Douluo Continent - Episode 3
I was thinking about watching this after my super boring class, but then why wait until later tonight when I can watch it this afternoon. Right? Also episode two’s ending wasn’t really an ending, so waiting too long would be... I don’t know. Let’s just not wait.
The episode starts exactly where we left, Tang San thinking about his mom and how much pain must his dad endure. He apologizes for saying that much and Xiaowu comforts him saying that his mom and dad were never apart since she still lives in his heart. Cute bonding moment. However, poor Tang San is left to deal with the misunderstandings. Everyone from the dorm thinks he’s into Xiaowu. While he thinks of her as a child haha.
Xiao Chenyu tries to hit on Xiaowu, but she’s clearly not thinking about that. He wants to take her for lunch or breakfast, not quite sure. And then he tells her since his dad is the Lord of the city, he can take her somewhere nicer than the canteen. And... I’m going to like that main lead. She’s dumb and totally unaware of it. She thinks Xiao Chenyu’s father’s title is actually his name. Usually, that tends to annoy me, but this time, it’s really cute and well brought on. It just goes very well with Xiaowu’s simplicity and purity, if I may say so. Tang San steps forward to protect our pretty heroine, which pisses off young master Xiao. His underling wants to grab Xiao Wu, but she kicks him away. And then that ugly Xiao Chenyu threatens Tang San and tells him to hand over Xiao Wu. Scuse you Sir. HAND OVER? She’s a person, not a thing and if she doesn’t want to follow you, then just go crawl back in your hole. Alert toxic masculinity. Stand up to him Tang San <3
Later in class, that underling is trying to copy Wang Sheng’s exam, but in the end, Wang Sheng is the one to get in trouble. Later they are having a fighting class and Xiao Chenyu tries to humiliate Tang San, but it’s not going his way. While they are supposed to practice with sand bags, Chenyu attacks Tang San and he gets beaten, Xiao Wu joining the fight. She’s so feisty haha!
They get punished having to clean the courtyard. Tang San lets Xiao Wu rest while he works, but that’s without knowing that underling guy hid some fireworks. The Chinese ones. So it’s basically coloured fumes. Here I’m kind of... debating. Is it on purpose bad acting, for comedy or just... bad acting from Xiao Zhan? I will opt for option one because of the music choice. But we’ll see. Definitely option one. It was in underling guy’s head, because he thinks his plan is too great. But they really get punished to clean the courtyard. Tang San hears Chenyu and Liu Long’s whispering and using his skills manages to see them. Then he notices the firecrackers and throw them where they’re hidden.
The next day the teacher evaluates their potential and tells Tang San that he can’t help him with his Blue Silver Grass, but maybe he can become a teacher like him someday. Poor baby. So he goes to meet the Great Master and ask him why he says Blue Silver Grass isn’t useless. that handsome guy though. He tells him that even though the Blue Silver Grass is weak, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any strength. So he tells him to think about the actual form of the Blue Silver Grass. After talking with Xiao Wu, Tang San gets something and goes to see the Great Master again who teaches him how to control more his Spirit and what he could do with it. Tang San manages to grow the grass taller and has he gets a little excited, his Spirit goes a little cray-cray. And to gain back control, the great Master asks him what’s his favourite food. AND HE SAYS BRAISED PORK! Which is my favourite Chinese dish. Like, the reason I can’t go vegan. I could let go of everything but my dearest braised pork. I really look forward making some this week for Chinese New Year ** My own little treat. Anyways, he spends most of the practicing with Xiao Wu.
The next they are eating in the village, using Tang San’s money for working at the forge. Then Xiao Chenyu’s father cross the village and pushes people down with his guards and chair. And Tang San explains why it’s like this to Xiao Wu. And... that’s the end of episode 3.
That’s probably what is going to make this drama lose a few points for me, the way it always cuts in the middle of something but like... it’s not a cliffhanger or anything. It’s just a scene. A random one at that. It’s already bugging me off actually. However, so far, I’m still enjoying this. I like both the main characters, the story is still in its original stage so there’s really not much to see about what is going to happen. I’m looking forward next episode!
