omg do you think Alucard influenced Integra in any way ? If so in what ways ? .o.
i mean considering the guy’s been there since she was 12 & watched her grow into adulthood like the estranged vampire uncle that he is i imagine he’s had some influence . how much really depends on how you characterize alucard, but you also have to take into consideration that she was raised to be the director of the hellsing organization, so many of the traits you might attribute to alucard could also come from arthur’s teachings, who was her dad & personal tutor & therefore had much more of an impact on integra, more than alucard could ever to have .
from what i’ve talked w/ @vojvode & from our threads a lot of alucard’s influence can be seen in how integra deals w/ trauma, since one thing they really have in common is experiencing terrible shit in their childhood . they’re each quite emotionally distant individuals who don’t allow others in when it comes to dealing with their traumatic past, leaving it up to themselves to process the awful stuff they’ve been through in private & at their own personal pace . considering alucard became apart of integra’s life right after her father’s death & the night which for her would be an endless source of torment, i assume that in the years that came after he inadvertently thought her a lot of coping mechanism, some healthy & most very much not-so . keeping it all in, letting it eat away at you, treating it like a monster ( or a dragon woo! ) you can slay, not allowing others access to that most private side of you because you want to put on a brave face & appearing weak would break such an act . she takes after him, in that regard, but unlike alucard, integra had access to other resources when it came to dealing with trauma, & i assume walter eventually talked her into seeking therapy in her teens which helped process the trauma better than the coping mechanisms she picked up from alucard .
another major aspect of integra that alucard influenced is her opinion of vampires . you see, arthur raised her to hate them, to be a ruthless vampire hunter who would not hesitate to stake their hearts & cut their heads, it was the helsing way . but even still her family employed the use of their immortal enemy in the war the waged, they had a domesticated vampire of their own & understanding why, understanding who alucard was & why he served them in their cause made her rethink this inherit hatred of all vampire-kind . alucard was a monster, of course he was, a hungry beast who could tear through the flesh of its enemies like nothing but almost in spite of that he treated humanity with respect, saw the value in holding onto the burden that it presented in the face of waking nightmares, because he had failed to do so in his human life . & most of all, he rescued a scared little girl from a tragic fate . so in alucard, & later seras, integra saw something beyond the prejudicde purview offered by her ancestors . alucard would stick to it more closely but seras was a complete breakage in the mold .
thank u so much for asking this fantasy shdjkahddashjkdhkajsdkjsad hopefully this answers your question !
