WOD 2/14/18 I learned a new move! It's called the Dangerous Brian. Eventually I'll make it prettier. @war-mage-workouts
So, last week I dug up my bike after totally ignoring it for the last 5 years. Today I rode with it up to the forest, jogged 20 minutes through the wood and then returned home. All together a 36 minutes workout.
What about you? How's krav maga going/ how was it?
Friday :)
Body-shaping class: done. What about you?

I’ve been inspired by @marcosburlybiceps and @overlycaffeinatedwarmage to start up my own fitness routine.
Overall, my goals are just generally to be happy in my body again. I’d like to take a walk or play with my patient without feeling fatigued and out of breath. I’d like to feel able to move in my body in a way that pleases me without carrying around a lot of bulk.
Specifically, I promised my doctor I’d do my best to lose 15 pounds by my annual physical. That was in September, my physical is in April, and I have lost exactly 0 pounds. So, it’s probably time to get started on that.
@marcosburlybiceps recommended this site in one of her workout posts and after investigating, I decided to give it a try. You can search through their video library looking for videos with a particular duration or calorie burn, utilizing tags for difficulty, body focus, training type, and different fitness equipment used in the video, including no equipment at all.
Since my workout frequency is best called “sporadic,” I figured I’d start with low impact (in deference to my knees) cardio and toning for beginners.
This video kicked my ass.
It’s seven exercises total, repeated over three rounds for a total of 30 minutes. It took me an hour to get through the whole thing because I’m incredibly out of shape. I paused the video after every round to get my heart rate back under control and regain my breath. I paused right before the round 2 stutter steps and thought about quitting altogether. I about burst into tears at various parts of the routine when faced with how far I let myself go.
But I got it done.
I liked quite a few of the exercises, but I needed to modify some of them for my fitness level, especially in the later rounds. If you follow along the video, Kelli demonstrates the moderate level of difficulty. You have to scroll down beneath the video on their website to read easier variations. And I pretty much half-assed the last round of stutter steps, which can gdiaf.
Right now, I’ve got noodle limbs and I can’t raise my arms above shoulder height without them laughing hysterically and noping right out on me, but I feel good. Accomplished.

Just got home from taking my dog for a walk through the nature park. Took us about 45 minutes to walk roughly 1 mile because my dog needed to stop and sniff every rock, tree and branch on the path.
It’s not much, but it’s a step on the right path after a depression spiral. It’s the first time in two weeks that I’ve been out of the house, excluding work and going to my parents’ to do laundry, and my dog is the happiest I’ve seen him in awhile so.... I’ll take it.
