it’s soft and peaceful, he’s there on the sofa with blankets all over the room, head on her lap and she’s reading.   she’s ALWAYS reading.   no doubt it tickles his interest enough to poke at the book and to ask her to read loudly, just to fill the silence around them with something more pleasant.   no, he doesn’t mind the quiet either, but today was...   today, he would rather be not left alone with his thoughts while she keeps herself busy.

he closes his eyes then, listening to her soothing voice flooding through, coming out just above his head, and inhales.   sure, his brother might kill him just the same now as he could have with all the flirting and whatever else. 

but he’s not there, she is, and she doesn’t mind him napping on her lap.   or at least, as he feels DOZING OFF into the distance, he hopes she doesn’t.
