The Last Duel [R] ★★★★★

So I've been dying to see this one since the trailer came out this summer and it did NOT disappoint. Gritty and difficult to watch (I had trouble with it at some parts) but the writing, execution and performances were brilliant- especially Jodie Comer and Adam Driver. I hadn't seen any of Driver's film work before this- I'm going to have to change that because what the f*ck this man can act! I knew Jodie was going to be flawless but she still managed to leave me speechless. Her ability to seamlessly and subtlety portray multiple perspectives of Marguerite de Carrouges (apart from hers- the truth) is something to see. I've been a fan of hers since The White Princess so I knew she was going to body this part. This was HER movie and I'm crossing my fingers for an Oscar nom 👀.

disclaimer: I swear I am not trying to kink shame anyone here. I know a lot of a lot of us clicked on it “for the plot.” However I firmly believe that netflix should have put a trigger warning on this thing after they got the rights to it. There’s some stuff in here that I wasn’t totally cool with. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into when I clicked on it. ok that’s basically it.
