When he’d gotten her text, he’d dropped everything he’d been working on at the Sanctum and summoned a portal for himself to her location. All he’d been doing was trying to corral some of his less agreeable books into behaving around one another so they wouldn’t push each other off the shelves and end up beaning him if he happened to be walking by. But the summons of, “I need your help,” especially from Wanda, was enough to get him to shake a tail feather over to her flat.

Probably with a bit too much haste, given the cloak was ruffling, annoyed, against his back when he arrived. So far as he could tell at first glance the world wasn’t ending, but when a friend rang him with a request that didn’t mean he could always rely on first glances. “You rang?” he said lightly, trying to downplay his concern without seeming callous for hopping promptly into her living room.
