Looking for reviews: freeline skating
I’m considering buying a pair of freeline skates but I have some questions whose answers I can’t seem to find with a simple google search.
1) I want to use them primarily for transport purposes (to get to uni). So I want something that’s faster and less tiring than walking, easier to take off than rollerblades (for which i’d have to still bring my normal shoes to switch into when I’m at college as rollerblades aren’t allowed inside) and easier than a bike or skateboard to keep an eye out for/carry around when not in use. So freeline skates are definitely easier to take off and take less space than a bike or skateboard, but how practical are they for “faster and less tiring than a swift-paced walk”?
2) how practical are they when you are carrying heavy bags on your shoulders/back or in your hands?
3) they seem to be meant for side skating (ie the direction you’re going in is not the direction your body is facing). But I would prefer to use them for going up front (ie. body facing the movement direction), like rollerblades, just the kind that can be attached to whatever shoes i’m already wearing. Does this work?
I mean, I’ve done waveboarding before (which is also done sideways and I’m under the impression sideways freeline skating would feel similar) but I find it less practical for actual transport reasons since the speed:used energy ratio is worse than walking.
Also: I have experience with waveboarding, inline skating, and skateboarding (least of the latter, I have tried it but never actually learned it, i don’t know how to stop or change direction). Which of these is most similar to freeline skating? (i know none is exactly the same, but i just want a general idea)
please signal boost this.
