— ♛ Blake was tucked into bed, her first night in the apartment and after such a tiresome day. Emily was thankful to the judge that gave her the custody of the one thing person that she loved more than anything in the world. Her heart is squeezing as she steps into the bedroom with light steps as to not wake the teenager in the bed. The light from the hall the only light in the room just barely shining on where Emily would guess is Blake’s leg area. Blonde hair is splayed out on the pillow and Emily wanted so badly to run her hand through it. When she pictured her little girl, she always pictured the child with a head full of dark hair that it almost looked black but her image of her daughter long ago wasn’t as great as the real thing.
— ♛ She looked so much like John that Emily’s stomach hurt, John was a coward that was only good for scratching an itch when he is in town so Emily tries to push him out of her mind. The brown eyes were her color though, the shade was more of a match for herself than John so that was good. A slight smile comes to her face as she moves closer in the room so that she was at arm’s length of the bed. Her daughter was so much better than anything that she could have thought up and the smile that Blake could bring to her face was a bright one filled with hope that no one had seen on Emilia Elizabeth Prentiss before. — ♛ ❝Good night Blake,❞ Emily whispers as she goes over to the armchair that was close by more for looking out the window in the summer than staring at people, she gracefully sits down and she stays in that uncomfortable chair all night, waking up every so often thinking she was having a nightmare of her daughter being in her home only for her to wake up and not find her there but Emily’s dream was wrong because each time she opened her eyes, Blake was there. In the dawn light, Emily left the room before Blake wakes up to start making breakfast, which pancakes were clearly not a skill for her because the smoke alarm went off.𝙏𝙬𝙤: — ♛ Blake was laying in Emily’s bed sick with mono when Emily came into the room, a purple bunny in hand. Going over to the bed and laying the bunny by her daughter’s side, a soft smile is on her face as she remembers handing the bunny to a nurse in hopes that her daughter’s family would allow her to keep such a gift from her birth mother or how she cried when the nurse took it from her grasp and told her she would try her hardest to see if the bunny would stay with the tiny baby girl it was meant for. Emily had cuddled that bunny whenever her mother wasn’t home, which was often because she wanted to have something that was keeping the two of them together no matter how far apart they were. — ♛ The purple coloring was faded a bit and there looked to be a few little permanent marks of dirt on the stuffed toy but it was clearly loved. Even as Blake opened her eyes and used what strength she had to pull the bunny close to her body, Emily could see that it was a comfort to the teen. Blake looked so pale and sick that Emily shouldn’t be standing there smiling but that bunny was the whole reason of the smile even with her being tired as hell from her workout that morning or the fact that she had been doing housework to keep her mind at ease about her sick child. Her hand reaches over and rubs the soft fur of the animal before she left her bedroom and went back to cleaning and for the whole day, she could be found with a soft smile on her lips.𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚: — ♛ Emily had gotten a text from John hours ago saying he wanted to meet up and she had turned him down because she had better things to do than be under him. She made some crappy excuse about needing to stay late that night at work to do paperwork while she really was staying up late to watch Bambi, Blake’s favorite movie when it came to Disney. The whole idea was to spend as much time with her teenager as she can and while Emily understood that Blake didn’t always want to hang out with her because she was a teen, after all, she was grateful for the times that she did get to spend with her. — ♛ Emily had been upstairs getting some blankets and the bunny that Blake loved when the doorbell rang and Emily had called for Blake to get it thinking it was the Chineese food but as she comes downstairs, she hears a voice that she knows all too well asking for her and she wants so badly to get sick because he was an ass, she told him no and yet he shows up anyway, the wide smile on his face is quickly changed into a frown because he clearly asked Blake who she was and the pieces fell into place — ♛ Blake had known about who John was, Emily had pulled at some photos for her to look at to see what she had gotten from her father so clearly, the pieces had fallen into place quickly for her than John. The way her stubborn daughter told him to leave because they were having a mother-daughter day had been the thing to bring a smile to her face because she wasn’t expecting that. Even as Emily made sure to walk John back to the door and kicked him out, she felt good about what went on because it was Blake’s choice to want to deal with him and Emily knew that what John had wanted from Emily had been painful to hear, no child wanted to know that their father would rather the mother have an abortion than give life to the child. — ♛ When Emily went to Blake, she made sure to wrap her arms around her child a little tighter than normal so that she knew that she was loved. The rest of the movie night had been filled with laughs and shared jokes.𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙧 — ♛ Another time that Emily smiled was when she was in the kitchen making cookies with Blake for fun. The laughs shared and flour that somehow ended up in their hair hadn’t been the biggest thing for Emily but the word that was used in their conversation. — ♛ Blake is rolling cookie dough and Emily is putting cooled cookies onto a placement when Blake asks a question, ❝Is this thick enough?❞ SHe didn’t hear the question and the word that caught her attention had been one that she isn’t sure Blake was ready to say. ❝Mom, did you hear me? Is the dough thick enough?❞ — ♛ The spatula that was in hand dropped onto the pan and she is just staring at Blake trying to see if she was going crazy but the flash of fear that was in her daughter’s eyes has her smiling the biggest smile that she has had in a while. The fear clearly was because Emily hadn’t responded fast enough.❝Yeah, the dough is thick enough…daughter, ❞ She only says daughter to get Blake to hopefully understand that she herself didn’t mind being called mom.𝙁𝙞𝙫𝙚: — ♛ Blake is dressed in her cap and gown, running down the hall of her high school after she was able to leave the auditorium, heels clicking at a fast pace and when she is finally able to be in view of her mother, she is seconds away from crashing into the brunette with tears running down her face. Blake Prentiss had done it, she had finished high school and was onto the next chapter in her life. The bone-crushing hug that both mother and daughter gave was a long one. — ♛ Emily didn’t care that Elizabeth hadn’t shown or that John hadn’t shown because Blake had her family there, the BAU all with their own proud smiles on her face. As she pulls back to look at Blake’s face, Emily cups her daughter’s cheek moving some curled hair out of the way as she went. ❝I am so proud of you, more than you ever known.❞ Emily can feel the pride oozing off of her as she wipes her eyes for the thousandth time that day. Emily’s smile was bright as her daughter’s future and she knew whatever the next steps in Blake’s life would be, she would never be alone.
