October 20, 2018 - Wattled Lapwing or African Wattled Lapwing (Vanellus senegallus)
Found across much of central and southern Africa, these lapwings mostly live in grassy habitats, often near water. They eat insects, such as grasshoppers, locusts, and beetles, as well as aquatic insects, worms, and grass leaves and seeds. Nesting on the ground in shallow depressions, generally near water, they lay clutches of three or four eggs.
