Ravenwing!
Warriors: A New Path Chapter 5 pt. 2
With a cool breeze that swept through the trees, Spottedstorm gave Steele a lick on the cheek. Pulling away from him, she leapt off the railing down to the ground. Landing gracefully, she turned to face Steele.
"I’ll try to see you when I can, but don’t freeze off your fur waiting for me," she purred with a glint in her eye. Steele nodded in understanding and flicked his tail toward her. They once again parted ways.
As Spottedstorm trudged toward camp, head down from the cold wind, she tried to scent as much as she could. Her frozen nose made it difficult to focus on picking up scents of prey.
Out of nowhere, something tackled Spottedstorm to the ground. Rolling through the underbrush, the two cats dirtied their pelts. Wide eyed from shock, Spottedstorm was face to face with Riverstripe. His eyes showed pain and betrayal as his lips were curled in a snarl.
"Riverstripe!?" Spottedstorm feigned surprise.
"What’s going on here? Why were you seeing a kittypet?!" he spat furiously. Spottedstorm cowered under his weight as he held her down, her ears pressed back in shame.
"I was out hunting and we ran into each other. He was curious about forest life," she answered half-truthfully.
"It looked an awful lot like there was more going on than happening to cross each other’s paths," Riverstripe accused. Spottedstorm looked away from his gaze. "Don’t think I haven’t noticed you sneaking out of camp. At first I thought nothing of it, but then you kept leaving. It seemed suspicious. That’s why I followed you today," he explained.
"I cannot deny what you have witnessed. I have no excuses for my actions," Spottedstorm admitted. Riverstripe growled in disappointment, but stepped away from her. His pelt rippled with frustration.
"As deputy of our clan, I should punish you. But because I love you, I will keep this between us. Get back to camp," he hissed. Spottedstorm, with tail dragging in shame and her ears flattened to her head, trudged toward camp with Riverstripe following.
