jests, although all you can do is nervously laugh along at his “joke” of a threat, since you’re super certain that it’s really not a joke.
His laughter finally dies down as he looks at you with a pleading smile. “So yeah, ask her out. I approve the idea of you two dating, you’d look cute together.” He flashes his charming smile, but you shake your head apologetically. “Sorry Pietro, as much as I’d love to, I don’t think I can.”
With that, his grin turns into a frown. “What? Why not?”
“Because, I obviously don’t have the confidence to talk to a woman. Plus, I don’t think she likes me like that. I’m just a customer to her, just like I am to you,” you huff dejectedly, pessimism taking over your body. Pietro shakes his head in disappointment in response.
”Don’t say that, Y/N.”
”It’s true—”
”No it’s not—”
“You can’t be sure of that.”
Pietro slumps against his seat at your insistence. He’s starting to feel that begging a customer to flirt with her sister isn’t all that worth it to argue about. But before he can even accept his defeat, a thought pops up in his mind. He straightens his posture again.
”You do know that it doesn’t take too long for someone to make coffee and heat up a croissant, right?” He asks, his confidence re-emerging, as to which you reply, “What does that have to do with anything?”
”It means that she’s taking her sweet, sweet time in there, making your coffee and that chocolate croissant real special just for you,” he points out while he uses a lovey-dovey tone in his voice, which doesn’t help him from convincing you.
”She’s probably just prioritizing other people’s orders first.”
“I guess you have a point,” he huffs at your possibly true justification, but he doesn’t waver, “but… have you ever seen me or any of our other employees bring your food to you?”
That catches your attention. Apparently, you yourself haven’t noticed that, since you’re too busy not making a complete fool of yourself when talking to her. And from the look on your face, Pietro knows that he’s got you now.
”Wait, are you telling me that you didn’t catch onto that until now? Even the fact that she sits down with you, and only you, every time to talk? You do know that we’re not required to have a five-minute chat with every single one of our customers, right?” He asks, a combination of amusement and genuine concern in his expression.
As much as you want to reply some sort of irritated retort, your brain is too busy processing what’s apparently been right in your face. How didn’t I realize that? Does that mean— No, no, that can’t be true, she just enjoys my company as a friend if that’s the case. Pietro’s just bullshitting… but maybe he’s not? Look at him, he looks so confident. So confident, in fact, that he could probably tell me that a gambling addiction is good for every kid to have and I’ll believe him. You ponder in your head while Pietro just patiently watches you.
”Sorry it took too long,” another voice enters, which you quickly recognize that it’s Wanda’s. “N-no, no, it’s alright, I’m not really busy right now,” you reply softly, looking at her with a warm smile. And with your gentle expression, her heart flutters
Wanda snaps back to reality, realizing that she’s still working. ”Is my brother bothering you?” She asks as she sets up your coffee and a plate of chocolate croissant on your table.
”When has he not?”
She chuckles softly at your reply while the other twin scoffs. “I suppose that’s a good point,” she grins as she straightens up, clutching the tray while tucking it between her arms and waist. “I wish I could’ve arrived earlier so that I could shoo him away before he could even say something remotely annoying,” she taunts with a cheeky grin. She decides not to mention that the reason she took too long was because she took another try at drizzling the chocolate syrup on the pastry in front of you, wanting it to be perfect.
”Okay, so rude,” Pietro scoffs, which only made you and Wanda giggle. “I was just talking to her about this bar called ‘The F-4’ that has drinks so fucking fantastic, I might consider being an alcoholic.”
”Pietro—” Wanda scolds him, but her brother doesn’t take it seriously.
”What? Sue me, Wanda, but you can’t deny and tell me that place isn’t fire,” He groans before turning his head to look back at you. “My sister here,” He points at her with his thumb, “She won’t admit it, but she can’t get enough of how they made a Cosmopolitan in that place. She could drink that thing for ages and she’d still want more.” You chuckle at the image that his words planted in your head.
”I mean, yeah, that place is great,” Wanda huffs, and Pietro grins at his sister’s defeat. “It is great, especially when you have a date, you can bring them there and have fun, you know?” Pietro raises a brow at you, and your eyes widen at his implication of taking his sister to that bar. You only give him a small glare and a subtle disagreeing shake of your head as a response. As a result, you don't notice the small frown that appears on Wanda's lips for a split second.
“Oh? Who's the lucky girl?” Wanda asks as she puts up a mischievous smile, quelling down the small fire of jealousy in her heart.
“I-it's nobody! Pietro’s just on another one of his bullshit again. Also, don't make that face, you look like him and that's not a compliment,” you reply as your face heats up in embarrassment. The twins only chuckle as you hide your face with your hand.
“Well, either way,” Wanda pauses as she places a hand just behind your shoulder, making you tense up yet still have the willpower to look up at her enchanting emerald eyes, “I’m sure that they're gonna have fun wherever you take them.”
You take a moment to blink before speaking. “Even when I take them to a landfill?”
Wanda giggles in response, making your heart flutter at the sound. “Maybe.”
“It's always fun whenever you're around, no matter what place you end up on.”
Even though the three of you share a moment of silence after she said that, it's for three different reasons. For Wanda, it's to send you the sweetest smile someone has ever given you, her cheeks a little red while her eyes twinkle with appreciation for the person she's talking to. For you, it's to use every brainpower to not fall unconscious because from her heartfelt words. And for Pietro, it’s to watch at how your interaction unravels, biting the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing and interrupting the scene happening before him.
You start to replay his words in your head. Is he telling the truth? Does she really like me back? She was flirting, right? No employee casually says that to a customer, and no friend says those words with that look in their eyes. Should I actually try and go for it? God, it’s gonna be so embarrassing if I do… but I can just invite her as friends first. Yeah, that’s a good idea. Okay, you can do this—
”Wan—”
”Wanda! Pietro! Stop bothering your customers and get back to work!” Iryna scolds her kids, her Sokovian accent slipping out. Pietro then briskly stands up, his sister stepping aside as he fixes the chair he once occupied.
”Anyways, we should get going, we don’t want your breakfast to get cold.” Wanda gives you a tight-lipped, bashful smile. “Were you gonna say something, Y/N?” Pietro asks with an insinuating tone, making Wanda look at you with furrowed brows. The small amount of confidence you once had completely vanishes as they stare at you, making you shake your head out of anxiety.
”N-no, no, it’s nothing important,” you reply as you wave your hand in dismissal, ignoring the disappointed glare the silver-haired man gives you. “You should get back to work, wouldn’t want to keep your mom waiting,” you grin at the small attempt of lightening the mood.
After the twins wave goodbye to you (not without Pietro shaking his head at you), you slump against your chair. Reaching for the perfectly decorated chocolate croissant (courtesy of a certain brunette), you take a bite big enough for the chocolate filling, sweet enough that it’s not overwhelming to your taste buds but actually makes you want to get more of it. Along with the decent amount of chocolate drizzle and the croissant that’s been heated up to the perfect temperature, making it crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside, the three creates a beautiful harmony as you continue chewing, savoring every flavor it brings. As much as it brings you comfort, it also brings you a sense of realization. She really did take her sweet, sweet time.
”God, I’m a coward.”
”Jesus, the reason why I never went back in this café was because I already have you as my personal delivery woman,” Yelena dramatically groans as she lets you pull her by her wrist, leading her to your now-favorite establishment.
”Oh, come on, it’s Saturday, it’s not like you’re busy anyway,” you reply at the petulant blonde. Your steps are more determined as ever as you get closer and closer to the café. “Besides, you owe me a favor for giving me a job I didn’t ask for.”
”And you decided to use your one and only favor to drag me along as a… what was it again? Right, as a moral support when you ask out an employee,” she rolls her eyes as she recalls your words yesterday during your lunch break.
”Hey, don’t belittle her as just an employee, Lena. She’s a really great friend and a really good baker,” you chastise the other woman.
Your tone only makes her scoff. “I’m not belittling her, I’m belittling you!” She continues after hearing you scoff in disbelief. “You’re telling me that you, a woman with a stable job in her mid-20s is scared of asking out a nice lady? That’s pathetic.”
”I know, I know, I’m just— I’m nervous, okay?” You confess through a heavy sigh, “What if she rejects me? That would make things weird between us. That would also mean that all those stuff I bought in their café just to talk to her isn’t worth it.”
Yelena only tuts at your pessimistic perspective before placing a hand on your shoulder. “Look, rejection’s a part of our lives. Rather than running away from it, be the bigger person and accept that not everything goes your way, and that’s okay.”
Your brows shoot up in surprise at the onslaught of motivational words coming out of your usually-brusque friend’s mouth, but you don’t interrupt her, since that’s the reason why you brought her here.
Yelena reaches her free hand to firmly hold your hand. ”The situation’s only gonna get weird if one of you makes it weird. The only thing you can do is be calm and politely respect her decision.”
You try to nod at her wise words, only for your head to be held still by her hands, which are now cupping your cheeks, slightly squishing them.
”Let me ask you this: Did you enjoy the times you got to talk to her when you go to visit her?”
You nod.
”Then all the money you spent for her were worth it, you know why? Because not only did you make a friend, you also supported her work, and if I were in her shoes, I would be super grateful to have met you.” She explains, making you perk up a small smile through puckered lips at her full support for you.
”You’re an amazing person, Y/N. If she says no, then that’s her loss. You can do it.” Yelena softly adds, her lips forming a warm smile.
As you thank her for the pep talk she gave you, you don’t notice the woman that was the subject of your conversation watching the two of you. The two of you also don’t notice the brief flash of defeat on her usually-bright green eyes once you spot her. “So she did have a date,” she thinks to herself as she watches you lightly jog towards her with a smile.
”Wanda, hey!” You greet her with a small wave once you were standing a few feet away from her. You frown slightly in confusion when you notice the lack of a certain garment. “You’re not wearing your apron, are you not on-duty today?”
The brunette bashfully looks down at herself, instinctively dusting off the beige trench coat with her hands. “Oh, yeah. Victor invited me to join him and our friends to go to Canada for a vacation.”
As if on cue, the universe answers your unasked curiosity when a tall, lean-figured man walks up and intertwines his hand with Wanda. Oh.
”Wanda, darling, are you all set?” The man asks with a prominent British accent, making him sound all prim and proper.
The other woman turns her head to look at him, a soft and warm smile graces her features as she stares at him. “Yep, I’m all set. I was just saying goodbye to my family.”
Once she realizes that you’re still awkwardly standing in front of them, she immediately turns to look at you.
”Oh, right! Y/N, this is Victor, my boyfriend. Victor, this is Y/N, my friend and our very loyal customer.”
The man, Victor, reaches for your hand to greet you politely after Wanda’s introduction. You could only give them a tight-lipped smile in return, not wanting to show the immense amount of disappointment you’re feeling.
”I shouldn’t keep you here for too long, I know you all have a flight to catch,” you manage to reply seconds after Victor lets go of your hand.
”Wow, I just introduced you two to each other and now you’re eager for us to leave. Do you secretly hate us?” Wanda playfully asks, her hand flat against her chest as if she was physically hurt by your words. You retort with a scoff.
”Oh definitely. I’m so happy that you’re gonna be gone for a while! Oh, I can’t wait to hang out with your annoying brother everyday!” You reply with a fake enthusiastic tone in your voice, as to which Wanda giggles at your obvious sarcasm. You can’t help but laugh along with her melodic voice. Your laughter dies down once one of Wanda’s friends call her from one of the cars parked outside the establishment.
”But seriously, you two have fun out there, and stay safe!”
From your earnest reminder, the couple can’t help but smile gratefully, but you’re too focused at the alluring woman standing before you.
You, Pietro, and Iryna wave goodbye to the brunette as the car where she’s in drives away. Once the vehicle disappeared from your line of sight, you let out a sigh as your shoulders slump in defeat. Pietro and Yelena, despite being strangers to each other, share a pitying look at one another before placing a hand on both sides of your shoulders.
If you were to wallow over rejection and/or heartbreak, where will you go and what will you do? Will it be:
A. A bar, where you could drink all your sorrows until you pass out;
B. In your own room, where you could cry in peace as you watch a cheesy rom-com, wishing it was you experiencing the happy ending the main characters get to have; or
C. In a café, sluggishly eating an almost-stale chocolate croissant at the table in the utmost corner of the area, not minding the concerned stares the employees and other customers give you.
Despite being in the same café where the notable realization happened, which was that the woman who caught your heart and attention without any effort was already taken, you still come back every day at the same time as before. You only come back because as much as hate to admit it to Iryna, their food has gotten you hooked, which actually made you the most loyal customer since you’ve visited for approximately five months now— Pietro’s words, not yours. You definitely don’t come back with the small hope of seeing a certain brunette again to give you perfectly-crafted pastries that always made your days special. Of course not, that would be pathetic.
But judging by your state, aren’t you already pathetic-looking?
Ever since Wanda’s absence, Pietro has taken the role of his sister, making every one of your breakfast orders with precision and skill he acquired after years of helping out their mother in her business. You appreciate the effort he always puts in every one of them and the fact that he always takes a few minutes off his time to chat and take your mind off of a certain someone. You love Pietro, he’s a great friend, but it would probably kill him if you admitted that you prefer every piece of Wanda’s scrumptious concoctions more than his.
Unbeknownst to your sorry ass, the older twin can see through your tight-lipped smiles, trying your best to always look polite whenever he arrives to your table. He doesn’t dwell on it that much, since he knows how it sucks to be rejected by almost every woman he flirts with. Rather than adding salt onto your wounded heart, he decides that he’d let you take your time in moving on rather than copying Yelena’s approach, which is to give you the good ol’ tough love pep talk. It’s good to have a balance, he thinks. You shouldn’t be pressured too hard or else everything might actually get even worse.
But around a month ago, he started to have some doubts if that was a good idea to handle things.
He shakes his head as he looks away from your unassuming figure, focusing on scooping ice in the freezer box in front of him. As he prepares another customer’s coffee, he bites the inside of his right cheek on impulse, contemplating whether or not he should go forward with a different strategy. Doubts and anxiety hinder his decision-making, but as he enters the kitchen, hidden from every customer’s curious gaze, his mind is finally set.
”I know you said that you love baking, but I think that this is overkill, sestra. You might as well sleep on the table at this point.” Wanda only huffs in response, not taking her focus away from the dough she’s thoroughly kneading.
Per the woman’s request, she’s been cooped up in the kitchen preparing batches of pastries after coming back from Canada just two months ago. She also asked her family not to tell anyone else about her return, still not ready to show herself to the public, wanting some time for herself while still being able to work. Although as much as her family respects her decision, they're pretty certain that it kills her to be stuck in the kitchen without socializing with her friends, too stuck in her own thoughts to even break the cycle of wanting isolation and craving someone's company.
“You need to take a break—” “Piet, I'm fine,” Wanda interjects, although neither one of the twins believe the words that came out of her mouth.
”God, you are stubborn,” Pietro scoffs. “You’re gonna burn yourself out one day, you know that? And when that time comes, who’s gonna help Mama when I start on my new job?”
Wanda mentally curses herself as she remembers. Right, Pietro got accepted to work in Oscorp and would be starting his very first shift next week. But what else is she supposed to do to move on from Victor?
”Come on, sestra, your friends are worried about you. Some of them even asked me if you’re okay since you barely respond to their messages.” Pietro walked closer to his sister, his voice laced with concern. “If you really want to fully move on from that cheating douchebag, you need to talk to people that care about you.”
He then placed a hand on her shoulder, making Wanda look up at him. Her eyes shined of uncertainty, and his heart broke at the sight. It reminded him of the times when she would look up at him for answers when they were little, her green eyes shining as the brimming tears reflect the light emitted by the kitchen lights.
Pietro uttered a soft “come here” before engulfing her in a warm hug, pressing his lips on her temple to give a semblance of comfort. Wanda gratefully accepts the gesture, and they both stay in that position for a moment, both relishing the feeling of love, care, and support.
Once Wanda pulls away with a sigh, Pietro gently pats her shoulders with a small smile. “Come on, you’re taking the day off,” the man instructs, causing Wanda’s eyes to widen, her lips parting as she prepares to refuse, only for Pietro to interrupt with a tut.
”That wasn’t a suggestion, that was an order. Ma and Pa wanted you to take a break from working.”
”Well, what the hell am I supposed to do for the rest of the day?”
After taking the last sip of your coffee, you place the empty cup and the used utensils back onto the tray to tidy up the table before you leave. You then get up from your seat and grab your bag before you go about your day like clockwork.
But before you could even reach for the door handle, a hand wraps around your wrist. Their grip wasn’t tight or anything. It was gentle, yet prominent enough for you to look back in confusion.
And what you saw was a woman who you never thought you would actually see again, let alone feel her touch like this.
Neither of you speak nor make any movement. Your lips slightly parted in surprise and bewilderment, while her eyes were so wide that you were concerned it would pop out of place. So many thoughts are running through your mind right now.
Why is she here? I thought she went to Canada with her boyfriend? Did she just get back today? Why is she holding my arm? Are her hands always this soft?
Instead of voicing out your questions, you only utter a single word.
”Wanda?”
”I— Y/N, hey,” the woman sputters. Just like you, she’s surprised why she just chased after you. Pietro said that it’ll be good to catch up with her friends, but she didn’t have to feel a sliver of panic when she saw that you were just about to leave.
”H-hey, how are you? It’s been a while since we last talked.” You try your best to keep your composure. You forgot how you get so easily nervous around this gorgeous woman.
Wanda only lets out a nervous giggle. “Yeah, yeah, it has.”
An awkward silence fills the conversation, which led to the two of you noticing that she’s still holding your wrist. But instead of letting go, Wanda’s hold tightens a bit, signaling a newfound source of determination.
”I actually wanted to… catch up with you. Piet said that you were free today?”
”O-oh, yeah, I am. But I was planning to get some groceries, but I guess that could wait.” You let out a small smile, which only made Wanda gulp nervously.
”N-no, no, I shouldn’t be on your way of your errands—”
”Hey, hey, it’s fine,” you reassure her, waving your hand that wasn’t captured by Wanda’s comforting hold. “Besides, I really wanna know how you’ve been. Maybe we can talk while I shop for groceries?”
Just at the mere image of talking to you while strolling through multiple aisles with carefree smiles on your faces, Wanda blurts out: ”What, like a grocery date?”
Both yours and Wanda’s cheeks redden once her words were fully processed.
”If… if you want it to be,” you mumble sheepishly as you finally take a risk of kinda asking her out.
Wanda lets out a relieved sigh as a gleeful smile envelops her face. “Yeah… yeah, I’d like that,” she nods eagerly, the red in her cheeks only getting darker, making yours do the same. A giddy smile creeps up on your face no matter how hard you try to keep your composure.
Just as you’re opening the door for her, she slides her hand down to hold yours, pretending that she doesn’t notice your hand tensing up for a second before squeezing hers.
Once the door chime rings, alerting yours and Wanda’s departure, Iryna walks up beside her son, who was watching the two of you with a smug grin.
”Was that Wanda? Did she finally take our word to take a break?” Iryna asks as she squints at the glass door, trying to confirm if that was her daughter leaving the café.
”Yep, and guess what, Ma? Y/N finally got to ask the girl out!” Pietro looks at his mother with victory gleaming in his eyes. “They call that ‘killing two birds with one stone’, yeah?” He raises his eyebrows twice proudly, which makes his mother scoff in endearment.
”As much as I feel relieved to finally settle those problems, I’m gonna miss bribing that woman to buy something from us against her will.”
Pietro chuckles at Iryna’s comment as she feigned sorrow. His wide smile softens as he looks back at the two retreating figures, amicably talking to one another with bright smiles on their faces.
”Don’t worry, Ma. I’m sure she still has a reason to come back here.”
