what i love about Hyrule Warriors Link is that he's canonically insecure (he's said to not feel worthy of wearing the green Hero's tunic) but also overconfident (and gets trapped by Cia as a result), which makes him the perfect candidate for a fic about his unhealthy coping mechanisms and how he learns to heal and love himself
i opened my massive Linktober document and this unused line from "you waited smiling for this" jumped out at me:
