tumblr's changed a lot in the last five-ish years i've been here. so have i. but some things don't need to change.

three years ago i got into merlin fandom (as je-suis-loser, if any of you who follow me now were even around for that) and it was probably one of the best decisions i could have made. everyone was so lovely there, and we watched merlin and arthur's friendship grow from start to finish, some of us coming in and out, starting late--it didn't matter. we were a family. i was in high school and overall quite lonely and there was nothing i loved better than feeling like i belonged there.

i was fortunate enough in that time to meet six amazing people that changed my life. they are part of why i am so adamant and open about being a "nerd" and about fandom culture. whatever issues it has, it brings people together.

it was so amazing to skype with my lovely merthurfuckers. 3 years strong! even though we don't talk often, when we do it's like nothing's changed. so proud of you all and can't wait til we next chat (hopefully featuring all of us--eli and caitlin, i'm looking at you!). <3
