Almost exactly 2 years ago, except it was Leap Day (well, early morning March 1), I was pet sitting at someone's house. A new one referred to me by a regular dear client. For the 1st time, it was at a farm. 2 dogs, a cat, many chickens, some ducks and a goose. It all went well for the 1st few days. But on that night, the dogs woke me up at about 1 a.m. barking loudly. I let them outside since I figured they needed out for a minute ..
Then I saw a figure in the yard light. A man was walking out there. I called 911 and told them of the intruder. I was on the line panicked with a hair dryer for protection. It took 50 minutes for them to arrive. Then the 911 operator notified me the police were there. Eventually I crept out in time to see the police arrest the man. Idk if he could see me but he looked in my direction in a very hostile way.
The policeman came in and told me what had happened. They found the guy lying in the apartment above the garage. He was the same guy who had stolen $10,000 worth of stuff 10 years ago from this same house. The owners of the house had told me about him, just by way of naming sure sure locked the doors, never thinking he would actually return.
This time, he had stolen a moped on the way there. Crashed it apparently bc there was minor damage and blood on it.
Here is the moped which the police left there for the owner to pick up
