My 25th Birthday Celebration
My 1st solo travel
We’re still on an enhanced community quarantine and I usually have anxiety attacks pag nasa bahay ako. I really don’t know what I want to do.. But since this ECQ gives me more time to browse old travel photos, I decided to upload some in Facebook and share some of my experiences here as well.
I’m not used to being alone. I’m not comfortable strolling around alone. I hate eating alone, too, but for my 25th birthday, I opted to travel without someone by my side. It’s my way of celebrating life while challenging myself to manage everything on my own.
To make my life a little bit easier, I decided to go to South Korea. It will not be my first time in Seoul, kaya feeling ko I can survive this!
I really enjoy planning trips for friends and family but I had a hard time planning for my own. I did not have any issues booking cheap flights and tours ‘cos tambay ako sa mga booking sites but I did not find the urge to create my daily itinerary. I didn’t feel the same pressure I used to feel when planning trips for others so I ended up leaving the country without a complete itinerary.
Day 1: Myeongdong & N Tower
Day 2: Hongdae & Ewha Women’s University
I also planned to get my first tattoo in Korea BUT I got lost. Hahaha
Day 3: DMZ Tour
Day 4: Haneul Park, Gyeongbokgung Palace & Samcheongdong
My favorite street in Seoul: Samcheongdong
One of the most exciting things I was able to do this time was to party in Gangnam ~ with my roommate (Tiffany) whom I just met the day before. Hahaha.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos from the party except for these.
I’m not into club parties. Actually, I did not see myself partying with strangers in a foreign land. Hahaha. I don’t know how Tiffany persuaded me to join them but no regrets. I enjoyed the whole night. Good thing her group of friends was super fun and accommodating. We got free drinks and snacks, too! Tbh, di ko alam kanino galing nakikain nalang din ako.
Day 5: Common Grounds (It’s my last day in Korea)
I also took a selfie with my roommate, Tiffany. She knew that I will be going home na so hinatid nya ko sa train station. Such a sweet girl, diba?
As I was reflecting, I realized that alone time is actually FUN. Planning for myself was also liberating, I did not feel any pressure creating detailed plans. Okay lang magexplore ka sa isang lugar kahit gano pa katagal. Chill ka lang. I’m so sure this will not be my last solo travel. xx
