Precision Strife Specibus
Wandkind covers the use of wands of all kinds as weapons. From the beginner’s wand a child wishing to be a magician someday may possess, to actually magical wand that may command forces only true wizards are meant to wield, to legendary sticks capable of rearranging the order of the world with a flick and a swish, all these fall under the Wandkind Abstratus.
Wandkind is actually quite similar to Needlekind, and they are functionally similar. Both can be used to stab enemies with, particularly where they are vulnerable such as their eyes or a specific weak point, both are capable of being enchanted to command magical forces through, and both are used by those who may prefer the presicion of a small weapon over the potential power of a greater, unweildier instrument of strife.
The devil, as weilders of either Specibii shall tell you, is in the details.
While Needlekind weaponry is more suited to stabbing, Wandkind implements have a much deeper connection to magical forces. This results in the former being a much more viable weapon early on at the cost of late game power, while the latter is much harder as a beginner weapon with a proportionately greater payout.
Wandkind mostly uses one of the Mental Attributes (Acumen, Pulchritude, or Sagacity) as its Attribute when used as a Magical Weapon. When used as a Presicion Weapon, it uses Alacrity instead. Early Wandkind weapons are stuck in Melee Range, due to their UnMagicalness, but later weapons could have any Range to shoot its Magic through. Its Damage is often Low when used as a Might weapon and runs the full range of Damage when used as a Magic weapon.
Wandkind comes in two types, based on which type of attack it is specialized to:
Precise: The default type of Wand any Player is going to have before entering the Medium and Alchemizing some stuff, barring shenanigans of the Time or Majjyykal varieties. These Wands could deal more Damage through Might than usual, but they’re not all that great to be honest. Needlekind is much more suited for such attacks, and though this type has no penalties to magic casting it grants no notable bonuses either.
Arcane: The type of Wand any Player with a respect, obsession, or preference to magic would immediately attempt to obtain upon entry. As a Specibus with a specialization to Magic, Wandkind grants bonuses to magic casting rolls, and some even grant discounts on casting and learning certain types of Spells. A great choice for any Player whose combat style relies heavily on magic, but its terrible Might Damage Ratings make it horrible should you run our of Shenergy before everything else is dead.
Li’l Magician’s First Wand
“When you first stated your dreams of BECOMING A WIZARD to your Guardian, they bought you this wand. It sort of felt condescending at first, you meant to become an actual practicioner of the arcane arts, not some charlatan, after all. But after all the years of having it, and with your Guardian disappearing to who knows where, well… you’re afraid of letting it go.”
Type: Prescision Stabbing Weapon - Damage: Low - Attribute: Alacrity - Range: Melee
Childhood Memories: This object is a major part of your childhood, which isn’t really all too long ago actually. This ability enhances other HOPE based ability that this object, or anything Alchemized from it, has. In addition, should the user have a particularly strong attunement to the Hope Aspect, the object can be used as a potent focus for their powers and Spells. Should it be used for the casting of Hope-based Spells, treat it as a Prescision Magic Weapon with a Damage and Range of Medium, and an Attribute of Pulchritude.
“A small crooked wand, one that looks more like a a stick someone found in a forest somewhere isntead of a properly crafted wand. It has a sort of aura around it that makes one think of cackling witches and evil sorcerers performing a ritual to curse an annoying neighbor or something.”
Might - Type: Precision Stabbing Weapon - Damage: Low - Attribute: Alacrity - Range: Melee
Magic - Type: Prescision Magic Weapon - Damage: Medium - Attribute: Acumen or Pulchritude - Range: Medium
Arcane Predilection (Curses): The wand grants the wielder a grand affinity for all types of curse magic, allowing them to learn and cast such workings with ease so long as they hold the wand. This reduces the time required to learn them by half, and reduces their casting difficulty by two.
Simple Spells: Allows the Player to learn Spells of the First Order. Each requires time to learn, proportional to their complexity and power, and cost Shenergy to cast. They also require a focus to use, such as a Grimoire, a Stave, or a Wand, having no focus denies them this ability.
