The Grand Palace and Ramakian Murals

The Grand Palace, on the same grounds as Wat Phra Kaew (see previous post), was built in 1882. The main building, the Grand Palace Hall (Chakri Mahaprasat) is a “peculiar blend of Italian Renaissance and traditional Thai architecture. It’s a style often referred to as...Westerner in a Thai crown because each wing is topped by a heavily ornamented spire representing a Thai adaptation of [a] Hindu shrine. 

Thai kings housed their huge harems in the inner palace area, which was guarded by combat-trained female sentries.”

I’ve also included a few more pictures of the murals at Wat Phra Kaew that I couldn’t fit in my last post. These murals line the inside walls of the temple compound and illustrate the Ramakian, the Thai version of the Ramayana epic of India.

Un día en Sanam Luang

¡Hola! Tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar “Sanam Luang”, que es uno de los lugares más importantes de Bangkok. Fuimos a tres lugares alrededor de Sanam Luang. El primer lugar es un restaurante que ofrece varios tipos de platos. Se llama “Charern Chai”. Pedimos un plato de arroz con cerdo y un plato de fideos. El sabor no era tan especial, por eso nos gustaría darle una puntuación de 6,5/10. Pero te recomendamos que lo pruebes, ya que hay muchos otros platos.

                    El segundo lugar es “Tha Maha Rat”. Está cerca del río Chao Phraya. Queremos que vengas porque es el lugar más lindo de Bangkok. Puedes ver el río más maravilloso de Tailandia y los barcos grandes desde este lugar. Antes de visitar este lugar, es mejor que lleves el paraguas, porque el sol es muy fuerte.

El tercer lugar es el Gran palacio o “Wat Phra Kaew”, que es un lugar muy popular entre los extranjeros. Cuando caminábamos dentro de la zona del palacio, vimos muchos extranjeros, especialmente los chinos. Mientras caminábamos, algunos vendedores nos hablaban chino porque nos parecemos a los chinos.

                                                                                                         Todos estos fueron los lugares que visitamos. ¡Ojalá que visites estos lugares cuando vengas a Tailandia!
