I love stupid traditions that happen organically, like Japanese Movie and Cheese Night.
Basically, some friends and I discussed how much we all loved nice cheese and decided to get together to watch a movie and eat nice cheese. Everyone brought a nice cheese and something to eat with it, like fruit or chocolate or crackers. The first time we got together we decided to watch a Kurosawa film, probably Sanjuro, because half the group hadn't seen any Kurosawa and the other half decided this couldn't stand.
Next time we watched Hidden Fortress due to its connections to Star Wars (George Lucas basically ripped the plot of A New Hope wholesale from Hidden Fortress). Because it had happened twice, it was now a tradition, and we just met up weekly to enjoy eating really nice cheese and watch Japanese films specifically.
