Finally finished this the version of Titus and Gadriel's relationship are influenced by @victorcreedirl (tw for child experimentation and implied child abuse please read with caution)

Titus stepped off the thunderhawk, followed by Chairon and Gadriel, looking up at what looked to be an old abandoned hospital. He got hold of the Captain, telling him they had found the location of the distress signal and that they were heading in. Archeran confirmed that it was the location, telling them to be careful, as they wouldn't know what they would find in that building. Ending the transmission for now, he turned to the others, who listened intently to what he had to say. "Alright, we go in and sweep the place, see what we can find," he told the two. Both gave a "Sir" in response and followed him as he led the way in their bolters at the ready. Prepared just in case this was a trap set by the enemy to lure them in. Stepping slowly, they looked from room to room, finding nothing so far, thinking for a moment, he knew they'd have to split up to cover more ground. Turning to the other two, he told them his plan, "We can cover more ground this way, and we can keep communications open if we find something," he tells them. Titus watched as both agreed to the plan, even if Gadriel looked as if he wanted to protest at first, but decided against it. Titus said he'd take the upper floors, while Chairon said he'd take the second one, leaving Gadriel with the rest of the lower level and basement. Wishing each other luck, the three split off as the two went to their respective floors.  

Gadriel was left alone as he finished the rest of the lower floor, still finding nothing. Finishing the sweep of the floor, he got a hold of Titus and Chairon, telling them he was going to the basement now. Entering, he slowly walked the long, dark hallways, seeing nothing until coming to what looked to be a large door. Radioing the others, he informed them of what he had found, saying he was going to go check it out, ignoring Titus's warning to wait. Opening the door, he slowly walked in, alert as he looked around, seeing nothing until a noise nearby drew his attention. Turning quickly, he aimed his bolter and slowly walked where he thought he saw movement. Approaching slowly, he stopped and called out, "Who's there? Show yourself!" to whoever it was, bolter still aimed. Hearing the noise again, he watched the area intently as a figure slowly came out. What he saw made him go pale as he tried to process what he was seeing. A small child,though the age was hard to discern, wearing a gown of sorts with injuries covering their body. Not only that they look to be underweight, though how severely he couldn't tell. Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he slowly lowered his bolter and knelt to the others' level. Putting his bolter away he quickly picked them up into his arms and started to make his way out of the room only to be stopped when he saw Titus and Charion. Who looked from him to the child in his arms and back again as if processing what they were seeing.  

The two didn’t say anything at first until Chairon moved over to him asking where he found the child and Titus got on the vox requesting an emergency evac. Gadriel looked to Charion “I found him over there” he told him voice laced with worry as he pointed in the direction of where he found the one in his arms. Chiron walked over to where his battle brother had pointed and knelt down picking up two things off the ground. One was a slightly tattered bag of sorts and the other was a stuffed toy that looked to be a patchwork bunny. He put the bunny in the bag and headed back over to Titus and Gadriel signaling he was ready to go now, letting the two lead the way out of the room. All three astartes ran before finally making it out of the building just as the thunderhawk landed. Moving quickly they got on to the thunderhawk letting the two pilots know they were ready also informing them of the extra person they had with them. Not missing the way the two pilots looked at each other for a moment before simply deciding to just take off. The three ultramarines sitting in the back with one holding the child in their arms not saying a word the whole time. 

When they finally landed they stepped out to come face to face with Acheran and Leandros as the two stood next to each other watching them. The captain looked to be about to say something but stopped when he saw the child in Gadriel's arms and the state they were in. Neither man said anything for a moment just stared before Acheran finally spoke “get the child to the apothecaries then report in so you can explain everything” he told the three before turning away. Leandros stayed for a moment longer looking over the boy with what looked to be worry before also walking away. If Titus had to guess it was probably for corruption but figured once the boy was in a better state that would be checked for later. Looking over he saw that Gadriel had already headed in the direction of the med-bay with Chairon following close behind him. Giving a soft sigh he followed soon after knowing that a scolding would be waiting for one of them for disobeying orders of a superior officer. Entering the medical area he watched as one of the apothecaries took the child from Gadriel and got to work. As the apothecaries worked the three left the room to go report to Acheran on what had happened down on the planet. As they walked Titus told Gadriel he would give him a chance to explain what had happened wanting to let his fellow Ultramarine tell his side of the story. Gadriel looked at him giving a thankful smile, agreeing despite not saying a word to this trusting the others' decision. 

Walking to where Acheran stood the man asked what had happened down on the planet looking between the three of them. Gadriel stepped forward after Titus gave him a nod to do so, keeping to his promise to let the other explain himself to the Captain. At first Acheran was a bit annoyed at the other disobeying orders but understood he was following his gut “just don’t let it happen again understand” he tells him. The three gave a quick salute before leaving to go clean up and settled down for a bit of R&R walking to where the baths were. After cleaning up and putting on something more comfortable they went their separate ways. Chiron went to his room to get some rest and read a book, while Titus and Gadriel went to go to the range. Only to be stopped when a noise from the med-bay drew their attention causing the three to look at each other then back again dashing to what was causing the commotion. Rounding the corner into the room they saw a few pieces of medical equipment knocked over onto the floor. Nearby one of the serfs was holding their hand while an apothecary was patching them up, the two talking in hushed tones. Looking over they saw another kneeling on the floor trying to coax someone out of their hiding corner talking in a gentle tone. Moving to get a closer look and possibly help out they stopped when they saw the child from earlier huddled in the corner. The boy looked to be muttering something over and over again as he started to rock tears going down their face. 

Gadriel moved closer to the boy, taking them into his arms ignoring the pain he felt when the other bit him on the arm. He just held them and spoke softly to the boy hugging the other close to his chest letting his double hearts calm the boy. Softly he started to sing to the boy as he rocked him as he gently played with the boy's hair doing his best to soothe the boy. Titus moved closer to them and knelt on the ground reaching out slowly to not startle the smaller male rubbing his back gently. As the boy sobbed against his chest “N-Nine no mean to be b-bad, promise b-be g-good” he said between sobs and gasps of breath. But eventually the two astartes got him to calm down as the smaller finally passed out in Gadriel’s arms who slowly stood up. Titus standing along with him and asking if it would be okay if the two of them stayed here to help with the boy. At first the apothecary was against it but after a bit of thinking and persuasion from the other agreed to it. Gadriel during all this sat over on the medical berth holding the other still hugging him gently rubbing circles on his back. He looked over as Titus came over to him “I’m gonna get us some food and see if I can find him something too” he said to him. Before leaving he bent down to pick up what looked to be a stuffed toy off the ground gently tucking it into the boy's arms. Giving a quick pat on the others shoulder as he walked out of the room leaving the two as Gadriel to softly started to hum.

Rex can't help but brux and wiggle his tail happily. The kiss earns Gordon a quick smitten look and a pair of hands that half raise to hug Gordon before flopping back to Rex's sides as soon as he catches himself. Rex's demeanor then quickly shifts back to his usual casual guardedness, though the scent of happiness, affection, and something cautiously hopeful lingers around Rex, betraying his true feelings.

"Anything-thing you say? Well, I would like some time to spend together, without either of us being in peril. We have both had more than our fair share of danger, yes-no?"

Legends Come And Gone

“You’re a curious one aren’t you?” Eldrin smiled warmly, perhaps for the first time in weeks. Not enough of the Aeldari honoured the God’s to the Seers opinion and the circles of children that sat and keenly listened to his tales only grew smaller and smaller over the many years passed.

“I don’t know if our worlds will ever be restored young brown eyes. In a manner of speaking we might not deserve them again even if we could cure what ails them. Some believe however that the god of death, Ynnead, will grow to power and destroy She Who Thirsts when the souls of the united Aeldari pass on and fuel its strength.

They call themselves the Reborn and its possible their plan could work one day, but look around you” he gestured around himself, the hand holding the teacup nearly spilling onto the flowing black robes that flapped with the grandiose motion.

“They say Ynnead needs all of our souls to destroy She Who Thirsts, but what would become of my home? The farms of the Exodites? The stages filled with the ghoulish crooning of the Harlequins? The forests, beach’s and domes of our Craftworld would be empty and lifeless, the line of Aeldari a millennia in the making ruined as though Morai Heg herself cut strands of fate.

The Ynnari are passionate, fearless and full of conviction and for that I admire them, but to me. Poetry, fresh air and good tea is what life is and the grave lacks those comforts, something no one can say more assuredly than I. ”

The Spiritseer leaned forward to scrutinise his guest a little better and as he did it revealed much about himself. Thin, raven black hair hung low over his back and shoulders and the sharp details of his face were weathered by years of combat. By no means an old man, he exuded an aura of tiredness and the tightly pinched lips seemed to hide sharp prods of pain from limbs that had seen a great deal of suffering.

“What’s your name? You strike me quite young to be traveling like this. Still…” he poured from his kettle and grunted in irritation when only half a cup dripped out.

It was hard not to be. This world, this vast space beyond her quaint, comely home was all so marvelous and new. Never could she have dreamed that the constellations beyond the Moon that Never Sets held such treasures...

And such terrors.

The young woman hides her face into her cup least she wears he heart on her sleeve again, and swallows hard at the memory of ships as dark as night blotting out the colour of the sky. She could not help but think the youthful naitivity that once urged her to wish upon the stars would be the death of her in this new reality. She had to learn and learn fast if she was to survive.

"Everyone deserves a home," she replies quietly, lowering her empty cup to the table between them. And, maybe, she thinks, if their homes were not so bad, people wouldn't be so cruel.

What he says next sorrows her. Her brow furrows, and she intends to listen, yet she cannot help but feel the helplessness of the situation he describes to her. "I...see how it might be possible. Spirits fighting spirits. But I agree. What about the living and the joys of just being alive? I don't think it's quite right to ask so many to sacrifice their time in the mortal realm for a chance at a nothingness that - " she stops and frets, realizing that this dark equation was beyond her own opinions, and that she might have been overstepping her bounds.

Yet despite the morose she chuckles softly at his attempt to draw more tea. "My name is Shana, sir. What is yours?" Her lips skew a bit at the mention of her youth, for she was absolutely determined to prove herself the full-fledged adult her years denoted, but she cannot deny his observations were not true.

"Adventure found me, I guess," she winces, looking up into his mindful eyes, "I was on a ship, the Queen Fury, while journeying north with my friends. There was a storm, and we wrecked with another ship that was not meant to be..." A nervous smile escapes her as her mind plays the sights and sounds of that haunting encounter. "It's going to sound crazy when I say it, but a ship of ghosts. The Queen...she nearly split in two under their assault, and...when the storm cleared the ship was scattered far away from any shore. As if we were tossed in the air. Most of my friends and the crew were missing and those who landed with me were..." Her throat knots and she wishes there was more to drink. "We were scattered when the dark sky ships came. I think we landed, somehow, in the midst of some war. I don't remember the crew that picked me up, but I am awfully indebted to them." She bows to him and to him. "And to you for being so kind as to let me drink all your tea," she chuckles, both serious and trying to lighten the mood.

Finally finished this and decided to post it based on a new au version of Dean I have. Sorry if some of the characters ooc. (and for the number of tags)

Dean limped slowly as he tried his best to make his way through the lab halls a bag on his back and his stuffed toy in his arms. He was making his way to find some way to call someone for help, trying to remember where the communications room was, knowing he passed it a few times with the guards. When they would take him for testing, he also remembered passing the guards’ room too, where they kept weapons maybe he could find something to protect himself. Coming to a split hallway that went left and right he saw more bodies strewn on the floor, causing him to let out a small whimper as he carefully turned left and stepped over someone only to stop for a moment. Looking back, he leaned down and picked up the nearby maul that seemed to have lighting coming off it along with the knife the man had. After doing so, he reached out and gently shut the man’s eyes before saying “I-I need to barrow t-these just for now o-okay?” he asked even if the other wouldn’t respond. Turning on his heels once again he kept moving, stopping from time to time to hide when he thought he heard a noise before moving on when it went away. Coming to the security room he stopped when he saw shadows moving about and peeking in he saw the monsters from before. Dean looked in a bit more and gave a small gasp, seeing one of the scientist on the floor being consumed by the bug monster his eyes starting out-of-focus right at him. Closing his eyes tightly, he slowly backed away and kept on moving, trying to not cry knowing it would just make it come after him. Turning, he made haste down the hall to where the comms room would be and ran in, closing the door behind him, using what he could find to block it. Sliding down against the wall once he was done taking a few gasps of air, trying to calm himself before he got up and went over to the console where he tried to find the button that would call for help. As he was looking it over, a bang behind him caused him to jump and hit the first button he could find.

Taking a deep breath, the words tumbled out talking about strange bug like monsters and needing help before the door flew off its hinges. Causing him to scream out in fear and do his best to dodge the creature as it let out a loud screech as it went after him. Dean gave a yelp of pain as it scratched him as it swiped at him before he could get fully out of the way and ran out the door as it chased him. He screamed and cried as he ran from it, begging it to leave him alone and to just go away as he ran as fast as he small legs could carry him. The boy saw an exit in site only to trip and fall his bag slipping off and his stuffed toy flying out of his arms gasping out he quickly tried to crawl over to grab it. But was stopped when a sharp pain shot through his leg and looked back to see that he had been pinned by the monster who gave a loud screech in response before it leaned down to him. Dean could only sob out before being cut off as he felt a pain spread through his chest and rest of his body before a loud popping sound was heard along with yelling and everything went dark.

Titus was standing with Chairon and Gadriel as they waited with Lord Calgar to listen to a distress beacon that had come in with a message being told they’d want to hear it. He, along with his brothers listened to the message it sounded like a child begging for help talking about bug like creatures and how they were eating people. Even tho the boy didn’t know what the name of these bugs’ monsters were, they did having fought the tyranids before a loud bang was heard. Followed by the familiar screeching of the bug menace and the child’s fearful scream before silence took over. Around him everyone shifted uneasily at the eerie silence that followed by looking ready to take on the nids a look of determination on their faces. Nearby, Calgar was talking to Tigurius to see if the other could still sense the child’s presence, saying he did but they had to make haste if they wanted to save them and who ever else was in danger. So, with that, they all got ready to head out, gathering their gear and headed to the bulkhead pilling in ready for a fight. It took an hour to make it to the planet’s surface as Titus and the others moved as a unit firing on any tyranid they came across. They were making their way to where the signal had come from, stepping over branches and foliage before they came to what looked to be an abandon hospital. Moving in closer, Tigurius stopped for a moment before dashing forward quickly to the doors “we need to move now!” he said as he tried to get the doors open the others moving to help him.

As they pulled the doors open a crack, a scream was heard, causing them all to stop for a moment before doubling their efforts. Finally getting the doors open they watched as the foul bug used its knife like apendange to impale the boy, causing Tigurius to scream out a no while Calgar unloaded bolter after bolter round into the creature. Titus followed his old friend’s suit and fired upon the creature until it lay dead on the ground a look of sadness crossing his face realizing they had all been too late. He turned to look at his brothers to see if they were okay looking at the slight somber looks on their face before he saw that Tigurius had moved over to the boy along with Calgar. Both men were looking the boy over before Lord Calgar looked up “APOTHECARIES HERE NOW!” he barked out to the two apothecaries standing nearby. Hearing this, the two surged forward and started to work on the boy who looked to be still alive if barely handing on others were ordered to do a sweep of the place to see if anymore survivors could be found.

But nothing but bodies were found before they about clearing any tyranids that could be found along the way along with some information found on some computers. Titus remained with Calgar and the others guarding the front entrance before he noticed Chairon out the corner of his eye pick up a bag and stuffed toy. He watched Gadriel come over and look the items over “poor kid must have been trying to escape when the attacked happen…even had a weapon too and didn’t get to use the damn thing… bastards” was all the Sargent said. Both hummed in agreement to this as the others came back to give a report on what was found, meaning this kid was the only survivor of the attack. Calgar gave a nod to this before looking down at the boy who looked to be stabilized now but needed to be moved now. Looking up, he ordered everyone to move out as they got the boy put on a make shift stretcher and was carried out back to the transport ship along with the others following suit. The ride back was spent in an intense silence as they landed and the boy was taken to the medical bay by the two apothecaries. Titus and the others had been given permission to take a bit of time to relax before a debrief would happen as Calgar went to inform the Chaplin of what had happened along with giving files that had been found to the techs to look over. He and the others handed their armor over to the serifs before getting cleaned up and putting on much more relaxing attire before heading to his room to talk.

The men talked about the kid and how he was doing and if he’d pull through the three were confused tho wondering why they were worried for the kid when it looked like he wasn’t an astartes. Yeah, they didn’t show the same amount of concern the Salamanders did to civilians, but something about this kid worried them all, like something in their hearts told them he was a battle brother. Gadriel was frowning as this was mentioned “I don’t know why but when that tyranid impaled the kid something like a righteous furry filled me and I can’t explain it” he tells the two men as he leaned against the wall arms crossed. Chairon who sat cross-legged on the floor gave a hum to this “I know the feeling brother I think we all did, what worries me was brother Tigurius’s reaction never seen him act like that” he tells them. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Titus was about to say something when Lord Calgar entered the room with the chief librarian in tow. The man said something, causing Chairon the blush and stammer out and apologize to the man who simply chuckled telling him it was alright that he was just showing concern. Before they turned their attention to the Chapter master who showed he had something important to share with them that he already had with others.

Calgar looked at the three of them for a moment before taking a deep breath and explaining the situation to them about the boy and the files that had been found. He watched as a look of abject horror crossed their faces when he said that the boy had the same amount of organs as an astartes had when going through the process. Not only that, but what looked to be a patchwork of a gene seed was found in his body, tho they didn’t remove it from him, not wanting it to have adversely affect the boy. Calgar stopped for a moment before looking to see Tigurius put a hand on his shoulder, encouraging him to go on. “One of the pieces of the gene-seed seemed to be from Lord Guilliman, but the other two are unknown,” he finishes as silence takes over. No one spoke or said a word until Chairon worked up the courage. “Can we go see him, my lord?” he asked Calgar as he slowly stood on shaky legs, a look of hope crossing his face for a moment. He gave a slight smile to this and gave a nod. “Yes, but be quiet when you walk in; there was a bit of a complication during the surgeries, and the apothecaries said he needs his rest,” he tells the three men. The three men saluted him before walking out of the room to go see the child as he left with Tigurius to go send a report to Lord Guilliman about what had just transpired and about the situation with the boy.

After some time wading through the jungle, Rex and Gordon are ambushed by a large creature that seems to be part snapping turtle and part raptor. The beast slams into Rex, carrying him some distance through the trees, before the sounds of a fight ring out. Not long after the fight began, a death wail is heard, then there is a thud, followed by suspicious silence, that nothing cuts through for some time until-

"G̴͛͜ȍ̵͍r̴̤͝d̷̖͂o̴̖͛n̴̝͌?"

Rex wheezes, then calls again.

"Gordon, Rex needs help-aid, please."

Mechanical Jaws and Gluttonous Hunger (closed thread with @hxnger-unbcund)

The smells and sounds of death and battle hang heavy at the base of the Grey Mountains today. Any who approach would see a morbid display indeed, or a possible meal for the bold and desperate. An entire army of soldiers from the Empire of Man, previously four thousand men in strength, has been cut down to a measly five hundred by just one skaven, leaving many dead or dying on the battlefield. The thunder of handguns answers yet another charge by this skaven, but the gunfire seems to do little other than irritate the rodent, as it begins to engage the front most ranks of the remaining soldiers who can still fight in melee combat, crushing men with the wicked maul it wields.

Upon arrival to warlord Skreech's chamber, Rex hands back the bread to the clan rat, and a single warptoken. Then Rex enters the chamber, bowing his head and dropping to a knee with a hefty thud as soon as warlord Skreech takes notice of him.

"Yes-yes, I find the terms most agreeable. If I may ask, where-where is the pack I am to be guarding? I am most eager to start-begin."
