Watching cuts of Wang Yan's scenes in The Glory is such cognitive dissonance because everything about her, from her look to her voice, is so soft, and all her roles before played that softness perfectly straight. Then in The Glory she's (one of?) the villian and the contrast between her natural softness and her character makes it feel even more sinister. Especially when you look at here, sometimes she looks completely unassuming like the shot on the left but then there are those moments where the calculating gleem in her eyes is just so wrong on Qing Er Wang Yan.

Also...I spent the longest time wondering why Miao Gui Fei looks familiar and then I realised this is Li Sheng aka Xiao Yan Zi in NZHGG 😂😂 Honestly I said this when she was in The Sword and the Brocade, but she clearly suits this kind of "traditional" female roles much more than Xiao Yan Zi.
