Nooooooooooooo my favorite scene is gone. I was really looking forward to seeing how they handled it 😢

1899 rewatch decided to drag this out and go two episodes a week (does not remember how many there are)

So here is episode one the ship and episode two the boy

- I love the tea drink in sync (really surprised I didn’t have to fight with the settings to make sure everyone is talking their right languages)

- Mrs Wilson is not wrong Angel is horny looking

- hey it’s Krester and I immediately feel guilty at dropping The Rain but you know justice for Martin

- Ada is so cute

- I cheered seeing Eyk not gonna lie

- Maura storming into Eyk’s room like that is so funny

- I want the what is lost will be found letter writing set

- BROTP Olek and Jerome let’s go

- poor Ramiro

- love Clemences cloak

- Angel keep it together

- love Eyk turning to look at Maura

Lelouche is so charming lol

My thoughts as of watching up to:

!ep.11 Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2!

One of the things I enjoy about the series is how it breaks up the heavier episodes with it’s school fluff. Whether it be Milly’s over the top school activities or hijinks where lelouch get narrowly outed to a little fumble. It keeps the pace from getting too unbearably heavy and I really enjoy the character writing in them.

And something I noticed about Lelouch is how he seeks and receives advice from women like with C.C. and Collin. The thing striking this thought being how he calls Shirley to ask about how to deal with a love conflict in ep.11, and he gets a whole “AH! EUREKA YOU’RE RIGHT!! I MEAN I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR MY SISTER! THIS IS NOT MUCH DIFFERENT!!” It’s so funny and sweet. Oh and how he earlier dismissed the reporter dude’s (don’t remember his name ouch my bad) advice on retreating instead of trying to save Collin? lol, it’s pretty funny to bring up in this conversation.

Also Gino and Anya enrolling into Ashford academy?!GYAHH SO EXCITED!!!

Anya also seems to know Lelouch, at least when they were younger. I think she may be a distant relative of his based on the fact she has pink hair like Cornelllia and Euphy. That’s just a theory, we’ll see

#watch diary #two of my dear pals keep going to local shows and not having a good time; while another friend had been trying to get them to watch #wrestling with him for years. so we ended up putting a bunch of matches we could talk through since they're so much more into the listening #to people talk about matches than they are actually watching #everyone was immediately charmed by the tag match! riho+kenny are so much fun and emi+masa struck the perfect balance of stooging to heel #randy v cactus jack gave the newcomers their favourite part of the night - the poor ref putting his hang down hard on a thumb tack #poor guy! that sucks!#rlly need to go and watch some of mick foleys work at some point he's a guy i know exclusively from gifs of him covered in blood #thekla v kurara was perfectly serviceable even if the wrestling itself was rather boring (sorry gals!) but the overall story was sooo funny #god thekla you are such a freak!!!#kurara's face as the very end is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. woman saw god that night. maybe she should try and kill her bos #oh she's very very new to wrestling that makes the in ring work make sense. props to her acting chops then!#we weren't planning to watch the effy match but some tech issues occurred and im SO glad we did. sorry to the missed krackers match but JEE #t had seen it in person and said he thought it was kinda disappointing. opinion was Changed upon rewatch #lochy getting to have his evil bisexual moment <3 the fact that he apparently built this feud himself bc he wanted the match so bad #effy was lovely to see!! insane energy i need to learn to make gifs lad because JESUS they have fun together #aysha v maki was fine! aysha was her insecure self which i really like and the interference spots were fun for me specifically as an ambush #liker. Every 45 second someone said how much they liked makis fit #t also got a high five from her in the recording which was So funny to see! the gang makes fun of you for being at a live event #pokutan match had everyones second favourite part of the night: that thang getting beheaded #great heel work from cb. ddt really is the place of all time #my computer crashed while workingbon this so part 2.... later!

it strikes me again how very different the context surrounding the nagasaki fight is in the animanga+thdrama vs jdrama. the primary issue in this version is adachi making an important career decision without even letting his partner know what is going on. whereas in the jdrama the primary issue is that kurosawa is lying about being emotionally stable over the transfer because he wants to be the perfect, infalliable bf.

in summary here are the main things i noticed between the two adaptations—

–the huge difference in work culture between japan & thailand & how that changes the characters trajectories. Achi has more career agency & a far more supportive work environment than Adachi from the get-go.

–the thai drama is the most light-hearted version of this story. the stakes are much lower, & karanachi start out in healthier headspaces than kurodachi. there is more talking things out honestly, and there aren't really any prolonged relationship issues.

–there is more physical intimacy in this version than the jdrama, but less than the manga (from what i hear, haven't read it yet). which makes sense because the thai drama is based on the jdrama rather than the source material, & they added stuff back into scenes where it seemed natural to put it.

–the B couple has more development here & i actually like them. there is an additional C couple that i don't care for together, though i like their individual characters very much.

tldr; the story & character arcs of the jdrama are unbeatable, & i did not find the thai version that compelling in comparison. the jdrama is a story about dealing with quarter life crisis, & to me the thdrama is just a fluffy happy story. but i very much appreciate that this version is far less censored.

ok now i know i was not imagining it, the manga & anime move through the setup stage at a breakneck pace. anime!Adachi finds out Kurosawa is into him at the 3ish minute mark & is already staying over at his house at 10 minutes 😭. jdrama and thdrama Adachi don't find out until the 13:00 and 16:45 minute marks respectively, and the episodes end before they get to the house.
