Amber Coloured Amnesiac
TW: Mention of Alcohol and Neglect
It's an-- admittedly unfinished --one shot about Zenkichi trapped in what I feel like would be his jail if he was sucked into it.
I just wanted to get this out there because there's not NEARLY enough content about this old man and his suffering.
He can't even remember why he was so angry at the world as he takes another, why would he be angry when he has so much good company around him.
Free drinks
Free food
All at the price of something so unimportant that he can't even remember.
Soon enough however, as it has many times before, the booze begins to take its turn as he rushes to the nearest trashcan as the once enjoyable burn in his throat becomes far more violent.
Finally with some reluctance, Zenkichi looks up after what feels like hours and he sees his reflection- how he looks just like his father after he drank, his collar a mess and loosened as if any tighter and it would strangle him.
And suddenly all the laughter and music that was dulling his senses to oblivion now seem to fade to background noise like someone had dunked him in cold water and he couldn't get out.
He is drowning and it's finally begun to sink in.
Excuses begin to spin in his head- whispers telling him to just have another drink, he's been working hard and deserves it. He never doesn't feel like he deserves it.
Not when Akane is at home knowing her dad is choosing to be drunk instead of being with her...
Zenkichi begins to try and get out, telling his... Friends? Co workers? Whatever they are, he tries to explain he needs to leave, and they all just share looks, as if being in on a joke Zenkichi isn't aware of.
Instead of the usual feeling of nerves at not being in on the know about something however, annoyance begins to take hold as his mind pounds to the beat of the too-loud music playing in the speakers.
After one of his fellow patrons of the bar gives him some chocolate 'for the trip' Zenkichi begins to only get more annoyed as even they seem unconvinced he's leaving...
As he begins his mission to leave the bar, it begins to feel like a maze, no matter where he went he found himself back at the bar with the same few people ordering drinks. Even when he walks in the opposite direction he always ends up back where he started and it's beginning to drive him insane.
So he looks for a wall, logically if he follows the wall maybe he'll find a door or maybe at the very least a bathroom away from it all.
Not the first time he left a bar through a window anyway.
... Until he can't find a wall, which is ridiculous- he sees the walls over the sea of head around him, but any attempt he makes at getting closer seems to make them only become farther away. He feels like he's going insane. He has to be- there's no way he can't find something as simple as a wall, right?
His mind begins to spin as he once more finds himself at the bar, but before he can ask for help getting out, he already finds himself with another drink in his hands. The ice clinking against the glass almost musically... Though that music started to tear at his mind like nails at a chalk board Zenkichi can't stop hearing.
He has to get out of here. He needs to get out of here. He has a job to do, people to help. He promised Akane he wouldn't give up on finally revealing Owada for what he truly is. He found people who can help him do that! Those kids- the Phantom Thieves, can help him **finally** reveal Owada!
But he can't do anything if he's trapped in this damned bar. The walls seem closer than before, so he has to be doing something right. Just a little further...
