Which do you prefer- Captain America in the comics, or Captain America in the MCU?
So I’m a trash child that actually hasn’t read anything of the comics besides what’s popped up on my dash so here’s more of “what I like from each”
MCU:
-Chris Evans’ twitter is essentially Steve’s and it’s so delightful to see him give no fucks about calling America out on shit like electing Trump
-The uniform looks so much better in the movies, in the comics it either looks armor-y or flat. Captain America deserves three solid dimensions.
-I think the fact that the movies provide us with such a direct comparison, we’re able to see the natural ways that Steve Roger’s moral compass extends into being Captain America and the ways that being Captain America hinder his ability to move forward in his personal life.
-Building off of that, I really appreciate the way that Chris Evans is able to transition from Steve to the Captain so seamlessly that we’re able to see how conscious Steve is of his role.
Comics:
-Steve’s anti-fascism is really given more time to shine [as opposed to a general concept of “good”/”right”]. The comics have several undeniable instances where Captain America needs to rebel against government agencies because they’re being fascist.
-There seem to be more examples of Captain America/The Avengers/Bucky Barnes having personal time? Or at least, time when everything isn’t immediately on fire. I love seeing them interact with normal-y people.
-STEVE ROGERS, SAM WILSON, AND BUCKY BARNES ARE ALL CAPTAIN AMERICA AT SOME POINT AND THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME. I don’t know if they’re all Cap at the same time and trade off, I don’t care. I imagine them ALL being cap for some really dire situation and squabbling over who gets the shield- this is important to me.
