We'll Go Down Together
Part One of "An Egg Goes to War"
"The hell's taking him so long…" spoke a roegydan, his blue eyes searching up the cliff where their scout had gone. There were clear skies, and it was important in that moment to spot where any magitech was on the move before any high winds kicked in. The Xaela who had directed them to the spot was keenly aware of how rough the gales of the steppe could get. And how often they happened. There had to be some sort of pattern. Some cycle to follow. And the Mankhad was determined to pinpoint that cycle.
However...their scout was taking far too long. Any minute now late afternoon would break into evening, and the vicious winds would start to pick up. "...Stay with the others Standing Rock. Get ready to pack up and move to the next checkpoint. I will signal you once I've found our scout."
Said scout--a Knohk Tia--was in fact edging along the side of a cliff. Holding his breath and praying to the spirits of his tribe for his dear life. Pebbles fell and tumbled down with each careful step he took, and his head was dizzy from spatial inconsistencies his body experienced. He was -afraid-. He was terrified. The nunh of his tribe would rather a child of the Vulture like him would conquer the skies, but he just couldn't do it. He couldn't climb up that ladder with the confidence of a Nunh's son. So he'd close his eyes. Claws digging into the dirty rockbed behind him. He thought in his mind that perhaps through some sort of miracle he could fly, but he would instead feel something like the talon of a bird clinging at his collar.
"Hang on. Don't let go." His face was met with a pair of crimson eyes, hidden shyly behind a mask. Those eyes looked far too damned concerned. "Just little steps...take little steps alright? We'll get down, but we must pace ourselves." Knohk found that he was back on the cliff's edge. The area he had slipped upon had disappeared, with rubble left behind, and a familiar blue skinned Xaela holding out his hand. "Take my hand, we'll go down together."
