“WOW! stan’s here.” georgie exclaimed, poking his head around the corner & spotting his brother’s friend STANDING at the threshold of the denbrough house. ( seeming to be waiting to be invited in behind the screen door. poor guy. who knew how long he’d been waiting while georgie was preoccupied? ) scampering and sliding a little across the wood floor in his socks, georgie came to let him in, clumsy little fingers shifting the lock. things were a little more CHEERFUL in the denbrough house: one could hear a record reverberating off the walls and it wasn’t, thank the Lord, classical music! that alone put georgie in a good mood! “hi, stan ! i like your shoes. what’re you doin’ here?”
