It’s finally here!
This is my 98 Warwick Thumb. I had to leave it behind when I came out, because I needed to move (and fast), and there was no way I was fitting it in my tiny ass convertible for the move. After more than half a decade of fucking around and trying to get it from estranged family, it’s finally here.
It’s almost surreal how well it still feels like it ‘fits’ me.
Bonus photo of me carting it home in my MX5. I had to drop the roof because it wouldn’t fit in through the door opening, then close the roof on top of it.
As an aside, I’m kinda into the way old Warwick headstocks brown over time. This guy is early enough to have a wenge neck, but juuuust late enough to have the two way truss rod. This is a pretty special bass to me.

Here's a tune - all sounds from a Warwick thumb bass.
Had some fun with my bass and Ableton. Set up a project with 8 Channels in Live, with a Reverb and Limiter on the master. Ran my Warwick Thumb 5 B.O. into a Boss GT6B direct into Ableton. Used the APC40 to record and loop on each channel. No additional instruments or overdubs. The first section is actually a tune I have been fiddling with for a couple of years, and will more than likely be fleshed out into a full MiaDW track at some point. The second section is just an improvised reggae vamp. Been working on another whole batch of tunes, as well as the Creative Common remix, which should be finished shortly. But for now, enjoy this.
