The sudden rise in her voice is enough to startle Katie, taking a solid step back and blinking. Sleep is ready to take over, rain blurring her vision further than even drowsiness can. Free hand comes up to swipe at her eyes, keeping the temptation to pass out at bay for a little while longer. She can rest when the situation before her is resolved, right?
“ I, um, yes– You see, I have this watch here and it’s letting me see a bunch of you guys around here, ” Katie explains, not pausing to even ask if Drizzelda already knew about the device. If the surroundings were kinder for this encounter, maybe she would have.
“ … Listen, you don’t seem happy to be spotted. I can’t do anything to make you pay for that drink either, so… can I please buy one myself? If I don’t drink something that’ll pump me up, I might just pass out in the middle of the street. ”
An exaggeration, but she really needed to get going.
---SHE’S GONE AND CAUSED another inconvenience, hasn’t she? Before she pauses to consider why a child wields such an expensive device in a summer shower without fear-- why she’s trudging through nasty weather in the middle of the night at all-- Drizzelda wills her shaking legs to move.
“S-Sorry...!” A shiver, still cradling the spoils of her conquest against her chest as she steps through drenched grass and puddles lapping at her ankles, only enough to let the stranger accosting her have her turn at the machine.
Wide eyes still watch her every movement, flit back and forth between the Yokai hovering just out of the beam of light, too obscured by rain to make out clearly but voice unfamiliar and crystal clear through it all anyway.
“It’s... bad to be out this late, in the rain.” Even with watchful eyes-- even with an aura that leaves most drenched-- most are not as kind as her to the intrusions of strange humans.
