“Hey! Welcome!” There was a bright smile on Zoe’s face as she threw open the door, hoping that it was just enough to hide any of her nerves. The whole family in one place and she was looking forward to it but it was still the first time she had seen them all at once since-- everything. “Okay so kitchen is over there if you’ve been granted permission to enter and for the rest of us, banishment table is full of wine and ready to go! Come on in.”

Time Period: Three days after the event & one day home from the hospital

The pounding at her door startled her from a light doze from where she was laying, curled up on her couch in the sitting room with her head tucked into a soft pillow and her body snuggled into one of her warmest blankets she owned. In any other situation, Diamond would have been pleasantly comfortable and cozy, but she was currently feeling neither of those things. With the pain of her butchered flesh being far too intense to bare, she had completely doped herself up with pain meds - doctor prescribed but she had taken far more than the recommended dose. Yet even through the drugs and sluggishness, she was still feeling absolutely miserable - physically, mentally and emotionally. The pain was definitely still there, and on top of that she was feeling extremely light-headed and shaky, with fever, and she had been sweating profusely for the last several hours.

At this point, she was almost certain she had an infection, but instead of picking up a phone and calling for help, Diamond remained where she was laying, curled up and buried in her blanket. Too sick and too depressed to give a shit about her deteriorating health. She didn’t care if the infection got worse; didn’t care if it killed her. She honest to god did not care about anything at all at the present moment. She especially didn't care for having company and the pounding at her door was definitely unwelcome and she wanted nothing more than for whoever it was to just disappear and leave her alone. Diamond wasn't in the mood or the best mindset to see anyone - be it a family member, one if her friends or even her boyfriend.

Over the gentle noise of the quiet television playing across the room, Diamond let out a sound that was an odd mix of a sob and an irritable and wholly miserable groan, “Fuckin' just...go ‘way...I don’ wanna see anyone,” she mumbled - pleaded - despite knowing they wouldn't be able to hear her. She couldn't exactly get up to answer the door, even if she had wanted to let them in, so her only hope was that they would get the hint of her silence and fucking leave.

Mental Hospital TW, Drugs TW

Location: The Psychiatric Institution Sloan and Ronan chose

She doesn’t remember much about the past couple of weeks. Not since attacking her family on the boat, the memories of what she had done flooding her mind. And from there she has been drugged, in therapy every waking minute they can have her in there. The memories of who she was and what has been done to her clash in her mind and it’s enough for Zoe to want to just be numb. And then someone mentions her family and she gets angry again. A new cycle. Hearing the door open she looks up, her eyes empty of any kind of emotion. “You can come in. Not like I can do much to you anyway.” Not with the restraints keeping her on the bed, and the light sedation running through her system at all times now.

The days now were long but the nights were even longer. It was now one of the few times that Zoe was left alone and she was telling people that it was fine, that she could handle things. But every time she closed her eyes memories that she claimed not to remember came rushing back and there was no way to escape them. That night had been exceptionally bad, her waking up in a cold sweat and tears that she couldn’t control. Grabbing her phone she pulled up the first number she could see, “I know it’s late. C--” Her voice broke on the sound, “Can you come over? Please?”

Christmas With the Washingtons

Location: Diamond’s Penthouse

Time: 12PM-ish

Christmas was a day for family, and while Diamond really wasn’t feeling the festive vibes this year, for many reasons, she really wanted the time with her family. Needed it. A big change in how she’d been these last few weeks, where she had refused to pick up calls or exchange texts with anyone - family or friends, alike. She had pretty much isolated herself within her home and had only ventured out a few times when the silence got to be too much, despite not yet being fully healed. In distancing herself from everyone - as she tended to do whenever she was going through it, mentally; an innate instinct to hide away from the world when she wasn’t strong enough to face it - it only seemed to make her miss her loved ones even more. The closer Christmas came, the more she desperately wanted to see everyone. Be surrounded by the people she loved most in this world. So, Diamond had decided to make an effort, for them...despite not really feeling it.

She normally loved Christmas and had hoped that with putting up the vast amount of decorations, and then decorating the eleven foot pine standing in the middle of the grand foyer, it would help her get her into the holiday spirit...but no such luck. But she was a pro at pretending that everything was alright in her world and when she heard the buzzing of the doorbell that signaled the arrival of a family member, Diamond put on that manufactured smile that she’d spent years crafting and got up from where she’d been snuggled up to Cicero on the sofa, to answer the door.

“Hey - Merry Christmas!” she greeted them the instant the door opened, “Come on in - there’s snacks and drinks on the table in the living room, and any gifts can go under the tree over there,” Diamond said, gesturing to the giant lit-up red and gold-themed tree a few feet away, where she’d already stacked dozens of colorfully wrapped presents of her own.
