Urban Sharks 🏙️🦈✨

A clear blue sky and just another typical day in the life of the sharkfolk in downtown Tidebay!

“Even after being threatened by the great extinctions of the past, sharks remained resilient as they headed into the future. But now they wear clothes, use cell phones, play video games, and make music! How much time has passed?” 🎮🦈✨

I'll finally try to make a webcomic about these sharkfolk, I hope it works out, I talked a little about it here if you want to see.

I finally finished this artwork! ✨

This is the second experiment I did to try drawing over the 3D model I created of Tidebay city, where my sharkfolk live. It really helps a lot not to worry too much about perspective, I just had to improvise the shadow placement to prioritize the composition.

I've made a little more progress with the color blocking. It still feels a bit messy to me, sometimes I have trouble balancing the shadow colors. That's it for now. If you'd like to see the full progress and the complete illustration, you can check it out on my Patreon, if you'd like!

I’ve been recovering from a bad sickness last week, and while I’m trying to get back into my routine, I’m slowly continuing to work on this piece depicting an urban scene featuring my sharkfolk. You can follow along on my Patreon if you’d like.

In a distant post-Anthropocene future, after the rise of the sharkfolk civilization, a hammerhead shark named Roberto asks himself a question! 🦈💬

As promised, here's the full version of this test sketch I made. Originally, there weren't supposed to be any characters in the scene, but I wanted to experiment with how I would do it and inserted Roberto and Tiago having a silly, random dialogue.

For location reference, this scene would be from this area. Called the Colortrail Courtyard.

Here's a small diagram I made to help me find my way around the Seven Waves, The home of my sharkfolk friends. 🦈✨

I'm still unsure which English terminology would be ideal: Residential, Building, Towers, Complex? Which would be best to use?

After thinking about it, I came up with: The Seven Waves - Residential Island.
