Sentient mech is a very cool concept and I love it dearly but for me personally, I much prefer the idea of having an addiction to being in the mech, whether it be chemically enhanced or not, just the idea that life doesn't feel right walking on your organic legs, they aren't your legs, not your body, not without the metal, the mech is you, the adrenaline, the power, the gentle orders from your handler crackling through your outdated receiver, life without that feeling is wrong, incomplete, you crave the next mission, not because you want the fight, but because life outside of your metal flesh will never feel right anymore... And life without handlers praise, is a life with no purpose.
