Wasurerarenbo - After the Rain
Wasurerarenbo!
わすれられんぼ / After the Rain [ そらるxまふまふ]
after the rain~
わすれられんぼ Soraru x Mafumafu
わすれられんぼ / wasurarenbo interpretation
not to jump to conclusions or anything but guys don’t you think that wasurerarenbo is really resemblant of mafumafu’s relationship w soraru?? i mean using kame-san’s translations as ref (the following interpretation is 100% opinion, i’m not claiming this to be the real meaning at all ^^):
“Being kicked around Being trampled down I have wanted to die since I was a child Even though I’ve already lost myself as it is”
this part is talking abt mafu’s childhood when he was bullied. being kicked around and trampled down is clear imagery of either abuse or bullying; since he has come out and said that he’s experienced the latter, that’s the interpretation i’m going with. because of this, he’s saying how he’s wished for death even at such a young age due to his toxic environment at the time. the line ‘even though i’ve already lost myself as it is’ implies that even though he’s already lost grasp of his identity, he still wishes to stop living.
“But I was allowed to remain in your world Even able to sing, with this warped but definite love of mine“
when mafu came out abt the story of his past, he spoke about how srr saved him in a sense--i interpret srr saving him as ‘allowing mafu to remain in his world’. mafu singing with his ‘warped but definite love’ really sounds like him discovering his passion for producing music, ‘warped’ because a lot of what he sings about is tragic and dark.
“It’s fine For me to be hated, for me to be thrown away I don’t mind, there are no umbrellas either On the other side of the rubbish pile”
if we say ‘the other side of the rubbish pile’ is the place mafu was in before, i think he’s saying that it’s fine because he’s been through worse in other times, in different places--something along the lines of, “it’s okay if i’m hurt where i am now, because it wasn’t as though i was sheltered from it before.”
““There’s a reason to why you can’t succeed” That’s an excuse from the successful, right “There’s a reason to why you are bullied” Isn’t that just an excuse from the bullies”
these definitely definitely definitely sound like things mafu has heard from people throughout his life; especially the latter that makes a direct reference to bullies. in addition that part of the song is given an effect that mimics the voices of multiple people. he’s thinking about the words people have said to him that have likely left a large impact on his life negatively, and answering them bitterly. (perhaps these are things he didn’t have the nerve to say or think before?)
“Huh, how strange I’m starting to cry Clicking my tongue at Even my “loves” from back then”
honestly idk how to interpret this part as much but since there’s an emphasis on ‘loves’ as well as the fact that he’s clicking his tongue at them, it sounds like it was simply faked/forced love. he’s beginning to cry because he’s reminiscing on said faked love. and then there’s the part that follows,
“I wonder, is it that bad? Am I so bad?”
which is another clue that makes me think that it’s just forced love--he’s questioning his self-worth, wondering why people would even force love for him in the place if he’s so awful.
“It’s fine I won’t say anything like “no” Erase away my cowardly self”
was slightly iffy on this part bc srr sings the last word of this line but! this sounds like mafu being submissive and passive to change, then calling himself a coward because he doesn’t have the nerve to disagree with others or speak his true opinion; instead he does what everyone else is and says what everyone else is, and, hating it, he wishes to erase this cowardly part of him.
“Disused belongings will only be Forgotten again and again”
as though talking from experience, he says that the more one neglects something (or someone in this case) else, the more they’ll be forgotten by everyone else.
anyway that’s just my take on it?? sorry if some if it doesn’t make sense i’m actually pretty tired and didn’t expect to go on for this long LOL i can’t say anything abt srr’s parts bc unfortunately i don’t know anything abt what he’s experienced before, but... yeah, feel free to correct me on anything bc it’s almost 1 am smh
mallow-san, thank you so much for your helpful translations!!! i had a question about atr's 'wasurerarenbo'. mafu's description reads 「拝啓、世界の掃き溜めから」- i was wondering what this meant, as it's not in the song (i think? orz)! is it something like 'dear the garbage dump of this world'? thank you in advance!
Yes, it’d be “Dear Sir, from the garbage dump of the world” (as in the beginning of a letter) so pretty much like you said ! Thank you for your message, have a good day !! (*^▽^)/
"That's why, it's fine-- to be hated, to be thrown away, I pay no attention..." Fazmu please-- STOP BEING PRODUCTIVE AT 4AM Anyway here’s a rushed crossover (sorry for the quality TUT i need sleep) Characters: Russell Seager/Informant from ENDROLL Song: Wasurerarenbo by After The Rain (Soraru x Mafumafu)
