With every motion, every wave, every crashing, each cresting, the opportunity of change starts with the desire.
Don't Do Your Bit
Do your lot. It is common to hear people respond to world issues with 'well, I do my bit... I give to my charities' etc. This isn't enough, or anywhere near enough. We must all do the most that we can, and when we have done our most then we must imagine new limits for ourselves and fulfil them. We must hold deep in our hearts the simple, absolute desire to be of the highest service possible. This world needs that.
A lot of people say that this is a beautiful world and there is much more good than bad... and yeah, that is true, but only to the degree that having 364 days of lovely family time is quantitatively better than the one day in that year when your daughter is kidnapped, tortured, raped and murdered. So yeah, there are lots of pretty things, and most days are quite nice, but that one moment in a while - which is actually every moment of every day for millions of starving people - is enough to make those lovely, picnic days utterly meaningless.
We can't hang around in this world with the attitude that things aren't too bad and so long as we do our bit to help then we are good people. Our situation is so far beyond that. The issues on this planet are our responsibility, we are collectively invested in this, and no-one gets out without being stained by the suffering we allow. Do your bit all you want, pretend that something is better than nothing, but it isn't going to be enough, not for the planet, not for yourself.
If you are not giving your life for the good of all then you are not really understanding why you are here.
How to Take Action
Identify root problem.
Intuit actual solution.
Act fearlessly and selflessly.
Explain your actions.
Take consequences cheerfully.
Do Not:
Spend years pondering problem in between serving the problem.
Start an outraged blog and blog outraged for years summoning everyone else to do something.
Write a book.
Get a book deal.
Publish bestseller.
Go on Oprah.
Lecture at seminars and conferences with a sideline in how to be abundant.
Live in a nice house.
Do a Ted fucking Talks / go a little too far, get censored.
Keep talking out / make little difference.
Tell the kids to do something.
Action(s)
Taking action has become the main priority in my life at the moment... asides from developing a stronger, more dedicated connection / experience of source, of course, from which all action is born and will be returned to in gratitude.
I have always had a lot of ideas and a lot of desire to take action and make a difference, but along the way I discovered that I lacked belief in myself and when ideas weren't created with applause and due celebration with immediate effect i'd deflate and quit and hide away from it all. I've figured out that that is not going to get me or anyone else very far at all.
Fortunately, under the banner of my rededication I feel much more able and confident to get things done. I am taking action step by step, day by day, with no feeling of need for recognition, but to simply do what needs to be done to give each idea the best chance it has. At the moment the ideas are small and humble, but achieving them will give me the confidence and the skills to build bigger ideas.
With source by my side and my other side and up above and down below and permeating my entire inner being and all of existence, I shall be fine. I just need to remember that I am nothing, I am no-one, I don't want to be, I just want the highest of the high, the greatest of the good, the most loving of all potential to happen and be, and if some of that happens and is to be through me then I will dutifully carry out my duties. Blessed am I.
I've been watching this talk by Wayne Dyer over the last few days. I'd heard of him before but i'm not sure that i'd read his books or watched any other talks. Not that I can remember. This is a good talk, and the theme is interesting and very evolutionary, but I have some doubts about the law of attraction / create your own reality movement. It's not the idea that I am unsure about, or even how the idea is used in principle, but i'm not sure that we should be teaching western people how to fulfil even more desires when so many on this planet are struggling to survive. Not that the law of attraction is exclusive to attaining more material things, it is a principle intrinsic to spiritual development too, and to creating a better world, but I do wish that teachers like Wayne Dyer would place more emphasis on utilising the law of attraction to help others than to simply help ourselves more.
I suppose the counter argument is that if we westerners can satisfy our desires and find happiness then we will be more motivated to help others, and that whilst we struggle to ease our own suffering and ensure our own survival it is too much to expect us to do the same for others. All I would say in response to this is that the only real, lasting happiness I have felt is through helping others. To such a degree whereby my only wish is to be of the highest service possible to others. As such through the law of attraction I attract opportunities to be of highest service as well as the tools needed to be fulfil that service. The natural consequence of this is peace and happiness. As of yet I feel little joy in my life, and nothing like bliss, but I think this is in proportion to the extent of my helping others. I know I have much more to give, and I am certain that when I am fulfilling my potential that joy and bliss will follow.
This is part of an ongoing theme for me where I am struggling to find current spiritual teachers who I really connect with, who really inspire me. Of course me stating that I am 'struggling to find' creates a situation where I struggle to find, and maybe I need to be more careful with my thoughts and words here, but what i'm basically saying is that at present there is no prominent figure who I feel is really speaking on and acting on the issues that I think are most important on this planet. Encouraging westerners to pursue and fulfil more desires doesn't seem like a priority at the moment. If we in the west desire happiness - which we absolutely should pursue and fulfil - then we would be best looking towards all the suffering we allow (and create) around the world and giving our lives to solving that.
A Bit About
I think that the 'change the world' attitude is sneered at a bit, and maybe seen as a youthful, naive attitude, but I feel differently. I am 31, I have held this attitude since I was 18, I have not outgrown it, in fact, I have very much grown into it, to the point where not only do I wish to change the world, but I feel equipped to do so.
Some people say that we cannot change the world. I don't understand this, though, because we all do change the world in every moment of our existence simply by existing. The ripple of our every moment extends out and affects others to unknown degrees and to unknown quantities.
We can have no doubts that our every action changes the world in small and major ways - mostly indirectly and unconsciously, but the effect is there. My feeling is that with some conscious effort we can make our ripples have a more deliberate and directed impact, just as many human beings have done over history.
Others say that we should not seek to change the world but to change ourselves. I agree with this, but I think the two go hand in hand. At some point out self-development should reach the stage where we wish to help others, at this stage the process of changing the world goes hand in hand with our continued efforts to change ourselves, with one informing the other.
I know that i've only touched on a few ideas here without much explanation, but that will come in time. All I hope from this blog is to share some thoughts, the journey, the unfolding of this lifetime and this intent. For 13 years now I have held the burning desire to do all that I can to make a difference to the world, I have many ideas and many attributes that give me the chance of doing so. If sharing this unfolding inspires others to adopt a similar intent allied with their own abilities and views then that would be wonderful.

LET GO OF YOUR PARENTS AND SET YOURSELF FREE!
Forgiving your folks is the first act of Divine Power on an earthly plane.
Whether in a healthy relationship with your folks or a detrimental one, our parents are our parents, and however you choose to see the odds.. there is no coincidence. A huge part of who we are now is fruited from this relationship. And you have the perfect relationship for your "soul's evolution" and awakening. They may or may not be able to give you all that you need, but based on the level that they are at, they can give you all that they can. You are here because of them. But there comes a point where we need to realize that they are no longer responsible for the circumstances we find ourselves in. There is no victim. You must let go in order to grow. You must take responsibility for who you are now and what you choose to create in your future.
"We often hold anger, resentments, and old grudges towards our parents for what we feel happened to us as children, often blaming them for where we are today, making our current circumstances their fault. This state of mind is a victim mentality and gives away your power. The past is gone and blaming them in the present limits your ability to create a new future.Taking responsibility for where you are today sets you free and empowers your life." TDL
Remember that we are a reflection of the things that matter to us most. We are the co-creator of our life's circumstances; creating Perception-- The things that we complain about is a reflection of our own perceptions' weight. Realize your power to forgive and to move forward. Sometimes we think that to forgive is to condone behavior or somehow make what they did or didn't do OKAY. Forgiving isn't so much for them, but for You. "We forgive to set ourselves FREE. And It requires giving up your sense of being 'right'."
Everyone is on their own journey, and their own level of awareness. The only way to help (at its basic core, beginning with "family") and to BE the best that we can BE for each other is to Love. The highest form would be to act compassionately: with the absence of judgement, and with the absolute presence of care and kindness. Love in Action. From this foundation, applied to your relationship with your Self as well, we are an unstoppable force.
