yes thank u for making allowances for my other AI pals this is a good question1. Milton from The Talos Principle - milton is such a good example of what makes nihilism (the worst kind of nihilism, specifically) so appealing. milton is depression and insecurity and questions about personhood all wrapped into one. not because it necessarily makes you question your personhood, but because they are definitely thinking about it.2. Claptrap from Borderlands - look the reason Claptrap is so high on this list is purely because I love him. the writers treat him terribly. but he’s super autistic and i love him so he’s number 2.3. Hal 9000 from Space Odyssey - Classic. Who watched Space Odyssey for anything aside from Hal? Even more in depth book series about him. Highly misunderstood character, and a grandpa to so many famous robots.4. Turing from Read Only Memories - Canonically nonbinary robot who deals with... being nonhuman in a society of humans and being the first truly sapient machine. Not only that... Turing is a teen who was abused by a parent. When you think about the start of where we separate robots as ‘non people’ and ‘people’... Turing’s storyline is good for that. Also a more positive robot story which... many aren’t.5. Elohim from Talos Principle - Very interesting. If you create the world then aren’t you a god? If you have control over the world everyone inhabits isn’t it true? I love Elohim. It’s hard to talk about him without super spoiling his story but... he’s a good parental AI.6. Loader Bot from TFTBL - Impressive arc considering how little it is talked about in TFTBL. “People lie”. LB is... someone who has come from a corrupt corporation, and fully understands humans and robots do not get the same allowances or independence. 7. Gortys from TFTBL -  Ultimately all of TFTBL is about Gortys getting independence instead of people using her for capital gain. TFTBL is about learning to see people for being people... only then does anyone get ‘what they want’ from the situation. You have to see people as being important in their own right before being tools first. 8. Gesicht from Pluto - It’s been awhile since I read Pluto and I absolutely need to again but... Gesicht’s bits about family really resonated. Him facing the challenges he did and trying his best... Pluto is a good AI story. 9. Bastion from Overwatch - Nonverbal robot with PTSD and who probably you could do a lot with story wise but not much of the fandom does... I love Bastion, who is canonically nonbinary, and def struggles with mental health issues, but who the fandom treats as a dog.10.  Zenyatta from Overwatch - It’s nice to see a robot character given something like a strong religious affiliation... to talk about souls, and how it relates to his personhood. Zenyatta’s a cool guy.(honorable mentions to Kiibo, Glad0s, Wheatley, Nick Valentine, Astro Boy, Curie, Codsworth, Yes Man, Admin, R2D2, Uriel, AM... I haven’t finished Portal or FNV+F4 so some of them have a bias working against them.)
