Plot Twist: someone becomes a teen parent + any verse you'd like

I’m going to set this in Where You Lead…with a twist.

Mulan is 16 when she meets Shang, before she realizes that she’s a lesbian. He’s not the type of guy that her mother would approve of, so she has to start sneaking around with him. Henry helps out and when Neal discovers that, he feels a bit awkward and doesn’t know what to do. He respects Mrs. Fa and as strict as she is, she deserves to know where her daughter is and who she’s hanging out with. However, he doesn’t want to get her in trouble, so he stays quiet.

Then one day, Mulan shows up on his doorstep in tears, looking for Henry-who’s hanging out with his Arendelle friends. Neal asks her what’s wrong and if he can help, which just makes her cry more. He’s watched her grow up, so he leads her inside and tries to calm her down, while Emma makes cocoa. Eventually, she gets the words out.

“I’m pregnant.”

Emma and Neal stare at one another, unsure of what to say or do. They were in this position 16 years prior and they honestly think that Wren’s reaction will look accepting in comparison to Mrs. Fa’s. They ask her what she wants to do and if Shang knows. She says she’s unsure of what to do, but that he does and he’s freaked out. She doesn’t know how to tell her mother and she begs Neal to do it for her. She says that maybe it’ll be better coming from him since he was in her shoes. Neal doesn’t think that’s the best idea, but Emma convinces him, knowing how hard this has to be for her.

So, Neal tells Mrs. Fa and she hits the roof. She starts talking about sending Mulan away or keeping her home. Neal patiently says that she’s a good mother and that she doesn’t want to see what happened with him and his dad, happen to them. After calming down a bit, Mrs. Fa agrees to hear Mulan out and Neal feels confident that everything will be okay. He tells Henry to be supportive of Mulan, because he and Emma lost a lot of their friends when they got pregnant.

He doesn’t hear much from Mulan about the pregnancy after that. She comes over a lot, still, but she never brings it up. Emma reaches out and talks to her, along with giving her a support group that she found for pregnant teens.

In her 8th month, Mulan shows up on their doorstep again. She explains that she’s just so young and that she doesn’t feel like she can properly be a mother. She wants to give her baby the best life possible and that growing up, whenever she was upset with her mom, she wanted Neal to adopt her and become a Cassidy. Since that’s not possible for her…will he and Emma do that for her baby girl?

They’re in shock and need to discuss it, since they had always planned on fostering or adopting, but never a child this young. They talk it over with Henry and he’s on board. Even so, they don’t know if it’s what’s best. They’re in a small town, Mulan will have to see her daughter all the time and it might be confusing with boundaries. They also don’t know if Mrs. Fa knows, but much to their surprise she is. She agrees that Mulan’s not old enough and even though she doesn’t agree with everything Neal does, she respects him and his parenting choices.

It’s Wren that makes Emma realize she wants to say yes. She says she’s unsure if it’s fair that she adopts and raises a baby, after what she did. Wren says that she’s come a long way and that Henry loves her. She can’t make up for the past and she won’t be a first time mom, but it’s okay to want another baby, to get a chance to raise one. He says that he felt similar when he and Belle discussed having children, due to all the mistakes he made with Neal.

So, together, they tell Mulan yes. 3 weeks later, they’re called down to the hospital where they meet their baby girl, Lydia. Mulan goes off to college not long after, but she visits a lot and Mrs. Fa also plays a big role in the child’s life. It takes some adjustment for both Neal and Emma, but they get there. And Wren, Henry and Belle are more than excited to welcome a new member to the family.

How often they fight: Not a lot, they're often on common ground.

Whose big spoon/little spoon: Neal is big spoon.

What their nicknames are for each other: None really.

Whose the better cook: Neal grills well.

Their song: A girl worth fighting for...ahahaaaaa......

Who remembers their anniversaries: Mulan 

Their favorite thing to do together (besides sex): Neal likes to watch Mulan's reaction to Mulan because it's so inaccurate to what actually happened. Like, "wtf...I was never that idiotic." 

Who ‘wears the pants’ in the relationship: Well, Mulan. They are one of those couples that doesn't wear shoes in the house because of her.

How they would get engaged: Neal proposed and said, "I'll the man fo-or youuu" it was super dorky.

What their wedding would be like: Real nice. Henry thinks its cool his step mom is Mulan.

How many kids they’ll have: None
