FOOTSTEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT, cutting through the puddles in her wake-- unusual, this time of night, but nothing to cause alarm. She may shudder when they cut through her, but no one pauses in a thunderstorm to wrangle change for a vending machine.
It is the light that causes her to freeze.
“S-Sorry--!!” Umbrella shade and sudden brightness blinding her obscure the perpetrator in whatever bold approach they’re trying to make-- but she cradles her prize from the machine she falls flush against despite herself.
